LOS ANGELES – Two members of the famed "Oceanic Six" have announced that they are engaged. Dr. Jack Shephard, a spinal surgeon, and Kate Austen, a former fugitive, will be married sometime this year according to sources close to the happy couple.

Shephard and Austen first made headlines everywhere as passengers on the doomed Oceanic Airlines Flight 815 which crashed on September 22nd, leaving all aboard believed to be dead due to the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. Six survivors were later found to be alive and rescued from the island where they managed to stay alive for over two months. Among the other four survivors were Shephard's half sister, Claire Littleton, and her son Aaron who was born on the island after miraculously surviving impact.

While the world was equally shocked and fascinated by the story of Flight 815 and its survivors, it wasn't a happy homecoming for all of the Six. After years on the run, Kate Austen was finally brought up on numerous charges she had managed to evade previous to the plane crash. A federal trial ended with a plea bargain giving Ms. Austen ten years probation provided she remains in California. Her mother died shortly after, putting an end to her long battle with cancer.

During the trial, Shephard testified to his fiancee's heroic acts of bravery, one of which happened to be saving his life. Though he denied that he loved her upon cross-examination by the prosecutor, there had long been speculation that the two were romantically involved as they had been while stranded.

Shephard and Austen now reside in Los Angeles where Dr. Shephard continues his work as a prominent spinal surgeon and his future wife is considering her career options now that she is a free woman. The couple plan to marry in the Fall and will then continue to reside at their recently bought Los Angeles home.

This will be the second marriage for both.

Introducing me.

I suppose I should do this introduction thing. The counselor that Nathan and I have been seeing suggested this as part of the process and since I am fully committed to it, here goes nothing.

My name is Haley James Scott. I'm 22 years old, married to the love of my life who also happens to be my high school sweetheart, and together we have an amazing five year old son named Jamie. He is pretty much the best kid ever and I'm not saying that just because I'm his mom. Even though it does create a little bit of bias. But just a little. My husband, Nathan, and I are from a little place called Tree Hill. It's not much as far as maps go, but it's home.

We got married during our junior year in high school. Believe me, no one saw it coming. And then our son was born the night we graduated. That's not to say we have a perfect marriage or anything. I think a lot of people are surprised we've made it through as much as we have. From me leaving to go on tour with The Wreckers, to some seriously shady behavior on his part in the absence of money when his dad cut him off completely for standing by me, to an accident that left him in a wheelchair for awhile and ruined his basketball career. It's a lot for any marriage to survive, but especially such a young one. And marriages are hard work anyway. Recently, it was this psycho nanny we'd hired to care for Jamie and ended up throwing herself at my husband instead before kidnapping our son for an afternoon. I actually asked for a divorce around that time, but we're really trying to work things out. Hence the therapy. And it's working.

Right now I'm a teacher, working at the high school that I went to. It's a very frustrating job, but I still think that it's worth it. I think shaping lives and providing education is maybe the most worthwhile thing I can do with my life next to being a mother. My lifelong best friend and brother-in-law, Lucas Scott, works there too coaching the basketball team that he and Nathan played on. It's nice having him so close at all times, but also very tempting when I feel like he needs a little reality smack check what with all the constant chaos of his love life and his propensity for choosing the wrong girl. He has a good heart, and I know it's in the right place. He's just kind of his own enemy when it comes to love.

Other than that, I am working on some new music with one of my other good friends, Peyton. She has her own independent label, Red Bedroom Records, and the two of us are putting together my next album. Of course I can't mention Peyton without mentioning Brooke as well. She's the owner and designer of the Clothes Over Bros fashion line, but most importantly to me, she is Jamie's godmother. It's funny that we're all still here, and for better or for worse, we're all still friends.

I'm really at a loss here for what else I should say. Most of this stuff seems more appropriate for the actual journal itself, especially if I were to ever explain any of it. So I guess I'll just end it there. I'm Haley, and it's nice to meet all of you.
