Ginny hadn't meant to be late but, unlike Ron, she had stopped in to see Molly and Arthur. And, of course, five minutes had turned into twenty and a cup of tea, then thirty and a slice of cake, and then finally she had to physically walk out the door calling goodbye to escape.

She hurried up the steps and hammered on the door, wondering if, by any chance, Ron and Hermione hadn't actually arrived yet and she might get a little time with just her and Harry...

For most of the short walk he simply listened to her, taking in her thoughts on how it was to be who they were. It was taxing, having lived through the war- and having been so pivotal in its end- and it almost seemed at times to be a second job on top of the one he already had, another layer of his being an Auror that hadn't been broached when he'd signed the paperwork. Now, with Kingsley dead, things had reverted right back to how they had been just after He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named had fallen, and witches and wizards far older and experienced than himself still turned a worried eye on him for his thoughts- no matter how many times he told them what he had to say was probably no more useful than anything they could offer.

He hardly noticed they were nearly at Grimmauld until Hermione pointed it out- but when she did he started to finally take in his surroundings, rather than simply passing them so passively. "None of us do. This..it's not like last time, when we had an idea of what was going on. When-" he didn't finish his thought, knowing it would dredge back too much and afraid of what it meant for the adversary they now faced. Back when they'd had people to still tell them what to do, give them a skeletal idea of how to proceed. Now they were the ones at the head, and Ron hardly wanted to think of the implications. "We'll figure it out. That's what tonight's all about, right? Assessing the situation, putting together what we know, and coming up with a plan."

Hermione nodded at his reasurance. "Yes, you're right. It will be easier to figure out what the next step is once we have all of us together." She fell silent for a little while as they closed the gap to the house. Hermione look around them carefully to make sure the street was empty before she did the spell to make the house appear. As they waited for it to show up, Hermione wondered if she ought to make as much noise as possible when they went in, since they were late and she figured Ginny had beat them there. The last thing this day needed was for Ron to walk in on his sister and her boyfriend in the middle of something.

But while she was lost in her thoughts, she didn't realize that she was following Ron up the stairs, and she highly doubted that he'd knock first, or even consider that something he might not want to be privy to might be happening inside. "Ron, you should probably knock before you go in," she said a little late.
