we're makin' movies!

throughout the week, pru & crew can be seen around the island working on a series of emergency preparedness shorts. the topics of the shorts range from general first aid, CPR and evacuation, to extremely specific situations, like someone falling into a sleep so deep only a kiss from their true love can awaken them, or what to do when faced with an army of baby egg monsters.

while filming making concussions into funcussions, [volunteer 1] slips and gets a nasty knock on the back of their head. pru loves the realism, but the shot itself is kind of fucked, can we do that another two or ten times?

don't lose your booze is about all the dumb shit drunk people can get into, and how to help while keeping your buzz. ellie decides to go method and take a few shots, and there's a beautiful shot of them horking up their lunch that's gonna look great under the title.

the shortest short of all is your egg monster & you: what to do when it inevitably joins its brethren and tries to kill you, in which callie just screams "RUN!" while lulu dies loudly and dramatically from egg monster wounds. the helpfulness of this short has been disputed, but it's better than pru's first idea (eat them before they can eat you).

feel free to say your character participated in any of these shorts, whether they mentioned it ic or not, and make up any topics/titles/shenanigans you want! it's a free-for-all!!

	Peter isn't part of this, but invited himself anyway. He uses his straw to punch several new holes into his icee and then slurps loudly from it. Joe has made himself available to observe most of the filming in case they have a technical question. He is also almost certain someone is actually going to get hurt, and they might actually need him to perform the heimlich or treat a concussion.

His arms are crossed, and he sort of shakes his head in a disapproving manner as some of the others prepare for a scene. “We might all be doomed,” he mutters skeptically to the person closest to him.

Joe looked over at Diana and chuckled, “Sadly, no.” He continued to watch while some of them practiced CPR. “TWO HANDS. HIGHER UP.” He yelled the pointers out before shaking his head again. “Christ.” He looked Diana up and down, a corner of his mouth hitched up. “You gonna grace us with a performance?” He asked although he was sure he knew the answer.

Has anyone ever been as happy as Callie is to film emergency preparedness shorts? IDK!! We’ll see. But she is SO HAPPY. Though she thinks that her first impression of Dame Gothel was correct (that she is a formidable and terrifying woman with a hair fetish and lots of power), she has decided that she’s someone whom Callie actually likes a lot and really admires. She’s very curious about the whole process and could be seen taking notes throughout the week.

Though primarily on screen talent, Callie was happy to help with the writing, as well. In both respects, she gave the first aid and evacuation videos all the serious research they deserved and tried to make things as accurate as possible (seeking advice from Marty, Barrett, and Joe).

Her true passion was clearly geared more towards the horror, fairytale-themed shorts, though, and she ALSO took this all very seriously. Do not be surprised if she came up to several people with questions such as:

“In your Tale, what do you think most helped you through your trials and tribulations?”

“During the dramatic pinnacle of your story, how did you feel?”

“Is there something that you’d do differently, now?”

“What does true love’s kiss feel like?”

“What’s the most important piece of advice you or your Tale ever received? Is there a piece of advice you wish you could give yourself or your Tale?”

Callie was also prone to wandering around in costume and makeup; if it looks like she’s been put through the wringer, she’s fine! Really! Don’t mind the (fake) blood!

“In your Tale, what do you think most helped you through your trials and tribulations?” - "The fairy who cursed me was stupid enough to make it so that the way to break my curse was something she had cursed another person to do."

“During the dramatic pinnacle of your story, how did you feel?” - He thinks for a long moment, very unsure how to describe all of it, or all of the feelings involved. In the end, he lands on "...Sad," he says, looking every bit the word.

“Is there something that you’d do differently, now?” - "No."

“What does true love’s kiss feel like?” "Peace."

“What’s the most important piece of advice you or your Tale ever received? Is there a piece of advice you wish you could give yourself or your Tale?” - "I don't know. No."

Callie took notes during his first answer, nodding vigorously. Stupid fairy, lack of foresight.

But in the moment of quiet that followed, she looked up and didn't look at her notebook again.

When Axel finished answering, she blinked owlishly for a second before she wrapped her arms around him in a hug, plastering the side of her face against his chest. "Thank you for your time," she said professionally.

She didn't let go.

Callie volunteered for the ‘someone falls into a sleep so deep only a kiss from their true love can awaken them’ scene. Who is her OTL? Who is the damsel and who is the hero? Can they make it through rehearsal with their dignity intact?

In preparation, Callie invited her scene partner to the rose garden, where she laid out a blanket in a quiet, out of the way spot and took out a couple of fairytale books that she brought along for research.

For the duration of the week, Callie brought the ‘job’ home every day. She laid out scenarios and created backstories, telling them around the dinner table and forcing some quick improv from her friends.

She practiced death scenes in the parlor and CPR in the kitchen. She ~swanned~ down staircases, reciting Shakespeare. She worked on soundtrack ideas in the music room. She would have WELCOMED any of her roomies joining her.

And, one fateful day when she didn’t think that anyone else was at home, she was outside practicing her your egg monster & you scene and could be heard screaming out in terrified anguish, “RUN!”

Marty has been doing her best to help out all week. Her form of helping out includes jumping out of nowhere to spook Callie (or anyone else caught in the crossfire) and running toward any screams or yells she hears in case of an accidental boy who cried wolf situation developing.

When she hears "RUN!" she's in the kitchen but rushing outside only takes a few seconds.

	Ellis tries to help as best he can while also prepping for his own PSA debut. When he hears the RUN!, he also runs outside, but then also smushes a bunch of the ketchup packets he'd had in his hand onto his shirt and melodramatically "dies" of an egg monster-inflicted stomach wound, yelling, "Bleerrreggghh! Barrett was also in the kitchen. He runs outside just in time to see Ellis die. "NOOOOOOOOOOOO," he says dramatically in anguish (it actually does trigger him a tiny bit, but he pretends it does not), before his eyes widen in horror as the invisible egg creature that got Ellis leaps from his dead companion to him.

"We should have run," Barrett whispers to Marty as he succumbs to his injuries.

Callie's expression had barely begun to lighten at the sight of Marty, before it became crestfallen at first Ellis' demise, then Barrett's. Her eyes widening with surprise, she clasped her hands over her mouth and gasped.

She fell to her knees and let her arms drop. Breathing raggedly, she solemnly promised, "We will avenge you, my friends. They say," she paused dramatically, "that you cannot make an omelet without breaking a few eggs. And I will open a cafe in your honor."

Sadie isn’t technically part of the shoot, but she’s attracted to activity and she thinks this is all really fun. Will it save them from a fogpocalypse or dying mysteriously? Honestly, she doesn’t think so! But it’s nice to see people pulling together and making movies is cool.

There were a couple days when she brought food and snacks for the crew, courtesy of the general store, and one of those afternoons she took a sandwich and watched the proceedings with interest. Leaning over to the person next to her, she asked, “Does blood really splatter that far?”
