Jaime sent the message to the network before snagging one of the already wet raincoats off the coatrack by the door. So, it had taken them four fucking months (going on five, really, if they were being honest) to get their shit together, but here it was. They had a plan, and they were doing something.
It ... admittedly, wasn't much of something, but it was something and in complete and utter fairness to them, it wasn't really something they could have done on the other island. But ever since Dora sicced her on blind spots ... well, the idea had taken root. Maybe it was all bullshit. Maybe there weren't any real blind and deaf spots. Maybe what she was finding were super-observed spots, but ... so what?
They were doing things.
Slogging through puddles, brushing against dripping leaves, Jaime followed the narrow path they'd hacked earlier that day to the place where they'd started dragging small trees. The spot itself was on the beach, but it seemed easier to cut a path through the jungle than find and remember the right series of paths that lead there.
Reckless? You bet, but there it was.
She grinned as she almost bumped into Jayne, and she laughed aloud as she picked up the end of the tree he was dragging. Small tree, but still a tree. It was heavy, and wet, and dirty, but just then? She didn't care. They were making a private place where they were unobserved and unheard. Fuck their captors; they'd find a way around all the observations.
Lily was already at the spot, using one of her spells to keep the existing trees upright until they could lash them together properly. She also had a spell keeping the small bonfire from falling victim to the rain that was occasionally pouring, occasionally sprinkling, but always coming down. They were soaked to the skin, but it was a warm rain and they could always dry off later.
This though ... this was best done now and fast while they could do it.
Jayne grinned as he shifted the tree into a vertical position, plunking it in next to the others. He twisted the trunk, forcing it down into the sand and he glanced to Lily. He waited until she nodded before he let go of it, and his grin broadened slightly. This was the most useful he'd felt in months.
