RP: Share and Tell
Characters: LilyLu, Remus
Time/Date: after breakfast, November 1
Location: Remus' room
Warnings/Rating: None anticipated
Summary: LilyLu goes to play story-teller
Status: Complete

Honestly, she was a little nervous about doing this. Was it right? Was it going to make a paradox when (if) he went back and remembered? But did it matter? Her grandmother knew all about how she died, so she supposed if a paradox started somewhere ... it might start there.

Or even as far back as Ariana's death, for all that.

Lily wondered if it was going to matter, if things would play out differently and they'd return to a strange world (if they returned at all) or if it would just create alternate realities. Jaime had tried to explain that to her once, but Lily had been disturbed by the idea of multiple hers running around the universe so she tried not to think too much about it.

None of this really mattered right now, honestly. She was just ... going to tell Remus about his son. And how he died in the war. What was to be worried about there?

After breakfast, she'd headed up to Remus' room. She'd told John the night before what was going on, and he'd been asleep when she'd left, but she didn't think this would take too long. Then she could maybe go see if he was still in bed and ... wake him up if he was. A little smile pulled at her lips as she thought about he various ways she could wake him up, then tried not to think about that, because she didn't want to be thinking those sorts of thoughts while she was recounting Remus' past. Well, past to her. Future to him.

Rapping lightly on his door, Lily waited for a response.

Remus had changed his mind a number of times about this. To be honest, he deliberately hadn't sought out much information about his life in the future so he couldn't really blame anyone for not telling him. He'd never asked. He had been content to know that Voldemort was defeated, but the casual mention that he was someone's father was going to drive him crazy. Had he been married? Did he have a son on purpose?

He wondered if Lily Luna was the best person to talk to this about -- perhaps Harry would have more information -- but maybe he only wanted vague details. He didn't know yet.

At least she was here -- or someone else was knocking at his door -- and he could stop obsessing over it. Moving to the door, he pulled it open and offered her a nervous smile.

"Hello. Come on in," he invited her with a vague motion as he drew the door open and stepped aside.

"Hey," she replied as she eased her hands into her pockets before stepping into the room. She couldn't help but glance around to note the differences between his room and the one she shared with John. Theirs was definitely bigger, but it stood to reason, right?

She glanced back to him and offered him a nervous smile but ... she'd just answer whatever he asked and try not to elaborate too much or venture on too many tangents. "Do you ... um. Want to know a lot, or should I try to keep details to a minimum?"

Wandering over to one of the chairs, she plunked herself down into it, resting her hands in her lap as she glanced up to him. She wondered if he wouldn't be better off talking to her father about this, but ... Lily thought she knew enough to handle his questions.

He closed the door once she was inside and moved to sit on the edge of his bed, facing her. Resting his hands on his thighs, he resisted the urge to stand back up and pace. Really, this was nothing he should be nervous about, right? He was just going to listen to possibly vague information about his future. That was all.

"I ... let's start with vague and I'll let you know if I want a bit more detail," he decided after only a brief pause. He had a feeling he wouldn't want to know too much ... or even if he wanted to know, it was better not to, wasn't it? Maybe it didn't matter if he was going to be stuck here forever, but he was of the mind that the future should... be a mystery, for the most part.

Yet here he was, about to hear information about his future.

"Right. How far back do you want me to start? I mean, I only know what my mum and dad shared, so I don't know everything, but they told Teddy loads of things, and really, Teddy's kind of like a big brother, as much time as he spent with the family."

She wondered what would happen if Teddy showed up here, and Lily thought that would be ... very, very interesting.

"He even married into the family. Bill ..." she hesitated. "He'd probably be alive in your time, right? I mean, he'd likely be a baby, but ... yeah, definitely. Because he's older than my dad. Anyway, Uncle Bill had a daughter, and Teddy married her." Lily nodded and figured that was probably a little tangential. "So did ... you have any questions? I mean, it'll be easier for me if you just ask what you want to know."

He assumed Bill was Molly and Arthur's boy. It did make him smile a little to think of having a son who was like a big brother to Harry's children. Even if that meant he'd had Teddy a bit late in life.

He blew out a thoughtful sigh before he shrugged his shoulders, unsure where to start.

"Ah ... well... Who is Teddy's mother? Were we married?" He decided that was a good place to start and left off the question about whether or not Teddy had been planned. Perhaps with the wolfsbane potion, he hadn't been as concerned about the danger he could pose to possible family members.

"Tonks," she replied promptly to the first question before she wondered if he, at twenty-two, even knew of the existence of Sirius' second cousin. "Um. Nymphadora Tonks. She was way younger than you when you guys got married. She's Andromeda's daughter," Lily added, figuring he could work out the rest of the relationships himself.

"You ... I think you guys met through the Order, but I'm not completely certain on the specifics. Dad mentioned it was a difficult relationship at the beginning, I think," she reflected. Maybe she was confusing her facts. Or skewing them slightly.

"But you guys loved each other," she added quietly. "'least, that's what Dad says."

Tonks. He married Sirius' little cousin? Well, little second cousin or however that worked. He wondered if he should feel mildly hypocritical for wondering about the attraction between Lily and Balthazar when he was apparently marrying someone way younger than himself in the future.

"I see," he finally managed, "I just... never really say myself falling in love or having a family." Well, he could see himself falling in love, but so far he'd been very skilled at keeping himself from acting on those feelings. Strangely, or perhaps not so strange, he wished his older self was here or had written down what had been going on in his mind at the time.

He opened his mouth to ask a question, but he honestly wasn't even sure what else he wanted to know, if anything. "I think I might need more time to process before coming up with other questions," he smiled apologetically.

He also had a feeling he'd have to ask Harry if he wanted more details about his relationship, but he had to decide if he wanted those details first.

Lily nodded as if she knew. Which she didn't, of course. She knew what she'd heard, but the rest was simply speculation on her end. "Sure," she agreed when he mentioned needing more time. "I really ... I don't honestly know much about that sort of stuff. You and Tonks and however that worked out. Or ... didn't ... work out or what it was like or anything like that," she admitted. Which was sort of a given, really, and she flushed slightly before shrugging it off.

"He's not a wolf," Lily thought to offer. "He's an animagus, like his mum. So your ... you ... that part didn't carry over from you."

Maybe that would make him feel better, or alleviate his worries or something? She wasn't even sure where she'd been going with that, exactly.

Remus felt something inside him relax when she volunteered the information that he'd been too hesitant to ask. It was something that had always concerned him and was perhaps even more pressing than his worry that he would somehow manage to physically harm those he loved. He wouldn't wish being a werewolf on anyone -- even with the potion -- and to pass it on to a child was just as bad as turning someone in his mind.

He wondered if that had changed in the future or having a child with someone he loved had just outweighed his fears.

"Thank you," he replied softly, as if she had anything to do with his son not being a werewolf. "I'd always wondered about that. Do... you know if it's a certainty that being a werewolf can't be passed to offspring or it was just chance that he wasn't?"

"Metamorphmagus," she corrected herself, wondering what she'd been thinking. "With the ..." She gestured toward her hair and face, though she knew it encompassed more than that. "Well, you know what they are, yeah?"

She nodded slowly. "Yeah. Tristan wasn't turned," she said. "His mum got infected while she was pregnant with him, and he's been a werewolf his whole life. I don't know if ... if it would be different, from the other side? Like if he actually fathered a child, if they'd have a chance of being a wolf, but he might've looked into that, so you could ask him."

She wondered a little what the answer to that would wind up being, and maybe she'd go pester Tristan herself about it. "I mean, not that he would be having kids, since he doesn't like girls like that, but ... that doesn't mean he didn't look into it," she amended.

He had hardly even heard what she said after she confirmed Teddy hadn't been a wolf so it took him a moment to piece together what she was correcting. He grinned faintly when it sunk in. He had married a metamorphmagus? Well, that was interesting as well and he wondered if his son had gotten into any trouble (or out of any trouble) with that ability.

He gave a brief nod to confirm that he did, indeed, know what a metamorphmagus was.

"I'll have to ask him, then," he agreed, wondering if Tristan would have looked into it. He assumed so, even if just for curiosity's sake.

Inhaling thoughtfully, he offered her a smile, "Think that really was my last question." He'd kind of snuck in another one after deciding he was done, but he felt like he knew enough or what he was curious about, she probably wouldn't know.

Lily nodded before she stood up. She shoved her hands into the pockets of her jeans before she shifted her weight slightly. "So, if you ... come up with any others, my dad'd probably know better than I would, if ... you wanted to ask. I'm sure he'd be more than happy to tell you anything you'd want to know that I don't know."

She drew one hand out of her pocket, lifting it into a slight wave before she gestured to the door to indicate she'd be on her way if he was done with her. "Hope ... I helped some," she said, feeling a little awkward about things, but sincerely hoping she had helped and not hindered the situation.

He stood up when she did. Not that she didn't know exactly where the door was and they weren't far from it, but it seemed polite all the same. He smiled and nodded in response to her suggestion to ask Harry if he had further questions; he would, if he did. He was still of the mind that knowing too much was bad, but maybe he was never getting home anyway.

"You did," he assured her. "Thank you." He didn't imagine it was easy for her, especially since they weren't super close friends. He did appreciate it, though.

"Sure," she agreed. "So, I'll see you," she offered, reasoning they'd at least bump into each other at meals or something.

Lily glanced to him again, offering a smile before she let herself out into the hallway.

So, that hadn't been as bad as she'd thought; it had gone well enough with no flailing or wild accusations. With a smile, Lily turned to head toward the stairs to head down to her room and see what John was up to.
