Yesterday had been a dull haze of a blur. She'd taken care of things as well as she could manage before retreating to her room. She brought a book with her, but there was no one to maintain an illusion for ... so she'd simply set it on her nightstand. She gained then some very sudden insight on why Jaime had preferred to simply sleep while Mal was gone. The horrible, hollow ache inside of her made it hard to want to do anything at all.

She'd managed to stir herself for dinner, but it was a quiet affair anyway. Not that she stayed down there long; she couldn't stand the overwhelming pall of grief that hung over the table like something tangible.

After retreating to her room, she resolved that tomorrow would be better and she wouldn't laze around. She had to finish exploring the island and start to guide the smaller sect of captives here. Just because they were all dead over there didn't mean life stopped here. Though Lily wondered if she wouldn't protest much if life did stop here.

She drifted to sleep though she wasn't really tired. The gas seeping in through the vents took care of that for her.

When Lily woke up, she was aware of the faint throbbing in her head that indicated drugs, and her eyes shifted to the nightstand. Nothing there but an alarm clock proudly informing her it was 6:17 AM and the book she'd abandoned the night before. She was, however, aware of a weight around her middle that certainly hadn't been there when she'd gone to sleep. It felt ... like an arm.

It also felt like someone tall, and warm, and solid was pressing against her back, and Lily wondered who here would have the balls to crawl into bed with her, and why she hadn't woken up. The drugs, of course, she realized as she slowly lifted her head.

So they'd drugged her and put someone in bed with her? She turned her head slowly, peering behind herself. She saw familiar unkempt hair, and a familiar face, lips slack and parted in sleep. She saw closed lids and the wrinkles that composed the map of his face. His very familiar face. The face of a man who should be ... who was ... dead. The ...

... had he survived, and they'd simply let her think he was dead? That they were all dead? "Balthazar," she breathed as she turned in his embrace, studying his sleeping face. She lifted a trembling hand, brushing back his hair. His real hair, warm where it rested against his face. Whispering his name again, she moved her hand to shake his shoulder. "Wake up," she murmured. "Love, wake up," she pleaded quietly.

His eyelids fluttered, a sigh crossed his lips, his arm tightened around her, but he made no other movements. He didn't wake up.

The drugs, Lily reasoned. When she'd been moved, how late had it been before she'd woken up? How long would he be out? He was here, alive, breathing, and that was good, but not enough. He might ... he might be from a time before. A clone drawn in to replace the one lost. He might be shocked to be in her bed, wondering who she is, why she's there with him, why they're sharing a room. She wouldn't put it past their captors. Not at all.

Leaning in, she pressed her lips against his sleeping mouth, kissing him tenderly before drawing her head back. If he was back, were the others?

Lily eased out of bed, her heart hammering. She reached over to her alarm clock, turning it off. Penning a quick note telling him she'd be right back, she propped it up against the clock before drawing on her robe and heading out the door. She ran down the hall to Mal and Jaime's room, pausing outside. Pressing her head to the door, she listened. Snoring. She could hear someone snoring inside.

Laughing softly, Lily pressed her hands over her mouth before turning to the stairs, running up them. She could have sent him a network post, she knew, but this seemed ... better somehow. Easier. It would kill more time, at any rate. Besides, she wasn't sure if his devices were intact after his rampage in his room.

Lily pounded on the door to Sev's suite, not worried about waking up Mercy if she was there. If she was as drugged as Balthazar was, she wouldn't be up for a little while. "Sev!" she called through the door. "Sev, they aren't dead! Check her room!"

With a wild laugh, Lily spun away from the door. She raced to the stairs again, this time to her son's room. She listened outside the door, listened, listened, and she heard motion within the room. They weren't dead at all!

She was delighted now, joyful, but later ... oh later there would be rage at the situation, at how their captors toyed with them like this. For now, she was content to have them back. She should celebrate, she should ... tell them they were on their own for breakfast.

Darting down to the kitchen, Lily left a note on the table. They aren't dead. They're here! You're on your own for breakfast though. ♥ Lily

That done, she dashed back up the stairs to her room. Slipping off her robe, she eased back beneath the covers, pressing her body against Balthazar's to wait for him to wake up.

He smiled against her mouth. He didn't want to stop -- and he thought he felt well enough to continue. His heart was racing and his thoughts felt a little disorganized now, but he knew it had more to do with wanting her than the left over effects of the drugs.

"Think I can manage," he assured her in the brief moments before she was kissing her again. He had a fleeting thought of wanting to tease her, that perhaps she was sending mixed messages by saying she could wait and then kissing him like that, but kissing her back seemed to be the wiser choice.

He pressed his body against hers, guiding her onto her back to ease himself over her as he deepened the kiss. He moaned her name, intending to show her just how much he had missed her and how glad he was to have her back.

Lily shivered a little, rolling onto her back as he guided her. She wrapped her arms around him, clinging tightly to him as her eyes closed. She was aware there was too much clothing between them, but they'd get to that, soon. Right now, it was almost enough to just have his weight over her, his lips on hers, his body pressing against her.

She could feel his arousal pressing against her thigh, and she groaned quietly. But she was content to take this slow, to simply explore each other as they undressed each other.

Maybe later, they'd make it downstairs for food. If not, she had some up here. Honestly, she had little intention of actually leaving the room much, at least for today.

This, for now, was all she wanted. All she needed.
