RP: shake shake shake
Characters: LilyLu, John
Time/Date: 2:53 AM, Monday, October 11 (EQ 4.7, 15 seconds)
Location: their room
Warnings/Rating: FtB smut
Summary: Something really weird wakes Lily up
Status: Complete

Given their captors love of screwing with them, Lily hadn't really thought much about the 'warning' that had been posted in the network. Not until something that she could only assume was an earthquake woke her up.

She heard something rattling (the light, maybe?) and was aware of the bed shaking. Vibrating, really. She heard something crash in the bathroom, and she reached over for John in something that was very like a panic. Short nails scrabbled against the skin of his bare back or chest or shoulder before she finally managed to grip his arm, shaking him urgently.

"John," she hissed as wide brown eyes swept the darkened room. She couldn't really make out anything, but the room was still --

No, there it went. The world was still again, but Lily's heart was hammering. She had never, ever experienced anything like that, and while she had a very strong desire to never again feel anything like that, she had the strangest feeling that this was just the start of the fun.

Realizing that she'd tightened her grip on John's arm, she relaxed her hand and gazed down to see if he was awake yet.

For a moment, John was confused. Lily was shaking him, but it felt like she was somehow ... well, not jumping on the bed, but making the whole thing move. It just didn't feel right. She was also now gripping him very tightly and just as suddenly as he had woken up, the shaking stopped.

He sat up, aware of his own heart pounding as it dawned on him what had happened. He wasn't too thrilled. The Earth should not do strange things, like move in ways he could feel. It was really only Lily being there that kept him from completely freaking out.

"Fucking earthquakes," he muttered. Yeah, that sure told the earth and put it in its place. "You all right?"

Reaching over, he rubbed a hand down her back and glanced around the room, but his eyes hadn't adjusted yet and he could see very little.

"Yeah. No. I mean, I'm fine I just ... we don't have these in England. Ever. What if ... the building falls down?" It was possible, right? She was fairly certain she'd heard or read or something about earthquakes destroying entire cities. Like the big one that was off the coast of Africa or South America or whatever a couple of years ago.

Lily eased herself closer to John, burying her face against his chest as she held him. It was over now, and there was nothing to worry about, but she felt herself tensing up all the same in anticipation of a second round or ... after shocks or whatever. Earthquakes had those, right?

"What ... did you ever have them where you were from?" she asked as she adjusted the covers so there wasn't any fabric between their bodies.

"They only fall down in like... poor countries with shacks and crap like that," John insisted, oh so sensitively. Of course, he didn't know how sound the structure of the building was here, but it seemed pretty sturdy to him. "Millions of people live in California and they have earthquakes all the time. They have big ass buildings too that never fell down."

Well, as far as he knew, but he felt confident in his assessment of California and earthquakes.

"Like once, yeah. They're pretty rare on the east coast though," and he liked it that way. He wrapped an arm around her as he settled back against the bed, still a little tense. His hand stroked rhythmically against her bare back and he focused on the feel of her body against his own instead of wondering if there would be aftershocks.

"You know we pretty much are the equivalent of a poor country with shacks right now, don't you?" Lily had no idea how stable or sturdy or built-to-withstand-earthquakes the hotel was, and she had the queerest feeling they were going to find out this week.

Unless this honestly was just a one-time thing. She shivered, though it had nothing to do with the temperature. It was actually quite warm under the covers with John.

"Do you think you'll be going back to sleep?" She wondered if he could. She was tired, yes, but she was now also a little strung out and she wondered ... if he had energy to work off, too, all of a sudden.

If he was going to sleep, she supposed she'd try, but she wasn't opposed to the idea of fooling around some, either.

"Think my mind was blocking that out, actually," John decided with a light smirk. There were shacks, he knew, but the hotel seemed all right to him. He wondered if somehow the kidnappers were in control of the earthquakes, but he didn't ask; he couldn't tell if it was something that was possible or his mind being slow to realize the stupidness of the thought at ... whatever the hell time it was.

His smirk became a grin at her question and he cocked his head to gaze down at her, brows raising. "Dunno. I feel pretty awake."

It was that fake awake that he knew would go away shortly if he could just relax; he could think of a few things to do to perhaps help them ... relax.

"What about you? We could try to tire each other out," he suggested with a waggle of his brows that he wasn't sure she could see.

"Any excuse, huh?" she muttered as she shoved at his shoulder. Not that she hadn't been thinking it, honestly, but he could be a little more gentlemanly -- oh, who was she kidding?

"Do you think this building will fall down? Really?" She peered up at him in the darkness as her hand lifted. Her fingers threaded through his hair, gripping gently at the back of his head as she held him close against her.

She didn't think they'd knock the building down, or that if there was a real risk of it falling down they'd move them, or something.

Unless this was ... just the end point of the experiment? Buildings fall, everyone dies? But a few people had just gotten here; they couldn't be ending it now, could they?

Lily wiggled closer to John, her hand sliding from his hair down over his shoulder and along his arm. "How should we tire each other out?" She pressed. "A rousing game of table-tennis?"

"Well, yeah," he answered, laughing softly. He saw no reason to deny that he was after any excuse to fool around. Even at three in the morning. He really did think it would help them fall asleep, but even if he hadn't, he would have been up for it.

"Don't think this building will fall. The shacks might, but I bet this one and the mall are fine," he assured her as he eased closer to her, shifting to ease on top of her.

"We don't have a..." he furrowed his brow, "table-tennis ... table," he pointed out. "Guess we'll have to do something else. It's pretty dark so it shouldn't involve reading ... or getting out of bed ... or putting clothes on."

He tilted his head to kiss her jaw, her throat, her shoulders. The idea of having sex through an earthquake kind of amused him, but maybe there wouldn't be an aftershock this morning.

"We could go find one," she pointed out cleverly. "Though I guess since you're on top of me now, we should just stay here," she pointed out as she eased her arms around him. She was a little shaken still, but she knew John could make her forget. Then she'd be tired and she'd fall asleep, and ... that would be that.

Stroking his back, she closed her eyes as she tipped her head back to allow him better access to her throat. She tightened her arms around him and sighed contently.

"Guess we should ... try it your way," she teased playfully as she tilted her chin down, seeking his lips with her own.

"Yeah," he breathed, grinning against her throat before he added, "besides it's three in the morning; everything's closed."

He bit at her neck instead of dwelling on the thought that he missed simple things like stores opening and closing or going out at all hours of the night and trying to find entertainment. He bet Lily would have been fun to take to Denny's at two in the morning or get kicked out of Walmart with.

"My way," he agreed before covering her lips with his own, deeply, his eyes closing, one of his hands beginning a familiar, but no less exciting exploration of her body as he stopped thinking about everything that wasn't her, that wasn't feeling good, the way her body felt under his, how hard she made him.

"Everything's ... closed," she repeated before she lost whatever track that was going to follow. Everything wasn't closed. Things didn't close here. That's where she'd been going with that, but then he was kissing her and she was kissing him, and words didn't matter anymore.

He mattered. His body, the way he was stiffening against her thigh, the way his lips felt, the sheer heat of his body above her own. This mattered. She moved under him, arching into his hand or pressing closer when he shifted. Doing everything she could to maintain steady contact with his body.

She heard her own noises as she whimpered and moaned softly against his mouth, and soon, she even lost track of her own sounds as she tightened her arms around him.

This would be good. To lay with him, to be with him. To fuck him senseless until they were both exhausted and earthquakes didn't matter. She wanted this, wanted him, and afterward, she'd just ... sleep.
