RP: Cross that damn line
Characters: Yusuke and Open
Time/Date: Afternoon, June 22
Location: White line
Warnings/Rating: Yusuke's mouth maybe
Summary: Gonna cross that white line
Status: Ongoing

This whole thing was bullshit. Some scientists apparently knocked him out and brought him to this creepy ass place. Then they go and say, 'don't cross the white line or else.' Screw that. Over that line was probably the way home. He probably just had to fight some dumb ass demon and then he could free everyone. And as usual, Yusuke would have to be the one to have to fight the stupid demon. Yep, the detective of the spirit world was going to have to do the whole thing himself. Well that's why he's got the job right?

As he neared the line, his nerves began to act up a bit. Mostly just because Hiei did have a tendency to be right. Not always though, that was usually Kurama, but Hiei probably did know what he was talking about. Had he tried to cross the line yet? Doubtful. He didn't act all cocky like he does when he really knew something Yusuke didn't.

He looked at the line and smirked. Just a line. Nothing special about it. Also, he wasn't too good at sensing spirit energy or all that weird crap like that idiot Kuwabara, but he was pretty sure that he wouldn't sense anything anyways.

He began powering up a bit, just to prepare himself. He also readied his shooting finger. He might be headstrong, but he wasn't a complete idiot.

A bead of sweat dripped of his forehead as he readied himself to take the step across the line.

"I'm trying," he said, slightly annoyed, not at the girl, but more the situation, "I just can't get my foot to..." He heard something. A lot of somethings. "Kid, you better run."

He knew something was coming, and when the something became visible, that didn't help. There was a group of men moving towards him, each one holding a weapon of some kind. Some were makeshift, such as chains and pipes, some were more regular, knives and such. "Dammit!" He continued struggling to get his legs out. Him, he wasn't worried about, but the kid... He couldn't let her get hurt.

He focused some power into his hand to prepare to release his shotgun. He didn't want to actually kill anyone, so he was holding back a bit, but he was going to make sure it was powerful enough to make sure these punks knew who was boss. "Just stay behind me, Kid."

She couldn't run. Her legs were trembling and she was shaking too much when she heard the noises of the approaching army. She knew Yusuke was in trouble, but she couldn't move enough and knew that she couldn't help him. She was confused now as to why she'd thought it would be a bright idea for him to cross the line. She wanted him back on this side of it now, and she couldn't understand why this was happening. She wanted to cry.

Stay behind me, she understood, and she scrambled so that she was more in line behind him, hoping desperately that he knew what he was doing.

Hiei grit his teeth unpleasantly. He knew the Detective was good, but even he wouldn't be able to take down an army if he was slowly sinking into quicksand. In a few quick, simple movements and jumps, he was down from the buildings and racing over to where the Detective and the young girl were standing.

Hiding his nerves under a mask of disdain, as per usual, Hiei waited until an opportune moment and then made his presence known with a calm, "Is this part of your plan to save us all, Detective, or did you need some assistance?"

"Yeah fine, I'm an idiot," Yusuke grudgingly admitted, "Now get the girl out of here!" He wasn't sure if he would be able to hold off the group before Hiei returned, but at the moment, the girl was his main concern. She was too frightened, or stupid he wasn't sure exactly, to run.

Yusuke released his shotgun attack on the first bit of the group, but to his surprise, it did nothing. "What the Hell?" He charged again, this time giving it full power, and released it again. The area all around the people was showing signs that the attack was doing something, but somehow the army wasn't being hit.

"After that, I might take you up on that offer," he told Hiei, as he stood, with quicksand around his knees.
