RP: Movie Night
Characters: LilyLu, Tristan, John
Time/Date: Nighttime, September 4
Location: Lobby rec area
Warnings/Rating: None
Summary: Tris and LilyLu watch movies and talk about stuff
Status: Complete

"Scroll back up," Lily ordered, watching the guide on the TV screen. She was sprawled on the couch, her head resting on Tristan's thigh, her arm curled around his knee. He was stroking her hair, running his fingers through it. Anyone who didn't know him, didn't know them, might think there was something intimate about their behavior. That they were a couple. It wasn't anything like that though. Once Tris and James had gotten to be friends, Tris had promised James he'd look after Lily. Just because they'd changed locations didn't change that agreement. They'd gotten closer in Tris' last year, and just because Lily hadn't seen him for a few months hardly meant she couldn't fall back into the same easy, comfortable relationship they'd had before. Tris was like a big brother, and that was that.

"Scroll back up," Tris repeated as he scrolled down.

"Up!" Lily protested with a laugh, squeezing his thigh.

"This is up!"

"It is not, Tristan Joseph Moore!"

"It will be in a minute," he said as the guide cycled back to the lower numbers.

"It's still going down."

"But it gets you where you were trying to go."

Lily heaved a sigh. "I'm going to steal the remote from you."

"Go ahead," he said as he slowed his scrolling.

"There. That one. The Wolfman movie. That's like ... twenty years old," she pointed out. "Nothing here is new. I mean, this is all stuff that was popular when I was ... like two."

"Has anyone mentioned yet that you're really bad at math?"

"It's why I dropped Arithmancy. Numbers don't like me." Lily snuggled a little closer to him as he set the remote aside and they watched the opening sequence of The Wolfman. She was content enough to lapse into silence to watch the movie, though she wouldn't mind in the least if they had company joining them as well.

For as much as John liked to tell himself he was a loner, he wasn't used to spending much time alone. The mansion was a busy place and he kind of missed it which made him wonder if he would have grown to regret his choice to leave it. Maybe it was just because he hadn't had enough time to settle into Magneto's camp to miss it instead.

Disinclined to spend the evening alone in his room, he made his way downstairs to the rec area and paused briefly as he saw a couple cuddling on the couch. He made a slight face, but he wasn't sure where else to go to just hang out. Maybe the roof, but he'd rather watch tv than swim.

"Are you guys planning on making out at any point in the near future or is it safe to sit down?" He asked by way of greeting, arching his brows as he made his way further into the rec room but held off on taking a seat.

"That'd be like making out with my brother," Lily offered as she glanced to the guy. She rolled her eyes as she recognized him from the network pictures, and wondered if he was planning on harassing them.

"Her very gay brother," Tristan volunteered with a wave to the guy. "Which would be a no," he clarified with a grin.

"You can't change the channel though," Lily continued as she returned her attention to the TV. "We're making fun of inaccuracies in the movie," she explained. Or warned; some people didn't like making fun of movies like they did.

John was mildly surprised when the first words out of the blond guy's mouth were that he was gay. Did people really run around announcing that? He hesitated briefly, but at least it meant that the pair wouldn't be making out and he guessed that was good enough for him.

"What're we making fun of, then?" He asked as he settled into a chair facing the TV. He didn't recognize the movie they were watching, but he was rarely not down for making fun of something.

"I'm John, by the way," he introduced himself with a half shrug, glancing towards the others and settling his gaze on Lily. "You're the girl whose mom isn't dead, right?"

A little grin touched his lips. He honestly couldn't recall if she had told him her name, but he was pretty sure he hadn't dropped his in that post.

"How the werewolves aren't really like that," she said promptly. "I'm Lily. This is Tristan. But I'm not the Lily who's been here forever. I'm her granddaughter."

"I'm a werewolf, too," Tristan offered with a grin, lifting his free hand in a slight wave. "Nice to meet you." He glanced down to Lily. "Did you tell him your mum was dead?"

"No. I said if she had been. She's still fine. Still divorced but still fine." She rolled her eyes in a 'now look what you've started' sort of way to John. Though then she wondered if he and Tris would get on; Tristan was awfully fond of 'your mom' jokes.

"No shit, so what are werewolves really like?" He asked curiously. Sure, there were shifting and morphing mutations and ... furry people mutations, but as far as he knew, there were no honest to goodness werewolves.

Briefly he wondered if they were pulling his leg, but why couldn't there be werewolves here? There was apparently a dog who could talk and all sorts of magic. Disbelief didn't seem to have much of a place here. So he'd run with it and if they were just fooling him, well, he'd act like he knew that all along.

He grinned and shrugged in response to Lily's eye roll.

"Four-legged and actually resembling normal wolves," Tristan said. "The face is a little differently shaped, and the tail's a little different, and our ears have tufts, but running by in the dark, we'd look like any other wolf if you just caught a glimpse. Not ..." he gestured toward the screen. "Bipedal and furry."

"But he has to take a potion to stay sane," Lily chipped in. "I snuck out one night to go play with him and Juliet when they were running around at school," she continued. She'd also netted two weeks of detention for it, but it had been worth it so she didn't even care.

"Also, the actual transformation hurts a lot more than they make it seem like on the screen," he added with another gesture to the movie before he tugged lightly at Lily's hair. "There's a lot more screaming involved."

"Maybe there are some werewolves that look like that though," he grinned, shrugging broad shoulders. "From some other ... place, reality, whatever. I bet they're sitting around watching a movie about wolves and thinking oh man, real werewolves don't look anything like that."

It stood to reason, didn't it, that somewhere there might be werewolves that looked more like a bigfoot/wolf hybrid than wolves? Maybe the scientists would find one and bring it here.

He ran mentally through a quick list of what he knew about werewolves and then asked, "Does silver hurt you?"

That was a bit more tactful than asking do people try to shoot you with silver bullets? and he was somewhat proud of himself.

"Probably somewhere," she agreed. This place was certainly opening her eyes to a variety of cultures she'd been utterly ignorant of before. "Maybe we'll see one. You know, for variety, like they brought people with a bunch of different magic here." Which still weirded her out. Rings to conduct magic. That was just bizarre.

Tristan shook his head to the question. "No. No worse than anything else does. The only thing that really leaves scars are bites from other werewolves. Which, I'm proud to say, I have avoided completely my entire life."

"He was born a werewolf," Lily chimed in helpfully. Because Tristan didn't mind sharing things about himself, so clearly, she should help him out in the sharing department.

He nodded. "My mum was turned, just before I was born. For a bit they thought I'd be fine, but when I was seven or so, the transformations kicked in. So I've spent the past thirteen years or so transforming once a month."

He made a thoughtful noise in response to the silver information, but maybe that myth came from ... some other werewolf or it was nothing more than a made up story. He guessed if he had to be kidnapped somewhere, it was at least somewhere ... uh, interesting. He could be tied up in a basement instead.

"So are people really ... tolerant ... where you're from? 'cause they're mostly assholes in my neck of the woods and I can't imagine casually throwing around what I am without someone being a bitch over it," he explained where his question was coming from.

Of course, maybe Tristan wasn't so casual with it back home. Nothing like that really seemed to matter here; he didn't even know if anyone was 'normal' here.

Tristan shook his head. "No. The older witches and wizards are intolerant of both concepts. The younger set is more tolerant of the gay, but pretty much everyone's raised with anti-werewolf prejudice. They're fighting hard against it, but this one ... asshole wolf, Fenrir Greyback, he was involved with this group of Dark wizards that were hell bent on taking over the world, so ... werewolves got more of a bad reputation than they had before because of his pack's involvement. Now we're all Death Eater supporters," he continued with a half grin.

It occurred to him then he'd have to be very careful about letting him slide down into his dark place. Without Landon to drag him back up ... Sure, he had Lily, but she didn't understand. Not like Lan did."It's getting better. Slowly but surely. Most of the kids at school were pretty accepting of me, and Juliet was doing fine on her own, last I heard." He paused. "She was a first year my last year, and she was a werewolf, too. I like to think I paved a path for her." He grinned and shrugged again, letting his eyes turn back toward the TV.

"Oh," he said after a pause. "There's a guy here who looks like me. Pretty much identical to me, actually."

"But no accent," Lily supplied helpfully. "So you'll be able to tell them apart that way." She squeezed Tris' thigh lightly, peering up at him. She knew sometimes he got a little touchy talking about wolf-stuff, but ... he seemed okay so far.

"Sounds about right," he agreed, though he had no idea what a Death Eater was. It sounded kind of badass to him, but it was easy enough to deduce that it was something bad. "I guess people are assholes everywhere," he added with a smirk ... which could have been kind of ironic coming from him, but he wasn't a prejudice asshole.

He arched a brow and grinned, "Is the accent the only way I could tell? I mean, seriously identical, not just similar?"

Was there some random guy from another reality or world who looked just like him? That was a weird thought. Then he wondered if Tristan and his unrelated twin would somehow fuck with people.

"Pretty much," he agreed. "Just to varying degrees. I mean, some people think I'm kind of a jerk sometimes," he said with a grin.

"Everyone thinks you're a jerk," Lily teased him, rubbing circled on his knee with her fingertips.

"See?" Tris gestured to Lily. "Everyone thinks I'm a -- wait, who thinks that?"

She grinned and shifted slightly to try to focus on the movie.

"But ... I don't know. I mean, if you got us naked or something, there'd probably be some telling differences. Birthmarks or scars or something. We didn't really get down to that level in our self-comparisons." He grinned. "But no, I don't think we're ... identical, exactly, but really, really close to it."

John snorted a laugh, imagining the pair of them standing around naked and comparing ... okay, that was a weird thing to imagine. He shook his head, briefly glancing to the television, but he had no idea what was going on. It probably wasn't a very difficult plot to catch up on. Someone was a werewolf and ... they ate people or whatever.

"Well, somehow I don't think asking one of you to strip would be helpful to me," he pointed out, but he probably shouldn't talk about naked things in front of Tristan. It might like.. turn him on or something, he didn't know.

"You guys know of anyone else with a twin who's not really a twin?"

Tris grinned. "Well, if you want to have a look later," he waggled his brows playfully to John, with no real intention of anything. He assumed every guy was straight until he was told otherwise, but teasing them was fun.

He shook his head. "No, but there's a guy here who kind of looks like the Corner twins. Who ironically is friends with the guy who looks like me. Oh, and someone got stabbed by someone who he thought looked like someone from where he was from. Bumped into him up near the infirmary the other day. He said he sounds like someone else here. I can't decide which is weirder. Looking like someone or sounding like them."

"Someone got stabbed? Did I know about this?" Her brow furrowed. Had she heard? How was Tristan more up on gossip than she was? That was just ... not at all proper. She'd have to do better about listening to things. Or talking to people. Or remembering what she was told, if she had heard about it.

"And looking like is definitely weirder," she assured him.

"Gee, thanks," he replied with a sarcastic grin and a good-natured roll of his eyes. He shifted slightly, but the topic moved easily enough back to look a likes.

Briefly, he furrowed his brow as he tried to follow who was looking like who and being stabbed, but he wouldn't have known names anyway. There were a decent amount of people here and he only knew ... less than a handful.

"Looking like is weirder," he agreed with Lily before asking curious. "What'd the guy get stabbed for? Did he look like someone's mortal enemy or something?"

It would definitely be weird to hear his voice coming from someone else, though. Not quite as weird as looking exactly like someone. These were levels of strange he had never considered before.

Tris shook his head. "No one's heard why. The one who stabbed him didn't say, and the guy who got stabbed has no idea. He thought she looked like someone from home, but I guess she was still in the 'I just got here and I don't know you' place, and ... reacted." From what he'd heard. Which was possibly fourth hand, so who knew really.

He shrugged. "At least we won't have to worry about getting accidentally stabbed, since they took everyone's toys away."

"Ugh. Don't remind me," Lily muttered against Tristan's thigh. "Ridiculous. You know, they can't even do wandless magic? It's all gone. All of it. They could've at least left us our wands so we could pretend."

Tris grinned as he tugged playfully at Lily's hair. "Yeah, but what fun would that be?"

"We could still get accidentally kicked in the balls, though," he pointed out. His eyes flicked to Lily and he grinned, "Well, two out of three of us, I guess. Unless there's something ... different about you, Lily."

But he wasn't really very concerned. It sounded like there was something fishy going on with the stabbing chick, but he'd just be careful if he happened to think he knew someone from home.

"It is kinda weird that they took your wands even if you can't use them." He managed to ignore the fact that having a wand sounded ridiculous. Did they wear pointy hats, too? "I got to keep my lighter," he shrugged, though it dawned on him after he shared that he didn't think he'd ever said what his power was.

"Nothing like that different about me," she assured him, brows elevating slightly. "Though you're welcome to come check if you want," she taunted with a grin. She wasn't serious in the least and she trusted Tris to defend her virtue if it came to that.

"Maybe they just don't want us poking people's eyes out," she suggested with a shrug.

"So ... you're jazzed because they're letting you smoke? Bad for the lungs, you know," Tris pointed out. "Not to mention, no one likes snogging an ashtray." Well, he didn't, at any rate.

Then he wondered if maybe the lighter comment was somehow relevant to John's powers. "Or are you trying to tell us you're an arsonist and you're going to burn the place down some night?"

Amused, John raised his brows, "You offering to strip for me or would I have to get up and grope you?" He questioned teasingly, not intending to take her up on either offer even if she was serious about it -- which he highly, highly doubted.

"Yeah, my bad," he replied to Tristan. "I can manipulate fire. Well, I could," he amended somewhat bitterly. His powers may have made him a freak back home, but he felt naked without them, "So somewhere between your two options? I wouldn't really say I'm an arsonist."

He smirked with a shake of his head. It was kind of funny to hear their British slang and even though he'd only had a vague idea of what snogging meant, it was easy to figure out in context.

"You'd have to get up. I'm feeling a bit lazy and rather comfortable," Lily assured him. She reached across Tristan for the remote so she could see what else was on after the movie was over.

"Just fire though?" she prompted.

Tris grinned. "Well, good to hear that, at any rate," he murmured. "Really, of all the ways I'd thought about dying, going down in an actual blaze wasn't really on the list." Granted, if he'd had his magic, he'd have every manner of defense against that -- charms, water spells, shields, vacuums -- but it was rough being a Muggle.

Lily scrolled through the movie channels, pausing to read the descriptions of the movies as she scrolled past them. "If anything looks interesting, say something," she prompted the boys.

"Just fire? Just?" He echoed incredulously, shaking his head. "Just for that, I'm not going to give you the pleasure of being groped by me." He was sure she would be very disappointed and crushed.

He grinned teasingly, but he'd always thought his mutation was pretty awesome. Not as awesome as being able to create fire, but ... hey, minor details and all. Better than waving some wussy wand around, anyway.

"So you have a list of ... ways to die? Or ways you would want to die?" He asked with an arched brow, amused. "What was number one?"

"Well, I mean, we can do all sorts of things with our magic. With all the elements. I don't know. It just seemed ..."

Lily grinned. "But you're right. I suppose I deserved being denied the groping for my insolence," she quipped.

"She really does have a mouth on her," Tris said. "Gets her in trouble daily," he continued.

"I do. Lan and I made one once. My number one way to die is in my sleep when I'm a hundred and seventy-five," he said, grinning. Not that he'd live anywhere near that long; shifting and being a wolf really took a lot out of him.

"Well, it's not magic for us. Me. Whatever. It's a mutation. So, I dunno, there was a pretty wide range of abilities and shit -- like controlling the weather, phasing through walls -- but each person's mutation was pretty specific," he scratched the side of his neck, unsure if he was making sense to people who had never heard of their kinds of powers.

"Think I'd rather die during sex," he decided with a smirk, "but sure, one hundred and seventy-five sounds good."

He just assumed that was a ridiculous number since... no one lived that long. He didn't really think he would want to be that old, unless he didn't have to be all feeble and wrinkly for the majority of it.

"Huh. Dunno that I could handle that. Rather fond of the variety of spells we've got access to," Lily admitted. "Though controlling weather might be neat. We can't do that." Well, not that she was aware of, at any rate.

Tris grinned. "Right, but imagine how freaked out your partner would be if you keeled over mid-coitus? And what if they kept going?" His brows arched before he laughed quietly.

He plucked the remote free from Lily's hand as she scrolled too slowly through the adult channels. "Didn't we just go through this?" he chastised her before he settled on a comedy, putting the remote to the side and out of her reach.

"Not as neat as controlling fire," John insisted with a smirk, rolling his shoulders back against the chair. All right, weather could be neat, but he didn't think he would trade if it was possible. He didn't think he'd want to carry a wand around, either.

"Y'know, if I was dead, I don't think I would care how freaked out my partner was ... or if they kept going," he added with a grin before he pulled a slight face. This was a pretty gross conversation all of a sudden and he shook his head lightly.

"What? Does Lily have a porn fascination?" He asked, glancing towards the tv soon enough to catch the slow scroll work she had been doing.

"No, but apparently they had a thing here not ... so very long ago ... and she arrived in time to see a video of her parents--"

"Tristan, shut up," Lily muttered. "It was disturbing, all right? I was profoundly disturbed because it was my parents. If it had been anyone else ..."

"Your father still wouldn't want you watching it."

"I'm legal," she muttered before she sighed. At least he'd picked an entertaining movie. She shifted slightly to glance at John, sticking out her tongue at him before resettling herself against Tristan.

"Oh, god, that's horrible," John laughed, making a face at the idea of anyone seeing their parents doing ... what he assumed she had seen them doing. Briefly, he wondered how they had gotten videos of people having sex, but figured they didn't know anyway.

"Well, wait, how old are you? You might not be legal here," he pointed out teasingly, grinning when Lily stuck her tongue out at him. "I guess maybe creepy ass islands run by crazy doctors don't have age of consent laws, though."

What were they going to do? Build a jail and lock people in it? It probably wouldn't be any worse than already being kidnapped. Well, all right, it could be a lot worse, but whatever.

"Wizarding and Muggle legal," she said. "I'm eighteen." She rubbed absently at Tristan's leg. "Though anyone who knows me will tell you I act twelve." She shrugged; she was strangely fine with people thinking she was younger -- even if it was only because of her level of maturity.

"And really, what's it going to matter here? They kidnapped me, and ... put me here." She yawned, and rolled onto her back, lifting her head slightly to regard John. "There're kids here younger than me. Disturbing."

"It really is," Tris admitted. "Disturbing, I mean." He tugged at Lily's hair gently. "Going to sleep?"

"Thinking about it," she admitted. Granted, she was comfortable here, and she didn't want to miss out on any of the conversation ... so she figured she'd stick it out a bit longer.

He snorted at the idea of wizards having a separate legality than... "What the hell is a muggle?" He asked, baffled. "But yeah, can't imagine it matters here."

He might have guessed her age a year or two younger, but more based on looks. Maturity level was a pretty difficult thing to gauge and people of all ages acted different ways. Of course, looks could obviously be just as deceiving.

"Probably gonna head up to bed soon too." Or right now, but he had wanted to know what a muggle was.

"You're a Muggle," Lily said, brows elevating.

Tristan rolled his eyes and tugged at Lily's earlobe. "Non-magical people are called Muggles. Suppose it's our word for them. Witches and wizards with non-magical parents are Muggle-born -- we're so creative." He smiled softly. "Non-magical offspring of witches and wizards are called Squibs, so ... don't think you're the only ones stuck with odd sounding names," he added with a wink.

Lily smirked a little when John admitted to going to bed soon. It simply meant she'd won. Won what, she wasn't sure, but there it was. The fact that she was probably following shortly after was utterly irrelevant.

Yeah, all those names sounded pretty ridiculous. Muggles and squibs. He shook his head with a light smirk, pushing up out of his chair and stretching his arms up above his head with a quiet groan.

"Well, I'm taking my muggle ass to bed," he informed them with some amusement. "Try not to miss me too much," he added as he lifted his hand in a wave and started out of the rec room to head upstairs.
