RP: Raiding Time
Characters: Spike, Parker
Time/Date: Daybreak, August 16
Location: Lobby at first
Warnings/Rating: Language will inevitably arise
Summary: Spike and Parker go on a supply run
Status: Wrapped Up/Complete

Spike wasn't a stranger to working alongside thieves, let alone those of the female variety, so he didn't expect any trouble from Parker. If anything, she vaguely reminded him of Faye with a slightly less antagonistic personality. He could handle that. Maybe he even preferred it.

After arriving early to snatch the box of ammo Gwen left in the kitchen, Spike waited for his raiding partner in the lobby. He didn't actually know what to expect, since he hadn't yet met Parker in person, but he had a feeling that they'd be the only two wandering around so early. Maybe not normally, but with the threat of psychotic cannibals going around... Yeah, he doubted many wanted to be on the ground floor unless they were dealing with the ammo cache.

As he waited, he stretched out in a chair and locked his arms behind his head, making it seem as if he had no worries about the plan at all. In reality, he was a little uncertain about not knowing exactly what to expect or when; but overall he knew he (and, undoubtedly, Parker) had the skills necessary to get in, get stuff, and get out.

Parker arrived after a quick stop in the kitchen to see if anyone found the power source for her other stun gun (but armed with the small one she used outside the team). Dressed in jeans and a tee shirt Parker did not look like the usual thief but the bags under her arm were proof,"Found a few extra bags that can be stuffed to the teeth and any sign of anything freaky yet?" having worked on plans most of the prior night.

She knew once this crisis ended she would be ragged but right now she needed this.

Parker needed to feel useful again and the night before was only the beginning.

[Ooc: Deleted the original and reposted because I noticed a continuity slip. Sorry.]

For Spike, there was no stereotypical look for a thief. Jeans and a tee were just as good as a leather catsuit or a ski mask: it was the skill which made the thief, and he knew several varieties of them. The bags were what clued him in to Parker's identity, and the way she spoke to him only solidified it. This was the woman he'd volunteered to work with. Forgoing the long, blond hair and the slight pang of nostalgia (of the unpleasant sort) it gave him, he had no complaints.

"Haven't looked," he said with a half-shrug, "but it sounds like all's well." With the windows boarded and a distinct lack of caring enough to look before time to leave, he really didn't know what was going on outside. Logic demanded all was well enough, however, by the lack of noises or things trying to break in. "Can't say how long it'll last, so we better do this quickly." He stood slowly and stretched before reaching for a couple of bags. No need to make her carry everything, even if they were currently empty.

Without asking if she was ready, he headed toward the exit, glancing over his shoulder toward her once he reached the door.

"But for how long? Otherwise faster is better in this case" Parker mused as she handed over some of the empty bags and tagged along with Spike. "So how game plan is the mall for supplies then a raid of the store?" as she flipped open the device with the rough plan she worked on the night before. "Last night's weapons raid went well, just have to deal with a few lasers but nothing new beyond that".

But for her she was hit by memories of the team and especially Eliot and Alec.

"Guess your theory was right, then," he said with slight shrug. "You'd think they wouldn't bother wasting their time."

But, of course, there weren't many correct assumptions to be made about the bastards who'd taken them. Every time an idea seemed solid and accurate, something else happened which changed everything. It was getting quite monotonous, though Spike had to admit (if only to himself) that he liked feeling 'at home' again. He was, after all, no stranger to gunning up and preparing for an enemy invasion. Just... it was usually another group of idiots with guns and not psychopathic cannibals.

"Sounds good to me."

He made sure that Parker was close behind before heading toward the mall. The walk itself was interesting with Parker tagging along, mostly because of her resemblance to another blond he knew: Julia. It had been much the same back then, too. Julia would be a few steps behind him, and he would be a few steps behind Vicious, and nobody would realize that there was more between them than just the platonic kind of partnership. Until he'd become an idiot and thought fairy tale endings could really happen...

Spike tensed a little at the thought, but didn't say anything to explain the reaction. In fact, he rather hoped Parker wouldn't notice.

"After last night and the weapons run I'm not so sure. They set up lasers at the display but nothing I've not faced before." Parker was honest as they walked. "You even get any of your ammo found? I know someone was trying to clean up the table to make it a little more sane looking." she asked. As they walked she had ideas, most of them from other jobs with the team. Plus she was wishing Eliot was around, he would have come in handy.

"Yeah. Someone left a box for me," Spike said, lightly tapping his jacket to reveal (through the sound of it) that he'd stowed the ammo in a pocket. "It's a start, at least." He almost glanced toward her again, then decided to just focus on where they were going and making sure nothing was after them. "Find any shotguns behind those lasers?"

Even after the stockboy incident and with the looming threat of reavers, Spike decided against prematurely drawing his gun. Instead, as they got closer to the mall, he motioned for Parker to close the distance between them and catch up.

"While I got a power source for a stun gun." Parker nodded as she caught up. "As for the shotguns I'm pretty sure a couple were found, mostly went after the rifles and grenads." she was honest. "Missed the challenge, even the lasers were fun to flip over." she confessed.

"Yeah," Spike admitted with a slight scoff. "I missed the action." Granted, he'd rather be shooting at the usual jerks-with-guns instead of ravenous cannibals, but in the end beggars couldn't be choosers. At least he'd get to play with the heavy artillery again. He'd definitely have to get hold of a grenade or two, if even just for nostalgia's sake.

As they entered the mall, he looked around to make sure all was clear then nodded toward Parker. Improvised medical supplies weren't necessarily his specialty, but he'd made do with sub-par care enough times to know what would and wouldn't work. And 'generally useful supplies' were easy enough to determine.

"You can go that way, and I'll go this way. Stay close, and pay attention." As he spoke, he pointed toward different sections of the mall, each within reasonable view of the other so that they could still watch each others' backs.

He didn't wait for her to agree or see if she had any questions. Instead, he started toward his chosen location, opening one of the bags as he moved.

"You and me both." Parker was honest. "My usual prizes are statues, files and that sort of thing but going after weapons was too much fun on a crazy level. Add it needed was Eliot beating some mook senseless."

She nodded as Parker went to grabbing things for her own bag,"Just yell if you find anything interesting or any ammo! One of the kids got the table semi tidy". Parker then went to stuffing the bags with everything from possible tags (having picked that up via Eliot during a job) to a few things she just had a feeling about. But her stun gun never left the pocket of her jeans, just in case things went sideways.

"Show me a mook, and I'll beat 'em senseless for you," Spike offered, showing Parker what was his first smile in days - even if only a half-smile by technicality. Violence was his thing, even if he wasn't always open about it.

"You realize I'm keeping the nines..." Spike had already grabbed a few things, and didn't look back when he spoke. He'd share some ammo with Gwen, of course, but he wasn't keen on handing out everything of use to him. And it would take a miniature army to pry his hands off a box of shot-shells if he found it, considering he was hell-bent on obtaining the shotgun to go with such ammo.

Mostly, what he gathered were the basics - cloth, tape, a deck of playing cards just because. When he came upon some basic hygienic items, he snatched a few razors and some bottles of mouth wash (it said 'anti-bacterial,' so it seemed like a good enough grab)... and a couple of arrows that were hiding under a small stack of towels (which he also claimed). He didn't have any use for arrows and doubted a bow was the best choice of weapon against reavers, but there was no need to miss the opportunity to snag ammunition of any sort. It would be useful to someone.

After a short time - perhaps three or four minutes - he moved closer to Parker's territory to go through various clothing selections and see just what might be suitable to dismantle and use as needed. "Found some arrows," he called out to her - not so much yelling, but loud enough that she could hear him. He made sure to keep an eye on her blind spots (just in case) and shoved some plain, cotton shirts into the bag. "How's your luck holding?"

Parker had to smile at that, her semi crazy smile was something that had been rare and it showed. "Knew you were looking for 9mm so no problem on that front and anyone use WW2 era ammo of all things?" she asked. "Came across 2 boxes worth along with a first aid kit and some metal scraps" as she set them into her own bag. "Otherwise stuffed 2 bags and working on one more before we hit the store." she added. Parker also had a smaller bag filled with more arrows, the 2 boxes of WWII era ammo and rifle rounds.

"Yeah..." Spike had to think for a second to recall whether there'd been a name to associate with the need for WWII ammo. "...Jack needs it." The only Jack he knew was the captain he'd spoken to on the network, but it was a common enough name that he didn't want to assume they were the same person. Either way, someone needed it.

"Got what I could find," he said plainly, continuing to dig through various things in search of suitable stand-in supplies. Eventually, after much displacing of unneeded stuff, he came across some more ammo - two of the boxes 9mm, one something for a moderate-sized rifle. He quietly shifted one of the 9mm boxes into another inner pocket of his jacket and dropped the second box, along with the other ammo, into a bag.

By the time he was done, he also had two bags full of stuff and a few things hidden for himself. "Found a couple boxes of ammo," was all he said, leaving the type ambiguous. "Let's go." So maybe he wasn't exactly patient, but he didn't like the idea of standing around when he had found all he figured would be useful enough to take.

"Think you're right, only one person said anything about that make of ammo," Parker nodded. She grabbed a few more arrows as she left with Spike,"Next stop the store for raid round 2". As they walked she asked,"For the store its a general grab of food, smokes, booze and anything else that may work?".

"Not necessarily in that order." Spike, of course, considered smokes to be more important than food which, in turn, was marginally more important than booze. He offered Parker a subtle wink... then smirked at the realization that she probably didn't know his order of priorities. Only those who had lived with him for some time usually learned such nuances.

"I'll take care of the smokes," he said, giving her one more glance to make sure she could handle what she was carrying. It was, he admitted to himself, quite a relief to have someone competent to pull off the raid with. "We'll split everything else."

"Gotcha and I think you would easily fit in with my team, granted we see things a little different" since Parker was thinking Spike and Eliot might just get along somehow. She then went to grabbinh anything that could be useful, on occasion tossing in a flip over trick to duck shelving and things like that. She added things that some of the kids would like, she knew treats helped after rough jobs.

"I doubt they'd like me much," Spike said with a soft laugh. Somehow, he doubted a team of good guys would take much liking to a formerly 'evil' bounty hunter whose entire morality rested in shades of gray at best. From what Parker had told him, her team only helped those who were in the right - who needed a bit of leverage against the opposition. Spike... Well, he was in it for the money, not the supposed thrill of putting scumbags in jail.

He watched with amusement as she performed some of her tricks, but mostly kept his attention on the task at hand. Cigarettes came first, followed by various food items and snacks (and, of course, the ever-necessary booze). Not much thought went into his choices, other than his insistence that there always be something around that consisted of more than just carbs whenever possible. Particularly, he made sure a couple of bags of beef jerky and three packs of cigarettes ended up stashed inside his jacket rather than in the bag. (He'd seriously missed those useful inner pockets when forced to deal with ill-fitting replacement clothes from the mall.)
