This has actually been ... really nice, though? I've had a lot of fun. I don't think I'll like leaving. Nobody died or I don't see why experiments should have to involve people getting scared out of their minds or baking in the sun or starving. I don't know what anyone can learn from that sort of thing - for me, I already took a years-long course in being terrified and not having any blasted thing, and I don't think I'll get any more out of taking it ever again. I don't think you can get anything out of it except how to be slightly less terrified and scrounge for whatever you can, and that doesn't make you a better person or give you anything worth having. It just makes you scared and mean.

You think we'll get to keep the shoes? Thanks, anyway - I'm not so good, usually, at being in charge of things. Or. Sort of half in charge of things. ... Working with other people who don't just tell me what to do any leave me alone. Anyway. I had good time. And nothing terrible happened! See?

I quite like it here as well.

Maybe wherever we go next will be a little more this. If the scientists are playing a game, we should get to, too.

It's so refreshing, isn't it, when no one cracks their head open? I don't see why you'd want anything else.

Now if you could try your hand at some experiment on a group of people, what would you do?

See how many cakes they can eat.

I don't know. I don't really see what we have to learn from making people go through a bunch of awful rubbish. I would want to know how best to make people stop being asses to each other.

You would solve many of the problems of the world if you managed to solve that mystery, Bodhi.

I honestly think the answer is just for everyone to have enough for dinner every night.

Do you think I could be on the Jury?

One can learn a lesson from anything, if he so chooses. But you're right, harder times make for harder lessons.

It's good to know you're here, Bodhi Rook.

I know what I learned from angry and afraid and hungry. I wouldn't want anyone else to learn it. I don't think it can make anyone better than they already are.

I'm glad you're here, too. I was really sorry. About Scarof. We all were.

Desperate beings rarely have that chance, and I've seen too many good people choose anger as if it's stronger than hope.

Did no one make it off the planet?

Plenty of awful things can help keep you alive. I've done some of them. But after everything - I think the best thing I've learned is that I wish I hadn't been so worried about staying alive.

Probably keeping the skates and these hip designer jackets, but not the birds if the previous experiments are anything to go by. So get in your last goodbyes.

Thanks for helping me keep things rolling, even if it was a bit outside of your comfort zone.

I'll give them a last snack. Maybe they'll get to stay, at least.

I liked it. I think the zone might have gotten a little bigger. I guess we'll see in ... a few hours. Cheers to you, hope we don't wind up somewhere miserable again.

I know it was more for the kids, but being here wasn't too bad. And since we're both in Echo, you don't have much of an excuse to not say hi every now and then. Unless you have cooler friends.

Maybe you should look into running for one of those positions in your squad.

So that's more of what goes on around here? The scaring and the burning and the starving? I can't seem to get much of a straight answer.

Yes. The compound we spend some time at every now and then is all right, but the other places we've been have been difficult and dangerous and pretty miserable. I really can't wrap my head around why we're here, exactly, but it's obviously not to have any fun.

So the deceptively cute little buddies were just that. Deceptive.

If they're studying for behavioral purposes then it would be beneficial to either put us in a dull, boring, everyday scenario, or to put us in an extreme scenario. Seems like they've gone for that last one. Switching it up just keeps us from getting into a routine. And pulling people from multiple...universes, would be the best word I guess (though that might not be universal, since there seem to be, uh, copies of people running around?), means you get a lot of different viewpoints. Sounds like other people here have powers too, so that just adds to it. While I definitely don't agree with what they're doin' here, and I'm not exactly happy about it, from a scientific standpoint it makes total sense. Hate to say it, though.
