WHO: Jake and Kate.
WHAT: Discussing the custody of Brennan.
WHEN: January 2, 3pm.
WHERE: Marriott New York Marquis.
RATING: Mediumish?
STATUS: In Progress.
The hardest part of keeping this meeting was getting out of the library without Brennan finding out. Over the last week Jake had come to the conclusion that Brennan was different in several very astounding ways from who Jake remembered. He couldn't put his finger on all of them but the one he'd noticed the most was the lack of humanity Brennan seemed to feel anymore. That was definitely something he was going to have to work on now that he knew Brennan was most definitely alive. His best friend was acting like a god damned robot even with being a complete mess. It just made him feel that much more strongly that this whole Kate thing was a bad idea. And that dopy look he got when Kate came up in conversation was not helping the jealous monster boiling in his stomach any.
Checking the schedule posted on the door to the Periodicals room one last time Brennan grabbed his small day pack and clipped the holster for his gun to his pants before slipping out of the library. He was going to be early but that was fine, he didn't want any zombies sneaking up on them while they were talking. Not that he particularly cared if Kate got bit but he'd rather like keeping his skin unmarred of zombie bite marks if he could help it.
He kept to the rooftops for the trip to the Marriott. It was the safest route and he only really had to worry when he had to go to ground to enter the hotel. He waited at the top of the fire escape of the last building watching the street before starting down to the road. There wasn't a sign of infected at the moment, odd but definitely a plus. He hurried through the smashed glass of the main doors and began to sweep the rooms off the lobby and behind the concierge desk. The damn infected could hide anywhere. He came across a few corpses that had been more or less picked clean by the roaming animals and a single shuffler in the kitchen which he put down, but otherwise for once the place was clean. Rare in his experience and that probably should be a little worrying but he was just chalking it up to the zombies finding better feeding grounds.
Content that things were set for the most part he parked himself against the concierge desk and waited for Kate. He had plans for them to have a sit down in the lounge. He'd found a couple bottles of wine in the kitchen that had been missed by previous raiders that he was going to take with him when they were done plus a small one he was going to open for their meeting.
He heard the crunch of movement outside before he saw anyone but still his hand went to his gun just in case it was a shuffler or runner that was wanted to take a look around for fresh meat. He hoped it was just Kate being equally early for whatever reason instead. It was getting harder to find ammo out here.
