It was Christmas. And for once Cassie had someone to share the day with that didn’t make her feel like she was intruding. Not that it was ever intended for Cassie to feel that way, but being the third or sixth wheel on Christmas to a family sort of sucked. But Noah had offered to join her and she hadn’t coerced that out of him so she was feeling fairly happy as Christmas morning came around.
There was a ridiculous amount of primping. And if it hadn’t been for Allie’s fashion help she’d probably have spent more than an hour trying to determine the right outfit. In the end she wore the green shirt Allie lent her, a pair of black leggings, ballet flats, and a simple choker that she’d found at the bottom of her suitcase. It wasn’t too safe but it didn’t scream I just want to jump your bones either and that was probably the biggest thing she’d worried about. Plus it had the added bonus of not being her pajamas since he always seemed to be on when she ready to crawl into bed. Not that her pajamas weren’t cute but wearing something considered appropriate to wear in public might be a good place to start.
She wasn’t sure when exactly he’d arrive but she hung out near the entrance anyway. It was cold and her shirt was not the smartest thing to be wearing, but it was cute so she’d deal with the goose bumps. She kept watching for him to walk through those doors. Butterflies churning in her stomach that Noah had changed his mind and he wasn’t coming and she’d gotten pretty and borrowed clothes from Allie for nothing.
It seemed like forever before she finally spotted Noah coming in. A smile spread across her lips as she made her way over to him. She was a little nervous. Sure they talked fairly regularly once the techie wizard figured how to get face time to cooperate. But there was no computer or intranet in the middle anymore. This was real and Cassie knew Calli would be laughing at her right now. Leave it to Cassie to worry about mundane things like meeting someone face to face for the first time in the apocalypse.
“Merry Christmas Noah.” She greeted when she was close enough for him to hear her.
