WHO: Zach and DJ
WHAT: Zach snags DJ to see how he's dealing with things.
WHERE: The infirmary
WHEN: February 28th, 2020; Afternoon
RATING: Medium, maybe.
CHALLENGE: Pride Vs. Humility
Exhausted didn’t even begin to cover how Zach felt. He hadn’t seen anything but the four walls of the infirmary and the four walls of his cell in the past week, and if he was being entirely honest he hadn’t seen much of his cell. Three critical patients meant all hands on deck, especially when he had wackos running around his infirmary trying to pull the plug on people to conserve resources. Crazy woman. He thought as he leaned back in the office chair at the desk near what could be called the reception area. A stack of files state in front of him untouched. “Should just get Mads to help with this later,” His baby sister was better at it anyway, and as she so lovingly pointed out once, her hand writing was a million times better than his. Shoving the stack away from himself, it took only a couple of minutes before Zach was laying his head down on the now vacated portion of the desk. The wood cool under his cheek as he let his eyelids slide closed. When was the last time he had slept? Zach knew it was fucking concerning that he couldn’t remember. Might have been twenty hours ago, or had he dozed off earlier when Talia had just seemed to appear behind him. Shit. Was I sleeping standing up? He couldn’t remember feeling quite this tired since before the outbreak, back when he was working as a full time EMT. Falling asleep at the desk wasn’t ideal, but it was hard to stay conscious when sleep was calling to him. “Just a couple of minutes.” Like he muttered like he was justifying it to someone, which was insane because he was only person around. Before those couple of minutes could happen he heard the door to the infirmary creak as it opened. He didn’t bother lifting his head up from the desk as he gave his usual greeting. “You better have a legitimate reason for being here,” he began. “Because we don’t accept gawkers when it comes to the sick and injured.” They had had too many people wanting to poke their heads in and ‘see’ how the injured people from the raid were doing. It was getting really fucking old. |
