"He gave me so many speeches that sometimes they bleed together," Dillon couldn't help but laugh as he said that. "But yeah, that was one of them. I don't remember exactly how it came about. I think it had to do with his weird version of the birds and the bees talk." Unorthodox though it had been, it was still effective, so at least there was that. "Yeah. My something." Which now that he was re-saying it, sounded really, really bad. "I'm hopeless," he hung his head. At Zach's question, he shook his head no. "We haven't really had a chance. At least not recently. Every time we talk, her brother is there, and, well..." he didn't need to tell Zach how Luke felt about him, he was sure.
With a chuckle, Dillon nodded his agreement. "I could've probably figured that out, even without your words of wisdom. We do have sisters after all." He gave a little smirk. "But she's different. I mean... she's still confusing as all hell? But it's in a different way." He shrugged. "You've interacted with her, right? Anyone who's spoken to her for any extent of time, really, can see how she's not like everyone else." He smiled a little bit at the thought. It was why they got along so well. "That's why I care about her so much. Because she doesn't treat me like all the other girls do," he explained.
Confused feelings? Dillon thought about that for a second, and then shrugged a shoulder. "I don't know. Maybe a little bit," he explained. "I've never really... you know. This sort of thing has never really happened to me." Girls didn't usually like him. It was sad, how his thoughts kept coming back to that, but he couldn't help it. He chuckled a little bit. "I'm not," he said. Yeah, he'd often wondered what it would be like to be with another guy, but that was mostly curiosity. He had no plans to actually follow through. "Relax. You sound more confused than I am." When Zach recovered, Dillon nodded. "Something like that, yeah. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. Especially with her brother always around."
"Right," Dillon said, implying that he knew about the lie. "I won't push too much, but you should know that I don't buy that for even a second," he added, with a half-laugh. He paused for a second when Zach brought up his birthday and shook his head no. "Don't worry about it. We've all had things going on." He smiled, what he hoped was a comforting smile, at his brother. "I even forgot it most of the day. The only reason you should really worry about the crazy workaholic thing is to keep yourself alive, man. I'd rather not have you keel over on me or anything." It sounded like a joke, but he was actually really serious. "Good," he nodded once. "Maybe that should be my threat, honestly. To tell Talia on you. Just like Maddie and I always threatened to tell mom on you," he added with a little grin.
Good. He grinned again and nodded his head. "Alright, then. Get your coat. We're going to the cafeteria. Getting you some real food," he told his brother.
