WHO: Laney and Ollie
WHAT: boozin and then, attack!
WHEN: 11/18/18 nighttime
WHERE: the old apartment building that Laney and Evan had previously looted
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In progress
Laney walked down the deserted street. The sun was behind her, going down gradually, but her sunglasses were still propped perfectly on her nose. They weren't hers, originally. She'd duped some little girl into trading with her a while back for a box of candy that was nearly expired. The girl hadn't cared, though. She couldn't read. And Laney had made off with what she considered gold. In a desolate world like the one they now all lived in, heart shaped sunglasses were a guilty pleasure reminder of all the silly things they used to have exposure to, and took for granted. Most people smiled when she wore them, mistaking Laney for a non threat, which was just fine with her. And they were a quick and easy identifier for trades.
She'd told this Ollie person to meet her when the moon was high. She wasn't sure the exact time for that, but she guessed around midnight. It wasn't for her. She had no one to avoid, no one to know she was sneaking out. Since Rae had left, people were barely paying attention to her. The complaining woman in the sleeping bag next to her had stopped trying to feed her sob stories ever since Laney told her she'd cut her mouth off the next time she opened it. There was an awkward air left now, and it made the girl smirk deliciously at the thought of someone else thinking twice about talking just because of her. It was an empty threat, obviously, but she still got pleasure out of polishing her blade in bed.
But Ollie. She didn't know who he had paying attention to him. A girlfriend, a sister, a mother, or even just a doting friend? Laney didn't know, but she didn't want to chance tag-a-longs. If she arranged their meeting for such a late time, then he'd surely get the hint not to bring any extra weight along. Laney wasn't as friendly these days as she used to be. And she definitely wasn't as big of a fan of attention as she once was.
She also wasn't a fan of traveling alone in the dark. She'd done it before, when it was necessary, but today wasn't one of those times. So, she'd left early. No one paid her a second glance. She left quite frequently anyways, only to return hours, or even days later. People wouldn't miss her. And it was only about a half hour to forty five minute walk to the apartment building that they were meeting at. She figured with all the extra time, she could scout the place out, double check for roamers, and ensure their drunken safety. It probably wouldn't be too hard to clean the place up a bit, or at least put some clean sheets down on the dirty sofa so they wouldn't have to sit on Lord-knows-what.
When she got there, it didn't take her long to check out. She didn't bother going into all the apartments. She really only checked out the one they'd be hanging in. With a shut door, they couldn't be in much danger. So, she spent the rest of her time on the steps leading into the building, right outside the door like she'd said. The sun was just going down, so she had a long time to wait. "Might as well polish," she said, pulling out her sword, a cloth and an oil lantern that she'd picked up a few days before on one of her loots. Lighting it, she set to cleaning, keeping her eyes and ears open for anyone approaching.
