WHO: Leah, Rae and Marigold (NPC)
WHEN: Forward-dated to June 4, 2019; close to midnight
WHERE: Sing Sing; near the front gate
WHAT: The group returns from Jersey City with a few more people than they left with. One of those little people is Leah's daughter. Reunion! ;_;
RATING: Probs low, because kidlets are present, yo.
As always when people she cared about stormed off into unknown dangers, Leah was a nervous wreck. She genuinely tried not to be, because everyone who was going on this mission was capable. Brandon, Evan, Charlie, even Elliot was capable. They had every reason to come back alive and would do whatever it took to see it happen. Worry may not have been necessary, but it wasn’t like Leah had a switch that she could turn it on and off. Sneaking into a government facility where mothers and children were being held was a high risk mission, one that Leah would’ve been willing to help with more, if not for the fact that it involved infiltrating a place that kept women and children basically prisoners. Her own deep-seated fear of places like that kept her from being able to agree to help beyond the basic planning stages and dealing with the mole within their compound. It had been a long evening waiting for the group to return. Leah and Lilah had settled in one of the guard towers closest to the main gates of the prison. They played games for a while, chatted about inconsequential things, ate snacks, and did everything they could to keep themselves from worrying to death. When the van was sited, announcing the return of the rescue group, Lilah remained in the guard tower to clean up their things while Leah went down to the gate to greet the people returning. Everyone was filing out of the van by the time she arrived. Leah could see Rory and AJ, Zimmerman with Alghren, and there was Evan and Brandon and Charlie. None of them looked worse for wear, and there were even a few new faces in the small crowd. Leah hung back instead of approaching. She didn't want to crowd anyone, didn't expect any attention other than a nod of acknowledgement that she was there and she was aware that the people she cared about were safe. Everyone returning probably only wanted a good night's rest. She blinked when she realized that two members of the group were walking in her direction. Alghren and Zimmerman were the least likely people in the group to be approaching her after an ordeal like this, but she stood her ground anyway. When Zimmerman hung back a ways and Alghren continued toward her, leading a little girl by the hand, Leah's posture became more alert. |
