Who: Jae and Dev.
What: Craziness! Funtimes! Yaaay!
Where: The cafeteria, and then... well, where ever it is they happen to go afterward!
When: Early Sunday afternoon.
Rating: SFW.

“Dev!!” Jae exclaimed by way of greeting as he plopped into the seat across from her and set his bottle of orange juice down on the table, a big grin on his face. “Fancy seein' you here!”

When he'd come into the cafeteria some minutes earlier, he hadn't necessarily come seeking sustenance. In fact, he didn't really come here for any particular reason at all – he'd just gotten fed up with walking aimlessly around the Quad and decided to see if there was anyone he knew at the cafeteria grabbing some lunch, since it was around that time of the day anyway. This was why he really, really hated those days where he didn't have any activities to go to. It made him feel... really, really lost. And bored.

But lo and behold, as he was going through the line to grab himself a drink, he happened to look over and spot Dev. Judging by the expression on his face now, this had left him feeling pretty pleased, and he spread this merriment by reaching over and stealing a potato chip from her plate. “What's up? You doin' anything today?” He asked, popping the chip into his mouth. Food was always the most satisfying when it was mooched off of a friend.

How did Jae not like being a dog? It was one of those things that Devon would never understand. The second she hit the ground, made up solely of four paws and coiled enthusiasm, she was 'twittering' – the ultimate-happy African Wild Dog vocalization. She loved being in this form, all lean muscle and speed, built to run and chase and play. There was never any doubt in her mind about shifting; if she had the opportunity to shift, she was going to take it.

Glancing over her shoulder to track Jae's progress, Devon had a near miss with another student, her shoulder colliding with their knee. Oops. But she didn't play the yelling boy much mind (What did she care about his spilled soda?), instead choosing to slip past another student and through the open doors, letting out a loud, happy squeal as she hit the outdoors. She paused, turning sharply to the right as she waited for Jae to reach the doors himself. With any luck, he'd continue towards the lake, and she'd be able to sneak up behind him.

Well. It wouldn't be very sneaky, considering that she couldn't stop twittering (sometimes, the excitement got to her, okay?!), but it'd be fun anyway. Jae – the other dog, to her animal instincts – wasn't prey or enemy. They were friends, and she wanted to play. Besides, giving him a sporting chance... it was only fair. She was built for speed and agility, the ultimate canine predator, made to hunt gazelle and antelope on the African plains. Jae was fast, sure, but he was more stamina and strength. Getting closer to him would at least give him a chance to win.

After a few more minutes of running, Jae still couldn't see where Dev had gone... but his nose told him he was going the right way, and he could definitely hear her, waiting somewhere outside. It sounded like she'd stopped running for the most part, and, taking advantage of this, he picked up his pace, ears perked forward and his tongue lolling out of the side of his mouth comically as he raced toward the door leading outside.

Unfortunately for him, it seemed that someone had at some point spilled on something on the floor, and when he tried to run across it he slipped, feeling his fur stand on end as he suddenly felt himself doing the four-legged scramble across the floor and through the door. At the same moment, a young man who was trying to get inside let out a shout, and, presumably without really thinking about it, spread his legs wide so that Jae went zooming right between them. The good news was, Jae made it through... the bad news was, he'd straightened up at the wrong moment and not only accidentally nailed the poor kid in the balls, but sent him toppling forward onto his face.

Jae was a little too preoccupied by not tumbling over himself, though, and it took a minute or two of trying to regain his footing for him to actually do so, nails clicking against the concrete as he turned around a few times, stopped, and shook it off, his tail flying in every direction as he did. Ugh, his paws were all sticky now... briefly, he looked back over to the doorway and noted the guy laying there, hands clutched between his thighs and a string of expletives coming from his mouth. He felt his human side cringe. Poor dude.

His animal side, however, was much more interested in playing, and hearing the distinctive twittering of his best friend, he veered around with upturned ears, sniffed around a bit, and then took off toward the lake, his mouth opening to let out a loud, deep-voiced bark by way of saying, 'Here I come!!' As he ran, he tried not to let the excitement get to him too much and stay aware of his surroundings – couldn't let her jump him out of nowhere, now could he?? No, he could not!

She wanted to wrestle! The thought lashed through her mind like a whip. It was a quick change, to be sure, but that was about par for Devon. She was — well, she used the word 'adaptable', but that wasn't entirely true. She was distract-able. And that easily distracted part of her personality increased tenfold when she was running around wild. If she had put Jae in the place of prey, that wouldn't be true: she would focus and focus and win. But he wasn't prey. He was... her canine mind supplied 'littermate', and she grinned, tongue lolling out of her mouth. Exactly.

Which was why, despite being a good fifteen yards ahead of Jae, she swung around, changing course from the lake to instead barrel directly at him. Play, play, play. The idea of wrestling with Jae was ridiculous (he outweighed her by a good twenty pounds right now, if not more), but who cared? It wasn't like he would crush her or anything. She laughed at that idea, the sound translating as a high-pitched warble, and momentarily pictured a Jae sitting on a Devon's stomach. The image didn't last long, however, quickly whisked away by her excitement.
