HP Wankfest 2011

As promised, a tiny bit of advance info on how voting is going to work. It'll be the same as what we did in 2008, so those of you who were with us back then already know how it goes.

We'll put up a numbered list of all of the pieces.

Along with it, we'll post a poll (results viewable only by the mods) with text boxes. In each box you'll enter the number of the fic or art for which you want to vote in each category.

You'll be able to vote for your overall favorite fics and arts as well as the pieces that made the best use of their prompts.

Both participants and watchers are allowed to vote!

The poll will go up at noon U.S. Eastern time tomorrow -- Monday, May 30.

Since we know a number of people are still catching up with reading and viewing, we'll be leaving the voting open a little bit longer this time than we did in 2008. The poll will close after one week, at noon on Monday, June 6.

Fest reveals and awards will be posted on Thursday, June 9!

Some notes about the headers:

Character, Location, and Prop should be the ones you selected from the prompt table when signing up.

Other Characters is an optional place for you to list other characters (real or imagined) that are involved in your piece if you so choose.

Rating: Remember, as per the rules, all pieces should have at least an R rating.

Warnings: Please warn for any major squicks or an extreme kinks. You need not warn for things such as "explicit sexual situations" (duh) or "masturbation" (double duh). Don't feel that you must invent warnings; if your piece contains nothing extreme, simply leave this line out of your header.

Art Details is an optional place where artists may list additional details about their art such as media used, size of the art, etc.

Disclaimer is optional. You may include one if you wish; otherwise, leave it off.

Author's/Artist's Notes is an optional place for you to say anything else you'd like to mention about your piece or the creation thereof. Remember that this is an anonymous fest. Please do not list your betas by name or include any other obvious identifying information here. If you do, these will be removed by the mods until the fest is over.

Art Preview: is optional. Feel free to include one if you like.

In order to submit your piece:

Please send your piece as an attachment to the mods at wanking.mods@gmail.com. Fics should be sent as a .rtf or .doc file -- no Googledocs. If your fic requires any special formatting (bold, italics, etc.), be sure to include the appropriate HTML tags in your document. Art should be sent to us as well; we'll be hosting it for you. Make sure it's the size you want it to appear when posted.

We will begin accepting pieces any time. All fic and art is due Sunday, April 17, 2011.

We're looking forward to seeing what sort of wacky deviance you all come up with this time!

wanking_mods @ 06:50 pm: HP Wankfest 2011 Rules
We've returned with the rules for wanking. As one might imagine, there aren't very many. ;) There are a couple of minor changes since last time, though, so do be sure to read these.

Now that all of that's out of the way, this is how sign-ups will work:

Sign-ups will begin on Tuesday, February 1. The list of prompts will be posted, and participants will sign up by commenting to the post with their character, location, and object of choice. Each participant may sign up to contribute up to two pieces. Comments will be screened to preserve anonymity.

Note that this year we will be instituting a participant cap. We want everyone to be able to follow the fest without feeling overwhelmed and ankle-deep in splooge.

To compensate for the new participant cap, each person may only submit one sign-up for the first 48 hours of the sign-up period. We want to give everyone a fair chance to play. After that, it's a free for all.

The same prompts may be used by multiple authors/artists. Locations and objects (but not characters) will only be struck from the list and become unavailable after they've been chosen several (three or more) times.


The prompt table will be posted in a few days for your perusal. Also, we'll have shiny new advertising banners up in a day or two. There will be lots of fun things posted between now and May, so keep watching the comm. And tell your friends to be here or be frustrated!

Here's how Wankfest voting is going to work:

You'll be able to vote for your overall favorite wankfics and arts, the funniest wankfic and art, and the pieces that made the best use of their prompts.

Both participants and watchers will be able to vote.

The poll will go up at (more or less) midnight on Monday (U.S. Eastern time) and will remain open for four days -- until midnight on Friday.

Fest reveals and awards will be posted on Sunday, June 15!
