It was hard to see anything in the swirl of billowing princess dresses and long cat tails and fake Death Eater masks. The smoke that hung in the air stung her eyes, the candlelight from the jack o’lanterns casting an eerie glow over the people standing in her path.
She pushed her way through the crowd, jostling elbows, feeling splatters of what she hoped was butterbeer land on her shiny black dress.
"Why are you going as a Muggle witch if you are a witch?" Ron had stared at her flabbergasted as she had carefully magicked her face earlier that evening, turning her skin green and making her nose pointed.
But she didn’t care what her brother thought.
She shoved her way between two people staring lustfully at each other and felt her heart leap into her throat.
Before her, adorned in an actual pumpkin, her face lit by a candle that looked like it was coming from inside her, was the most beautiful woman Ginny had ever seen.
The woman’s eyes found Ginny’s, took in her outfit, and then she smiled, the most wonderful smile.
"It’s perfect," Luna said, and Ginny moved toward her, greeting her with a kiss.
