Nigel could not settle his breaths, which sharpened more as the seconds passed. Hidden in an alley, tucked away behind a dumpster, he hid from the authorities as they inspected another victim to his hunger. This one was not the nicest guy, an older gentleman who dressed well and seemed a successful businessman. He was rude and barked at Nigel for walking too slow and, with some sort of road rage building up inside, he could not help but sink fangs into skin. Yet another one gone, and while he was a horrible man all around, such a realization did make things easier. It was still another life gone and, like always, he began to pray silently for forgiveness.
He wanted to go to a church, talk to a preacher, but the clergy would likely think him to be mad. He was mad and that was the first of several reasons he could not seek spiritual conference. It would pain him, physically, to do so and this saddened him greatly. Confused and guilt-stricken, he remained there until the authorities finally left, never finding him among the shadows. Once the chaos in the streets quieted down and he felt safe in being the only one lingering in the alley, he finally released an agonizing sob. Would this ever end?
