Who. Dahlia and open.
When. Sunday afternoon, before the rain starts.
Where. The beach, on a log. (Descriptive, I know.)
What. While Jenny is exploring nearby, Dahlia waits not-so-patiently for her return.
Rating. TBA.
Lucy sat quietly and calmly, her head resting almost peacefully in the brunette's lap as she stroked the smooth fut between her ears. It was only after some convincing on Dahlia's part that Jenny finally agreed to go look around. Understandably, she hadn't wanted to leave her blind wife alone on a beach with strange animals and people, but she finally agreed to go only if Dahlia stayed where she was at, to which she gave a little half smile and replied, "I'll do my best."
A few minutes passed by, five at the most, and she was already anxious for her wife's return. She was nearby; Jenny wouldn't go off far and was most definitely within yelling distance, but that did little to calm Dahlia's wire-tight nerves. The only thing keeping her from screaming for Jenny to come back was the weight in her lap and the gentle, warm breaths that Lucy puffed against her arm.
"We're gonna be okay," she assured the dog, and even if Lucy had no idea what she was saying, just repeating those words aloud made her feel as though she might actually believe them. They had a leader, and even if Dahlia wasn't so sure he knew what he was doing, he at least had enough sense to assign people jobs. Her job, apparently, was to sit still and wait, since it wasn't as though she could help with much of anything else. She couldn't build shelter, couldn't help with the fire, and she definitely couldn't go exploring.
She felt helpless.
Blinking back tears, Dahlia wiped at her sweat-dappled forehead with the back of her hand and tried not to think about how she was almost sure something (things?) were crawling around her.
