WELCOME TO SERENITY. We hope you like it here.

Welcome to Serenity. It's a small little town located nowhere in particular, and at first glance, that's all it is. There's nothing overtly threatening about this town or most of its residents, at least not when you first get here. If you were going by first impressions, the only especially interesting thing about the town is that they've got the best view of the eclipse this year. And even then, it's arguable that that's not actually interesting so much as it is a standard fact.

But first impressions can be misleading, right?

Whatever the reason, the eclipse has proven to have some kind of effect on super-human abilities in people, and a whole slew of individuals from all kinds of places and universes are now discovering them while the few that have already discovered them now seem to be temporarily losing them.

Enter present day Gotham. A man, locked away deep within the walls of Arkham Asylum, is only aware of the eclipse because of something his therapist said. But that's hardly what's on his mind right now -- he's discovering an ability, one that's most peculiar. He's recently discovered the power to, quite literally, rip holes in the universe. As he's mulling over all the possible ways he can terrorize the city and a certain Bat with this newfound ability, he makes a large slip-up, landing himself right in the middle of Serenity.

Still unsure of how to use the power, the man has no choice but to wander to the end of town, quickly finding out that there's no way out. Again, quite literally -- high walls surround the town, with 'No Exit' signs placed periodically to indicate the fact that there is, indeed, no exit.

Being the person that he is, he makes a split second decision: instead of using his ability to try and get himself out -- despite whatever's beyond the city walls -- he would use it to bring other people in, for no particular reason and in no particular order. This would be a new game for him to play, more fun than the one in Gotham.

And he does exactly that. People from all different times, places, and universes have now been finding themselves being plucked from the lives they've come to know and landing in this tiny town, most typically waking up in an apartment that they haven't seen before in their life with a roommate they've never met in the exact same predicament. Let the games begin.

BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT LEAVING.

It's 1999 and Wizarding Britain is a very different place. Voldemort controls a puppet Ministry and is seeking to expand his grasp into Europe and, eventually, the world. But he is not unopposed. There are many resistance groups working to keep him from accomplishing his goal and, among these, there is one that stands out from the crowd: The Order of the Phoenix.

Secreting Muggleborns out of the country to keep them from enduring the horrors of Ministry-run "work camps", the Order is fighting a losing battle. Their last hope lies with a carefully guarded secret: The identity and location of The Prophesied One.

Sic Infit explores the possibilities of what could have happened had James and Lily Potter stuck with Sirius as their Secret Keeper. What could have happened if Harry had never become The Boy Who Lived? What if Lord Voldemort had actually won?

PENPAL: an epistolary rpg
The word that is heard perishes, but the letter that is written remains.

In today's technological world of text messages, emails, and cell phones, the art of letter writing often goes ignored and unappreciated. This community is an attempt to revive this lost art and use it as a means of character development for roleplayers and other writers. Instead of focusing on threading, AIM, or journal entries, [info]penpal's main form of interaction will be letters (and emails) between fictional characters who have joined a website to form new long-distance friendships through the written word.

The community is scheduled to open after 10 applications, and we are seeking dedicated, character-oriented writers who are willing to try an atypical style of roleplaying. There is no AIM requirement and no storylines community, and there are no restrictions on location or PB. All characters and writers must be age 18 or older. For more information, visit the mod journal, or click the links below.
