Since we are trying to create a new society, we need a list of bank holidays and I wanted your suggestions.

Already down: Christmas, Boxing Day New Year's, Good Friday, Easter and Easter Monday, Remembrance Day.

Any other suggestions? We're aiming for one a month.

Padma

You have carte blanche in studying the castle magic and the time travel. I've spoken to Regulus to put a rule that any study done through the DoM is legal.

Call it a hunch, but I don't think that the castle did this. I think we might have done this and the magic morphed or we did something to the castle. I don't know.

Ron/Hermione/Draco

I was talking to Jamie while putting clues together and it became obvious that the clues are made for us (or me). My gut says that someone was fucking with fertility and we knew something was coming, so we created some kind of spell that brought us back. Just a hunch but my hunches tend to be right.

What do you think? Am I being too arrogant here?

You mean the idea we had when you first found that letter that the letter was for you FROM you might be right? Seems legitimate.

So I'm adding Draco and Padma to this because they are good with weird magic and I don't want to have this conversation twice.

Things we know:
1) There was a prophecy about the end of the world and Hermione knew about it.
2) According to the papers, there were experiments to increase pregnancies.
3) According to all the younger ones, there were plenty of legal spells experimented through the world, including some cocoon spell in Germany that allowed gay couples to have kids, making new spells utterly unnecessary.

Things I'm thinking about.
1) Hermione would never keep that prophecy to herself. It was too big and even she couldn't do it alone.
2) We got the DA involved. It would work with Padma making a public scene and quitting, because is she really the one to make a scene? And who better than to help with this research?
3) There were rumours that the old generations of all lineages were upset. What if they joined forces? What if their spells, whether clones or forced pregnancies, are the ones who got out of hand and we tried to come up with spells to bring society back?
4) Pure conjecture, but if we created the spell, maybe we planned to bring us back in our 'older age'. If things had to be rushed because Hermione and Padma were dying, then the spell might have not been finished. Or the magic at Hogwarts morphed it.

Yes, I know all of this are hunches, BUT all the clues until now are tailor made for me. As Jamie said, either we are the worst at creating clues for people or we created the clues for us.

It sounds about right to me. I've thought from the beginning that it was all a bunch of bullshit, and the clues are way too specific for anyone else to make sense of them, so this all seems very logical to me.

It does make sense. I think it's probably a good idea to keep researching from both angles, to get the best possible results.

I'd say put more focus on Harry's theory. If it's true then it changes how we interact with the castle, and maybe we could get some more control over this situation. And Harry is rarely wrong about this sort of thing.

Why is it you never get hunches about good things like an ancient scholarly tract's discovery or a new line of shoes at Twilfitt's?

Are we sure you lot aren't just rubbish at clues?

Right.

So, Time magic alone couldn't do something like this. I'd already considered the possibility of Death magic being used as well. But, what you're suggesting is a likely amalgamation of experiments with anything from fertility spells to Blood magic, Familial magic to compulsion spells...plus whatever was done to fix it, which seems likely to have contained elements of Time, Death, and possibly even Thought magic, although I also wouldn't rule Love out as a component, either. On top of that the possibility something went wrong in casting, was left unfinished, or reacted with the inherent magic of the castle in an unforeseen way.

This is going to take resources, Harry. Hogwarts' library is extensive, but it doesn't contain nearly enough on these subjects. What you were all able to scavenge from the residences is a hodge podge that still needs a good deal of sorting. But, if you think Hermione and I were working on the spell together, then I need to go to my parents' estate. If I was still living in a flat in the city, I'd have gone there to do any work I couldn't safely do at the Ministry. We're all too thorough or paranoid to have left much behind, but better a wasted trip than not finding something we might need.

If you can find more pieces of the puzzle as to who and why, that will help, too. Someone should take all those back issues of the papers you collected and go through them with a fine tooth comb looking to any and all possible leads as to what the actual socio-political situation was. Other than the younger generations' observations, that's our only source of information right now. Until more clues can be found.

I'm going to need to call consultants other than my team in as well, Harry. There are too many people here with a background in esoteric magic of some kind not to use them. Dumbledore, Snape, both your sons, your father and his friends, Draco's father, Regulus Black. Also others in areas that might be useful are my sister, Marlene, your mother, and Roxanne. So, I need you to give me the official story because I assume we're not telling everyone the whole truth.

I did get a hunch about where to find ice cream once. I think that's my contribution to good things.

I mean if it was just me, sure, but I'd never think of recreating the chess game Ron played in our first year to find the Sorcerer's Stone and Ron said it from the start that the letter old me wrote seemed written for me. Maybe that's why we left the clues that we left? Enough that we'd know something is up, in case there were people coming back that aren't us.

How about you and Hermione start working together again and get your department up to speed? Draco can join you as well. In fact, feel free to take anyone you need. I did mean it when I said you have carte blanche here.

Just take Parvati with you when you go to the house, just in case there's any trouble. I'll be spending my days in Diagon Alley until we find the other clues. I'll take Jamie with me when he's not working with you. Remus and Regulus are good with keeping track of things and have a very analytical mind. They can go back to the papers and read them with a different eye. Any new laws can wait. It's not like we even have jails and no one will do anything stupid.

You know I'm sick of secrets and I think everyone here deserves to know what's going on. I don't know why this people, but most are people we trust or people that are trusted by the people we trust. Maybe we should tell them the truth and admit that we're going on a hunch from me. I think in the long run, it might be more helpful than keeping secrets to protect people who are long dead.

It was really good ice cream.

That letter was really specific, so I think this hunch is a good one. It makes sense.

I think I agree about telling everyone the truth. Aside from Nott and Lucius Like Harry said, pretty much everyone here is someone we trust, more or less.

I was being facetious, Potter. I may worry about the collective sanity between you three from time to time, but I know you're not stupid.

Right. So, Hermione and Draco, you can join Peter and Theo and I this afternoon. We can use our usual brainstorming meeting to bring the two of them up to speed and start divvying up tasks. I'll talk to my sister about going home this weekend. That will give me tomorrow to coordinate with Remus and Regulus. I'll also make a list of who else I want to bring in. Most of them can split time with research and their current jobs, I think.

I'm going to suggest that if you really want to tell everyone, don't do it in journals. You don't want it in writing in case somehow someone you never intended is brought back or someone from the outside cracks those filters. I can reach out to the consultants after you make an announcement.

I also don't think we can experiment now, though. Academic research only until we have a better idea of what we're dealing with. This isn't just testing the castle's magic any longer.

All right then talk to your people today. I will speak to everyone tomorrow morning before the start of the work day and then you can tell everyone.
