Entry tags:character: draco malfoy, character: peter pettigrew, character: scorpius malfoy, unused: cassandra trelawney

RP: Cassandra & Scorpius
Who: Cassandra & Scorpius Malfoy
Later: Draco & Scorpius, Cass & Peter
When: Late Morning, March 10
Where: Wandering the grounds
What: Scouting a location for the new greenhouses

One of the greatest things Cassandra was enjoying about the modern era was the fact that a woman could wear trousers and no one cared. She didn't have to deal with layer after layer after layer of bullshit every morning anymore and if she didn't want to, she didn't have to wear her hair up. Gloves, outside of those for winter, had gone the way of the dodo. Dressing in the mornings was so much simpler. Although there was also a lamentable lack of deep pockets... Thankfully, the heavy cloak she had over everything else had pockets abounds and it meant she was ready to go out.

Almost immediately after breakfast, she had disappeared outside to start scouting around the grounds. She carried in front of her a Y-shaped branch from a hazel tree - a rather traditional dowsing rod though instead of hidden pockets of water (of which there were many around Hogwarts), she was seeing good spiritual energy. It probably looked very silly to anyone who saw her, watching her pace about for a minute, then hold out a stick, shake her head, and move on. The process had been going for a good hour by now and she'd made very little progress.

The land around Hogwarts was so scarred, she was almost afraid there wouldn't be a good spot. Now, she was paused and staring up at the whomping willow that hadn't been on the grounds when she was a girl. Thankfully, she was just out of reach of it so the occasional ominous creak was just the tree settling in the cold. "... Right. The other way then."

"A Malfoy with an attitude. I'm shocked," he said, shaking his head. "Although as bad as his attitude was, Lucius is much worse. I wouldn't wish him on my worst enemy. He's truly evil."

Peter shrugged. "They think that everyone's family is low for one reason or another. I have Muggle relatives, you don't follow convention, the wrong house, wrong dress robes, wrong job, and they get to decide what's right or wrong."

He looked around. "Or you are tiring yourself too much for no reason. Once we create the greenhouses and we work to get it set up, then the land will come alive too, just like the castle feels more... alive. You've got to give it time. Since it's not ingredients, we need something fairly flat but not at the foot of a hill or all the water will go there."

"Then why is he allowed to run freely?" She asked, arching an eyebrow. Forgiving people for things they hadn't done yet was one thing but if Lucius was really that bad, lock him up and throw away the key at the very least. She was all too familiar with families like that so she just frowned. They weren't worth the conversation.

"I'm always tired, Peter," she confessed quietly, "My visions are likely killing me - slowly but surely." Cassandra pulled one of her arms out of her cloak to loop it through his. "Flat and away from this godforsaken tree. But properly flat in Scotland is hoping for too much. I suppose we could change the land or level them on posts," she suggested as if she hadn't just said something terrible.

"I have no idea," Peter admitted. "I'm not really in the in-crowd in case that wasn't obvious. I guess I can't complain too much since I gave information to the likes of Malfoy. I'm also sure Snape and Black were Death Eaters too. Snape apparently changed sides, I heard, but Regulus died at eighteen. Sirius assumed that he did something to upset Voldemort. Either way, he did something."

Peter frowned. "That's... I'm sorry. I didn't know it was that bad. I know you said you see plenty, but not this way." He looked at the tree, not sure what i had done to upset her. "True, but that's why we have blasting charms. You get place somewhat flat and makes sure that it is. I mean it must have been done for the other greenhouses, the pitch and even the castle. We'll find something that suits us." You might want to get closer to the castle though. It's flatter, probably done on purpose for the students."

"You did what you had to," she reaffirmed her position, the same she'd said over the journals. "I don't know Snape or his family but it's unsurprising that the Blacks were in on such things. My headmaster here was a Black. He rather despised children in general. I've never understood the dislike of Muggleborns."

She shrugged again, ignoring how tired she felt. She hadn't had a proper night's sleep since she'd arrived but then again, she rarely ever did. And the tree hadn't done anything - she just didn't trust it. "One does not have to blast everything out of the way," she chuckled softly but he wasn't wrong, of course. "I was hoping to have a little space away from it, honestly. Hidden away from noisy children, endless omens, everything. Do you think we should have bees as well?" It was likely a little odd how she bounced from one subject to another but sorting out the jumble in her head took too much time.

"I know, but it shows that favourites always existed and will always exist. Sirius and James were always the favourites. I don't think they understand what it's like to make sacrifices." Everyone knew of Phineas Black, but it was interesting to hear it from someone who lived through it. "They made an exception for him too, married with children. All too often professors and headmasters can't have families."

Peter shifted her hand to his other hand and put an arm around her, arm going down her back and his hand resting on her waist. "Is this acceptable?" He wasn't sure what was allowed or not, but it was something he would have done with one of his cousins. "One doesn't, but it can be so much fun," he said with a grin.

"I can see why, but it's for food. Lots of carrying, heavy things. I don't know if you want it too far. Besides, thirty people in this castle? You won't even notice them, and by the time we have a full school, I'm sure we'll be settled elsewhere." He shrugged. "I have no idea. I never really thought about bees and have no idea how you care for them."

"Well, you'll be my favourite if you don't mind," she confessed with a smile. She had been the favourite amongst her family, the reasons for it being obvious and she wondered if it soured her brothers towards her. There were so many of them but she had the gift; she would be head of the family. "They really should not have made the exception. He was a foul little man."

Cassandra peered up at him as they walked, as that arm came around her, and nodded slightly with the softest, 'mm-hmm.' "Such a terribly Gryffindor thing to say," she laughed, shaking her head slightly, loose curls falling into her face.

"Peter, we can levitate the food and baskets. That much isn't going to hurt it," and the house-elves could help as they seemed to have their own spells to transport such things back and forth, but that reminder she saved for herself. "Bees generally keep themselves and you have to apprise them of important occurrences or they'll leave," though she expected he had never heard of the importance of speaking to the bees.

Cassandra pressed her lips together for a moment, mischief in her eyes just before she asked, "Do you think Scorpius is prettier than me?" Entrapment at its finest.

Peter couldn't imagine being anyone's favourite, but her smile was infectious and he smiled back. "I like that although-" He looked around, before tilting his head toward hers and lowers his voice as if sharing a secret. "They might think you're mad," he joked as he pulled his head up. "There will always be exceptions for the rich and famous unfortunately."

He laughed. "I can be a terrible Gryffindor, but what I say remains true. I bet you'll relax if you started blasting things."

He suppose with magic it wouldn't be that back, but it still seemed so inconvenient. "I guess I've done enough things by hand at my grandparents' house, with my cousins around so I couldn't do magic, that I think of that too." He frowned. "I have no idea what that means, but all right. Do we spell them so they don't sting us when we take the honey?"

Peter was still a marauder, even if the others weren't speaking to him at the moment, and couldn't help himself. "Oh, I'd say it's clo-" He started to laugh. "I know better than to answer that one."

She laughed, whispering right back, "They already think I'm mad. I'm a Seer. It comes with the territory." Cassandra was also very happy to just hang on his arm and walk. Who needed greenhouse planning? Even vain gender-confusing Malfoys couldn't ruin that - though s/he nearly had. She felt slightly ashamed at his last comment though - her name was all over books in the library. Cassandra - the celebrated Seer.

And maybe he was right but there was something so chaotic about the idea that she just couldn't fathom it. Order and neatness had been drilled into her from childhood. "Telling things to the bees is tradition. It is believed if you do not update them as to the state of the house, they will abandon to the hive," as for taking the honey, "There can be charmed suits but you can just use woodsmoke to make them sleepy."

With his laugh at that very near insult, she made a displeased sound and (lightly) hit his middle with her free hand. "Cad!" but then she was laughing as much as he was, "I shan't continue my flirtations if you don't flatter me."

"Way to reinforce their beliefs." He knew they were joking around, but he couldn't forget what she had just admitted. "How much pain are you usually in? Is there something that we can do to make it better? Because there has to be something."

He had never met anyone who knew so much about the outdoors. They were city boys except Remus, but he didn't think even he knew about fields and bees. They had more important things to worry about like werewolves and wars. "That sounds... crazy until you consider that we have a castle that's casting some extremely complex magic to bring forth people from the past without changing the time line." He shook his head. "I can't believe you know that."

He moved his hand in a rolling motion as he bowed down. "I am indeed, my lady. "Is that what we were doing? Flirting? I suppose if we are, I can tell you what beautiful eyes you have. I should also inform you that I am terrible at this."

She exhaled softly, glancing away from him this time, "Usually, I can ignore it. Just a small point behind my eyes. Other times, I cannot even stand candlelight." She didn't know what a migraine was - or at least the term for it and treating headache pain wasn't considered particularly important 100+ years ago. It was a symptom, not its own individual problem. "I've tried every potion and herbal remedy. Even Muggle pills. Nothing touches them."

Talking about bees was far more enjoyable. That, and her time in the outdoors. Her headaches only got worse if she acknowledged them. "Trelawneys used to be druids. That too was tradition," but she seemed to be the last one to care about it. As the cities and towns crowded out the world, farming, nature, and its associated magic was going by the wayside. Or... it had?

A soft, nearly silent laugh escaped her at that ridiculous bow, his admission of his cad nature bringing a smile back. "I am. I don't know about you," and she certainly wasn't going to force him. But he was following up with a compliment and she squeezed his hand gently, "I think you're doing fine. The last time I smiled this much... I was eleven and I was hiding in the library with Albus after a professor had made me feel utterly terrible about having a vision in class."

"So you get headaches? Migraines? I'm pretty sure that Muggles have come up with some strong pills that would not have existed in your time. Of course the downside is that we don't know what they would do to you. Or your gift," Peter said, almost as if thinking out loud on the last part. "I know we have potions too, but I don't know if they help as much. Muggles have been rather powerful in healing."

Peter tilted his head. "I've heard the term something to do with people around the time of Merlin, but I'm not sure what it means. It sounds like it meant a lot to you."

He shrugged. "I don't know. I'm talking to a woman who sounds kind and smart and interesting. If I thought we were flirting, I probably would have been much worse," he admitted, remembering some of his terrible attempts when Sirius had convinced him to talk to a girl he liked. "That professor was terrible, but I'm glad you had someone to make you smile."

"If that's what you call 'sick headaches', then I suppose so," she dropped her gaze again as he went on. No, they had no idea what would happen but she would honestly try anything if it meant her head didn't hurt as often. Cassandra just listened though, having long since given up on trying to end her headaches.

"The natural wild magic of the UK before..." she gestured towards the castle with a shrug, "It's taught me a lot about herbology, nature, healing." But those things had never been her path. Her destiny had been predetermined - or so she had thought. She was almost afraid to look into the textbooks about herself.

"As soon as you asked what was wrong with the moon, I decided you belonged to me - even if it was just friendly," she confessed with a slight shrug. That was probably strange but if neither of them was actually good at flirting then they were both doing just fine. She stopped them in their walk, the path on the grounds having led them to an area nearer to the castle but the actual classroom greenhouses were in the distance, just barely visible over a small crest of hill. "What about here?"
