Enyo frowned. She was not entirely sure if she should be pleased that Greece was basically a territory of Rome or irritated. In the plus column:
She and Ares finally got their due among the Romans. If they wanted to call her, Bellona and he, Mars, fine. She was on the shields, he on the coins. Both had more temples and military worship than they ever did in Greece's reign. The Romans got war.
Rome had an expanding Republic of the likes no one could fathom. The whole Persian invasion of Greece had been an irritant, but, she had Rome now.
The Republic kept most financial issues under control, so the cities she'd preferred not to see give up on campaigns for petty reasons, had resources sent to them in a timely fashion. Not like when Athens was too busy molesting young boys or stoning women to death in the name of high-society to send any ships to aid anyone.
There was probably more. But in the negative column:
There was no autonomy of the cities. Thrace could not do as Thrace wanted. Whoever the Praetor was that was responsible for the province Thrace was part of made those decisions.
The Barbarians were invading the Northern Roman territories and were getting close to succeeding. She knew. She had been helping deflect. Which wouldn't have been an issue if her and Ares' former glorious armies were still the glorious armies they had been, except...
Sparta had become a sort of tourist attraction among the well-to-do Romans.
On one hand, the marketplace had expanded and the food had improved, on the other hand, some traditions had changed. But, the Romans seemed to find amusement in watching the Spartans oil up and train so... it was what it was. Rome proper loved their gladiators, so, she'd just take what she could.
Dressed richly, because she could, but with her tunica a bit more... open and flesh baring than some of the other women would have. She was not modest, she was not married, and it was hot. Even then, she was still covered in enough jewelry that the Romans thought she was getting into the spirit of the location since Spartan women had been known to walk around partially naked. It was so scandalous.
She just wanted to roll her eyes.
But then someone was talking to her. She looked over and was a little confused by the over all... paleness of the woman. This was no local. Not just in coloring but... something else, too. Oh. Lovely. A foreign deity. Enyo wasn't sure what this girl was doing here. Come to watch the demonstration? To watch the formerly glorious army train like as if they are monkeys? This city was so dear to Enyo that it sort of was bittersweet returning.
“Choice?” She asked, a bit confused. “For what?” Her face was not unfriendly, just a bit unaccustomed to be interrupted by strangers. Then she looked around. “You mean the food. That depends what sort of food you are in the mood for or enjoy. Have you had Greek food before?” Enyo was going to assume yes since the girl was speaking quite clearly, but that didn't actually mean anything.
