The Enemy Of My Enemy [Sparta, 102 BCE] (tag: Enyo)
Hel made sure she was polished and perfect before arriving on the streets of Sparta. It might be a bit risky; she was unused to the heat and it didn't do good things to her makeup, or the delicate skin deftly hidden underneath. If she had to, she would take the food back home to eat it.
Food was what had brought Hel here in the first place. She was hungry for traditional Greek food. Dinners in the Underworld with Nyx and Erebos had made her appreciate the local cuisine, and she had woke up that morning craving it. While she knew she was more than welcome, she didn't want to just show up at Hades' gate and beg a meal. She was a big girl now, and there was no reason she couldn't go get something herself.
She chose Sparta because she had heard it was easier for a woman to travel alone. So many locations in that area of the world demanded a woman be escorted, if she went out at all. They were a very "woman-under-heel" type society, to her mind. Sparta, it proved was as different from that as she'd been lead to believe.
She made her way through the market place, peeking at the various vendors to see what called to her. So many delicious choices! Looking around, she wondered if there was someone who could give her a bit of advice. She was a stranger, and while Sparta might be a little more forward thinking than some of the other cities, they still might not be overly friendly to foreigners.
Hel's eye caught a woman of particular style and grace. More than that, the second she looked at her, she felt that tingle associated with another deity. Wonderful! All the Greek deities were so delightful, and here was a new one she could meet!
Making her way over, Hel tried to look friendly without smiling too broadly. That, too, would do nothing for her skin "condition". "Good afternoon," she greeted the unknown goddess. "I wonder if you could help me, please? I'm a bit overwhelmed with all the choices. Can you recommend anything?"
