Well, the arrival of Hermes had been surprise number one. That the invitation was for her was surprise number two. Who the invitation was actually from was surprise number three. Frigg thanked him, politely and then had turned to her husband with no idea on how to react. Obviously she was not going to refuse. That was never an option that ever crossed her mind. But she was young. She was not worldly at all. She knew next to nothing about anything beyond their worlds and on top of that -was extremely green in her roles both as wife and Lady of Asgard. It wasn't like Jord had ever prepared her for the latter. It wasn't like Jord had ever done the latter herself.
The extent of Odin's advice was that the Egyptians were colorful and ornate people, they had a lot of fancy things, that they were all very intelligent and educated, a bit about what happened with Isis' husband and that it was hot there. “How hot?” She had asked him for clarification. “Summer drought hot?” Odin's answer: no, worse.
Frigg had no idea how to dress for that, then. She did her best.
She thought the colors and embroidery were lovely enough. Though, even though once the heat hit her, she was grateful for the lightness of the fabric of her dress, Frigg instantly coveted whatever that flowing and almost liquidy fabric it was the locals were wearing. At least she had thought ahead enough to have Fulla help braid her hair to get it up off her neck.
Chin up, no matter how uneasy and nervous she actually was, Frigg approached what appeared to be the right place and walked up to a person standing outside it. After she had started to speak was when she realized that they certainly did not speak her language and she did not speak theirs. That complicated matters.
Pausing, she thought for a moment, then smiled and gestured from herself, then to the temple, then back to herself. Which seemed to have some effect as she was led just inside and then instructed to wait a moment by a raised hand.
Alright. Unsure what to do with her hands, Frigg just folded them together in front of her and looked at everything around her without having to move from where she was. She needed to be careful. She did not want to embarrass Odin.
