A Royal Invitation [shortly after Frigg and Odin's marriage] (tag:Frigg)
Thoth tended to call Hermes a "scamp", but Isis had never found him anything less than respectful and considerate. This had been proven once again when he came to see the Egyptian queen with exciting news, knowing she would want to know.
The news was that Odin had remarried. Whatever Isis might think of him dumping his former wife in favor of her daughter, was not to be shared with the young Greek messenger. It would be unseemly to gossip in such a manner with a foreigner about another foreigner. Feelings aside, she didn't know the facts of it, so anything she said would be unfair and unkind.
In Egypt, divorce was hardly uncommon, and could be instigated by either sex. Sometimes things just didn't work out, and why make everyone miserable? Perhaps this was no different, and Odin just happened to find someone else right away. Anything was possible, she supposed.
While Hermes very politely refused refreshment, he was generous enough to agree to deliver a message for her. While he might be Zeus' messenger, he was kind, and knowing Isis had never secured her own messenger was more than happy to help her out. As he put it, there was nothing pressing that required his attention at the moment. Such a gentle young god! How proud Zeus must be, she mused to herself as she scripted her message.
It was a humble request from the Queen of Egypt to the new Queen of Asgard to join her in her temple for refreshments, worded in a manner that made it sound like it was entirely Isis' honor. She wasn't concerned that the invitation might be refused.
Diplomatic ties were important. Building such relations was beneficial to both sides. Never mind how incredibly curious she was to see who Odin had selected this time. Isis wasn't sure she believed all of his choices were as wise as he wanted people to think.
