Adventure Time [a long time ago] (tag: Loki)
A little bit after this.
This was all Loki's fault. Sigyn couldn't help but shove that blame at the Trickster as she stood there, snowflakes collecting in her hair, while the group of them ringed her in a circle. All male, as far as she could tell. Though she wasn't sure if that was a disadvantage. Perhaps she could play on their expectations, make them underestimate her. Maybe she could get away.
After that, she could figure out how to get the ropes off her wrists and just where she was. The first shouldn't be much of a problem. The second, though, might get a bit tricky. She'd tried to keep track, as she'd been marched off through the woods, but she was a tad uncertain. And the very last thing she wanted to do was run further into the territory populated by an every increasing number of what she was pretty sure were frost giants. They hadn't exactly introduced themselves, so she was just guessing.
First there had been one with a squashed up face and broad nose trying to detain her, and he was quickly joined by a second who did detain her. Then they made her start walking and when they finally stopped to let her rest, there were four of them. Standing around her now like compass points. She decided not to ask which of them was North. They didn't look like they had a great sense of humor between the four of them.
This was not the way this trip was supposed to go. This was going to be an adventure, she was going to see new places, meet new people. Well. She'd met new people. Sigyn decided she didn't like new people. But had seemed like such a great idea just a few days ago. And it was all Loki's fault.
Him and his “lectures are worth life experience” and “screw what other people say.” It had gotten into her head. She should get out more. She should see thing for herself, beyond the safe places that she went to gather painting materials. Then she could have her own stories to tell, and the next time she saw Loki's smug face, she could tell him she didn't need any of his. Not that she'd planned on speaking to Loki again. Ever. He was just too much of a drama-queen.
So she'd gotten her things together and first gone through an area she knew well. When she reached a place that she'd never been before, Sigyn had just kept going. And that had been exciting itself, though the terrain had also kept her interested. The second day passed much the same as the first, and Sigyn had gone to sleep with a sense of personal satisfaction. She'd expected the third day to go just as well, and the first half of it had.
Then Squashnose and his brother came along, joined by their buddies, and here she was. Trying to figure out how to get out of this mess. This was not the sort of adventure she'd been looking for. But it was the one she got, and it wasn't as though anybody was coming to rescue her. Sigyn was just going to have to rescue herself. If only she had an idea how to do that.
The best thing she could think of was to stall to give herself more time to come up with a plan. So she lifted her chin, and as though she were Frigg, she said in tones that suggested she would brook no argument because she was a lady, “I am hungry. I hope one of you knows how to hunt, because I'm not taking another step until I am fed. Really. Is this how you treat all your female guests?”
