She had to give him credit. He did not use his obvious handicap as an excuse. He did seem to manage well enough getting around on his own. That was a good thing, because there was no way she could ever carry such a large god. She would not want to embarrass him by calling Ares for help. She supposed that as his wife, no matter how unappealing that was, she should help him keep his dignity.
Aphrodite was pleased when he held the door for her. The man did have better manners than his brother, that much was obvious. Which just made it more obvious that Hera did not raise him. The ones that did raise him seemed to have done a fairly good job. Except for that chaining his mother to the throne thing, Heph seemed like an all right guy. Too bad she wasn’t in love with him.
She kept her pace the same as his as they walked along the pathways. She didn’t want to make him self-conscious and she was interested in what he was saying. And in the way he was saying it. Heph had a truly romantic side to him. His face might not show much emotion, but she was impressed with his words. Mentioning her grace and beauty showed how smart and observant he was. It also told her a bit about how he felt about her.
“You’re going to build us a palace? Here?” She had always had the most beautiful temples on the mortal world. To have the best home on Olympus would be wonderful. The location that her husband had picked was spectacular. “This spot is amazing. Look at the view here. What kind of palace are you thinking about?” She could not let him build anything tacky or she would never live it down.
