Temptation [several weeks before Sigyn and Loki's wedding] (tag: Sigyn)
After listening to Loki go on and on about his future bride, Odin felt it was time to check her out for himself. He was delighted to find she was everything Loki said and more- she was bright, beautiful, and incredibly unique as the women of Asgard went. This one didn't conform to their standards, but found her own path and her own joys.
He had first stumbled upon her painting alone one afternoon, and made a friendly point of admiring her work. Not so gushy that she would suspect his motives, but enough that she would be flattered. He continued to find excuses to be in odd places when she was, always by herself, weaving his spell slowly about her. Sigyn intrigued him, and he never turned his back when a woman perked his interest. Even Frigg had been his step-daughter when he first cast his eye her way. Taboo was not a word in his vocabulary. Sigyn may be promised to his best friend, but the wedding hadn't happened yet, and Odin was determined to taste this particular fruit before marriage soured it.
So it was that the two of them were sitting in the grass, having a quiet discussion by the lake. He knew how to play the game and was pointing out unique patterns and colors through the trees, or on the water's surface, and asking questions about her paints and how she created them. He was playing to her talents and her interests, all the time acting as if there was nothing in the Nine Worlds more interesting.
"What of this blade of grass, my dear? What do you see there?" He reached across her to indicate a particular blade that was wider and taller than the rest around it. Feigning the need for balance as he reached, he laid one hand upon her thigh as he pointed. Yet as he leaned back again to await her answer, he left his hand where it was.
