Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: Izzy/Olivia & Peter
WHEN: Jan 3rd, 09 @ 1pm
WHERE: 5th Ave shopping strip
WHAT: Izzy accidentally inserts her body into her twin's & Peter plays hero again
RATING: pg

Izzy had been having the weirdest dreams lately. She couldn't explain them to anyone, not even Olivia. Mostly because she herself didn't even understand them. She woke up in a cold sweat with nothing more than the distinct memory of being someone else. Most of them were not good people. Although once or twice it was a police officer. She usually just ignored the dreams as best they could. It always happened when she was drunk. Olivia would mention the next morning how Izzy ditched her and she should be thankful she had such good friends to bring her home at night. But Izzy couldn't remember who brought her home. And no one else would mention it. So she just kind of smiled and nodded at her sister and went on with her day.

Today, for instance. It was the first day she had a moment to return those unwanted Christmas gifts. Jewelry, cosmetics, clothes, knickknacks. Some people just had absolutely no taste. And it was high time the twins got something they liked for Christmas. Even if it meant picking it out themselves. After all, you could only get what you really wanted if you did it yourself. Or, you know, if your twin did it. Olivia always knew what Izzy liked and vice-versa. So the two got ready about half past noon and headed down to Fifth Avenue.

Everything was going great for about a half an hour. And then as they came out of a store, Izzy saw the dreaded ex. Everyone has one, the ex who can't let go... that you know you can't say no to. And he was walking directly for the girls. Izzy panicked for a minute. "Olivia. You have to let me be you. Just for a few minutes. Please? Please? Please?" Izzy grabbed her sister's shoulder and just like that, all of the sudden... there was no more Izzy. Or no more Olivia? Isabella yelped. She looked around frantic. No, it was Olivia. Olivia was gone. But... Izzy was wearing Olivia's clothes. Oh, this was bad. What was going on? It was like her dream but worse. She was terrified.

Izzy took off down the street. She could feel her twin panicking inside of her. Isabella and Olivia had never really been the psychic kind of twins, but every now and again they would know what the other was feeling, even from across town. This was like that feeling, only modified to be a million times worse. And then suddenly, though Izzy herself didn't realize, Olivia's ability kicked in. Until this day neither one of the girls realized they were part of the race of evolved humans. But now Isabella was stuck in her sister's body, her hair and eyes and skin were changing colors, and she was absolutely having an anxiety attack.

Turning a corner, Izzy wasn't entirely sure where she was at or where she was going. She was talking to herself... well, talking to Olivia. Trying to at least. Olivia was the smart one. Olivia was the one who always knew the answer. And, not paying attention to where she was going, Izzy turned a corner too quickly and tripped over someone coming from the other direction. She slid across the pavement, slamming her head into a brick wall. A cry erupted from her, not her own cry but Olivia's. It was very distinctly not Isabella's voice, they had always had different sounds, even strangers could tell them apart that way. Not to mention people they had grown up with, such as Peter Petrelli, who she had just tumbled over. The voice he heard crying out in pain initially was very distinctly Olivia's.

"An ability." He muttered, "Its the only way to explain how two people become one person." In his mind, anyhow. In his time he'd met a lot of people with a lot of different abilities; he remembered how he got stuck in the body of an inmate at Level 5 named Jesse Murphy. He had tried to convince his cellmate, Noah Bennet, that he was actually Peter Petrelli, not Jesse Murphy. The only way he'd been able to escape was when time apparently froze, and his future self pulled him from Jesse's body.

"Yes, yes, I remember Brad." The crazy jock that nearly killed himself two years ago when he crashed his luxury vehicle into a highway median because he was too drunk to control it. That was Brad, if Peter remembered correctly.

"Okay, first things first, I need both of you to relax. I can't separate you both if you are in hysterics, it doesn't work like that." He took the girls hand, thumb gliding soothingly over soft skin. "I need you to not talk. You need to be still, close your eyes, and relax completely." He sat quietly as he attempted to get the girls to relax, but they were out of control. Peter remembered his first time waking up in someone else's body, and how frustrating and scary it was.

Isabella thought he was absolutely insane. Something had to be wrong with him if he thought he had some idea of what was actually going on. There was something absurd about this that no one could explain. Especially not geeky little Peter Petrelli. There was no way in Hell that Isabella was calming down. This was the perfect time to panic. There wasn't a more appropriate reaction to this! Panic was the right emotion to be feeling.

"Are you insane? What the hell is an ability? How did I get in Olivia's body? What the hell do you know about it?" Izzy paused, eyes wide and jerking away from Peter. "Did you do this? Is this your fault?"

A moment or two later, Liv managed to get a hold of herself. She was having trouble holding on to her own body. And with Isabella panicking it was harder and harder to come through. But Olivia managed to reach out again, grabbing Peter's hand. "She's not calming down," clearly Olivia's voice. "Peter it's getting harder and harder to control my own body. Help, please?"

He sighed as she jerked away, wide-eyed and giving Peter a look something akin to what Nathan had given him when Peter said he could fly. He jumped off a roof a couple days after that; he found out his brother could fly but he definitely could not.

"None of this is my fault, I wouldn't do this to someone." He tried to reason with her, "I know a lot about it, actually, but I don't think its the right time to explain exactly how much I know about it right now. Izzy, I need you to relax or else I'm not going to be able to help you."

He gave a small squeeze to the hand that grabs his a moment later, hearing Olivia's voice again. "I know its hard, I know it is, but if she doesn't calm down I'm not going to be able to pull you free. It sounds strange, I know, but this happened to me once, too. I woke up in someone else's body far away from home and very confused. I don't need you in control per say, but I need Izzy to calm down and close her eyes and let you come through. And I can't sedate her or anything because then you won't be able to separate yourself."

Olivia took a few calming breaths. Maybe if she was breathing, it would calm Izzy down. Sometimes she wondered if the oxygen to her sister's brain just stopped during a panic attack. Now she knew it did. She could feel it. She was feeling woozy... Or maybe that was a concussion from slamming her head against the brick. Either way they could both benefit from some calm. Olivia wanted to do whatever she could to help before Izzy got control of the body again.

Which was only a few seconds. "How did it happen to you? What's going on?" Izzy was very likely not going to calm down without some answers. Or at least that was what she was telling herself. Olivia's breathing had calmed her down a little bit. She wasn't jerking away from Peter anymore. And at least she wasn't yelling anymore. She was just scared. She just didn't know how to manage her fear.

He sighed a little, pushing her body gently back down onto the gurney; one couldn't relax if they were laying down. He contemplated getting into her head to calm her, but he wasn't really that good at that ability yet. He didn't know when exactly in the last year that his abilities evolved into something akin to his deceased fathers, though he caused no harm to the other person when he borrowed their power, now able to adapt it and keep it for himself. Essentially like Sylar and his father, only without the murdering.

"I'm not actually sure how it happened." he admitted, "I just... woke up in someone else's body. I found out later my future self put me in that man's body and..." He looked down to Olivia for a moment and shook his head. "It's incredibly confusing, really. Let's just concentrate on relaxing, okay?" And what would help them relax? He bit his lip. "Returning all the unwanted Christmas presents?" Stupid question, he thought, but it might distract them enough to calm them. Maybe.

While Olivia had minimal control of the body, she was fine with letting Peter move her around. Even Izzy was trying to relax if only to get this over with and be herself again. But that was only a temporary feeling. Laying down, Olivia relaxed herself so much that she completely lost control of her body. And when Peter started in about this happening to him thanks to a future version of himself, Izzy was just finished.

Jumping up to her feet, Izzy pushed passed Peter. "You're insane. You're crazy. I'm getting the hell out of here. Fuck this. I don't need you." Izzy was not sticking around to hear what other loony toons kind of thing he was going to say next. If Olivia couldn't figure it out, Olivia being the smartest person Izzy knew, what made him think he was any different?

The jumping had brought Olivia right out of her calm. She didn't have the ability to stop her sister. She tried, very hard, but her body was not her own anymore. The best she could do was jerk one arm backward and use her voice for a split second. "Peter! Stop her! Grab me!"

He was up and out of the back of the ambulance before he even heard Olivia; he couldn't let them leave in this condition. He didn't know how they'd ever manage to separate themselves on their own.

Slender fingers grasping the others wrist, he focused all of his energy on reaching for Olivia and pulling her free from Izzy's body. It took a couple seconds, but in a moment he stumbled back, almost losing his footing and falling to the pavement, but he managed to stabilize himself. He gave a small, crooked smile when he saw two girls now in front of him instead of just one, straightening up a little.

"Are you alright?" He asked, turning to Olivia for a moment, able to easily pick the twins out now, ignoring the strange looks he was getting from Izzy.

Olivia was doing her best to yank away from Izzy as she ran. She had no control over her physical body. But all she could think is just that she did not want to be her sister anymore. Well, that and she wanted to stay with Peter. Thinking about it now she couldn't remember why they hadn't seen each other in so long.

And then suddenly, Olivia was falling back against Peter. Isabella lost her balance and crashed to the sidewalk in front of her. Without even realizing it, Olivia kept one hand holding onto Peter and moved toward her sister. Izzy didn't look hurt, just very frightened. "Izzy, baby, are you okay? Sissy?"

"Olivia, we're going home." Isabella stood up, brushing off her pants. As demanding as her voice sounded, she still looked as frightened as ever. She actually took a couple steps back from them. "Liv, let's go."

But Liv wasn't moving. She stood still beside Peter, a small internal debate going through her head. Curiosity won over, knowing she could go home and talk to her sister later. "Izzy, I'm staying. I'll be home later. I want to stay with Peter."

He caught Olivia and steadied her, his hand resting on the small of her back as he watched the two sisters interact. He hadn't the slightest idea why Izzy was so terrified of him; or at least she looked like she was. Peter was harmless. Sure, his ability had evolved in the past year, and he was much more powerful then he could have imagined, but he would never use his abilities to harm someone. That just wasn't him.

He looked to Olivia when she told her sister she chose to stay with him, then back at Izzy for a moment. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to hurt you." He told her, teeth coming down on his bottom lip worrying the skin.
