Izzy had been having the weirdest dreams lately. She couldn't explain them to anyone, not even Olivia. Mostly because she herself didn't even understand them. She woke up in a cold sweat with nothing more than the distinct memory of being someone else. Most of them were not good people. Although once or twice it was a police officer. She usually just ignored the dreams as best they could. It always happened when she was drunk. Olivia would mention the next morning how Izzy ditched her and she should be thankful she had such good friends to bring her home at night. But Izzy couldn't remember who brought her home. And no one else would mention it. So she just kind of smiled and nodded at her sister and went on with her day.
Today, for instance. It was the first day she had a moment to return those unwanted Christmas gifts. Jewelry, cosmetics, clothes, knickknacks. Some people just had absolutely no taste. And it was high time the twins got something they liked for Christmas. Even if it meant picking it out themselves. After all, you could only get what you really wanted if you did it yourself. Or, you know, if your twin did it. Olivia always knew what Izzy liked and vice-versa. So the two got ready about half past noon and headed down to Fifth Avenue.
Everything was going great for about a half an hour. And then as they came out of a store, Izzy saw the dreaded ex. Everyone has one, the ex who can't let go... that you know you can't say no to. And he was walking directly for the girls. Izzy panicked for a minute. "Olivia. You have to let me be you. Just for a few minutes. Please? Please? Please?" Izzy grabbed her sister's shoulder and just like that, all of the sudden... there was no more Izzy. Or no more Olivia? Isabella yelped. She looked around frantic. No, it was Olivia. Olivia was gone. But... Izzy was wearing Olivia's clothes. Oh, this was bad. What was going on? It was like her dream but worse. She was terrified.
Izzy took off down the street. She could feel her twin panicking inside of her. Isabella and Olivia had never really been the psychic kind of twins, but every now and again they would know what the other was feeling, even from across town. This was like that feeling, only modified to be a million times worse. And then suddenly, though Izzy herself didn't realize, Olivia's ability kicked in. Until this day neither one of the girls realized they were part of the race of evolved humans. But now Isabella was stuck in her sister's body, her hair and eyes and skin were changing colors, and she was absolutely having an anxiety attack.
Turning a corner, Izzy wasn't entirely sure where she was at or where she was going. She was talking to herself... well, talking to Olivia. Trying to at least. Olivia was the smart one. Olivia was the one who always knew the answer. And, not paying attention to where she was going, Izzy turned a corner too quickly and tripped over someone coming from the other direction. She slid across the pavement, slamming her head into a brick wall. A cry erupted from her, not her own cry but Olivia's. It was very distinctly not Isabella's voice, they had always had different sounds, even strangers could tell them apart that way. Not to mention people they had grown up with, such as Peter Petrelli, who she had just tumbled over. The voice he heard crying out in pain initially was very distinctly Olivia's.
