Tutorial #6
The dreaded blue screen caps again!
I just made this icon and since it was surprisingly simple to fix the blue coloring I decided to throw this tutorial together.
We're going to go from this ---> to this --->
Here's my original screen cap, resized a bit so it doesn't engulf the screen:
This is my cropped image resized down to 100x100:
First thing I did was copy the base image and set it to screen @ 100. I then copied my screened copy twice more. Flatten image. This is 3 screened copies of the base image:
Next I created a new layer and filled it with color C38438 set to softlight @ 100 opacity. Copy that layer again. Flatten image.
This is the image with the two layer fills of C38438:
At this point I think my image is still too dark so I copy my base image and set to screen @ 70. Flatten image.
I now copy my base image again and do unsharp mask, account @ 30. Flatten image.
Next I copy the base image again and using a round brush I blur the skin to get rid of the pixeled areas. I have my blur rate set @ 60. Flatten image.
Copy the base image again and sharpen @ 25. Flatten image.
I don't like how the background wall looks pixeled so again using my blur tool with a round brush I blur just the wall behind Justin. Blur rate set @ 80. Flatten image.
I need to add a bit more color (because I like color!) so I create a new layer and do a color fill with C38438 set to overlay @ 43. Flatten image.
This is the last layer. Use this texture set to screen @ 100. Flatten image.
And then the final result:
Let me know what you think and ask questions if you have them!
