Blue light tutorial
This is in response to michira_70's post over here requesting help in lightening/cleaning up dark blue caps. This is one example of some methods I use. These exact settings won't necessarily work for every dark blue cap but will hopefully provide a starting point. Always remember to play around with the opacity of your layers and try different colors as well.
The original cap:
Here's the cap cropped & resized to 100x100:
Copy the base and set to screen at 71% opacity:
Create a new layer and fill with color e4bc8d:
Set that layer to dodge at 54% opacity. This is what you get:
Copy your image layer and do unsharp mask and set the amount to 30%:
Copy your image layer again. Justin's skin is looking very uneven and pixelized so I use the blur tool at 60% and go over his skin.
I wanted to add a little bit of color to Justin so I add a new layer. Then I do a gradient of color a15b07. Start at the top right corner and pull the gradient 3/4 of the way towards the bottom left corner. It should look something like this:
Set that layer to overlay at 42% opacity. It'll look like this:
Then I added this texture:
by LJ's generosa
And set it to overlay at 61%:
If you like it like this you can be done. I added one more texture:
by LJ's luux-lu
And set it to screen at 55%:
Voila! All done.
