After Ms. Vector's announcement yesterday...the prefects, Head Boy, and Head Girl have a lot of decisions to make. To facilitate discussion, Cecil and Maggie have called a prefect meeting that will take place in one of the empty classrooms during dinner (to accommodate everyone's schedules). Everyone is encouraged to bring their food to the meeting and Cecil has spent part of the afternoon baking so there are cookies too. The meeting isn't mandatory, but this will be the only chance the prefects have to give their opinions prior to the final decisions being made. Anyone that does attend is expected to be patient, respectful, and open toward other prefects. Those that can't be civil will be asked to leave. That means you, Casper.

The discussion will circle around three topics: curfew, the Grotto, and the post made by the Anonymous Writer. Each discussion will end with a blind vote. No one will see how individual prefects vote on a given issue and only Cecil and Maggie will know the results. While the results of the votes will not necessarily determine the policies, they will be taken into consideration by the Head Boy and Head Girl.

Players will have until 11PM CST on Friday to respond and vote. Cecil or Maggie will announce the official prefect position on Saturday morning before the Anonymous Writer's post goes up. Please include any questions or comments in the OOC section below! Non-prefect players are welcome to toss their two cents there as well.

Maggie gives Cecil A Look when he ass-pats the prefects for doing a 'commendable job'. "Unsanctioned camping trip prior to conferences," she comments dryly, blowing on her own cup of tea. None of her girls were out there.

Cecil flinches slightly at that, then shakes his head and returns levelly, "People worked hard to get around their prefects, Maggie. I think most of us, if not all of us, didn't have an opportunity to control that situation."

"And staying up all night to make sure the actual headcount that was done at 10PM doesn't change isn't a prefect's job," Cecil answers, shaking his head a little. He's not certain why they're debating this right now.

Ravi can see this is going to turn into an argument. Time to be the Ribbonfin. "None of us are here to cast blame on anyone," he says. "It's not productive. I agree with Cecil that we should be focusing on how we're handling curfew going forward. We've all been flexible about curfew rules at one point or another."

"Oh, absolutely. I just don't think turning a blind eye lends itself to praise. We do turn blind eyes. We want to be the Cool Prefect, and we want to be well-liked by our cabin mates. But we have been lax. I refuse to believe all those students managed to sneak past their prefects unnoticed."

"Then...we'll have to disagree, Maggie," Cecil answers after a pause, "But Ravi's right. This isn't productive. I stand by what I said, but that's not what we're here to talk about. Do you have any thoughts on how we should handle things for now?"

"Okay, we won't discuss the camping trip then, if it's not productive," Maggie replies in a saccharine-sweet tone that oozes insincerity. She shows a tight smile. "I agree with you, Cecil: let's enforce the curfew as it's laid out in the rule book. 10PM to 6AM."

Cecil isn't oblivious to this lack of sincerity, but he might as well be because his only reaction is to nod. "Unless anyone has objections, then, I think that's reasonable. Those of us that run before 6AM will just need to adjust our schedules for a while."

"If we do this, then we all need to be on the same page. It'll confuse the message if some prefects are still making exceptions to curfew rules... as we've been doing for Grotto parties." Ravi taps his quill against the notebook he was using to take notes. "Either it's no exceptions at all, or the party exceptions are very clearly laid out."

"If we don't make party exceptions we'll have students sneaking out anyway, and I'd prefer that we know they're going to a party instead of going behind out backs. Laying out exceptions sound good to me." At least, she knows she felt better about the camping party when she knew where they were, and she had the other half of Ivy's mirror set.

"I can understand this," Maggie yields, "I'd rather know about a party than have them work harder to hide it from us. I think midnight's reasonable?"

Cricket's desire to be perceived as likable outweighs her need to always be right, so she doesn't press forward with Maggie's assertion that there is rarely any sneaking actually occurring. Cricket stops her doting yes man 'mhmmmm's and 'so true's when Maggie yields and simply states, "Midnight works for me."*
