A small, plain wrapped box spruced up with greenery is dropped off with Maggie by a Coppertale freshman who runs off before he can be questioned.

Inside is a snow globe cupcake with a snowman on a beach - everything is edible, even the globe (well, okay, not the cupcake liner).

There is also a little glass bottle with a message inside. It reads:

Maggie,
~~Wou~~ Will you go to the dance with me?

Instead of using Freshmen for delivery purposes, Maggie has a set of Freshmen that she uses as her network of spies. As to not appear too desperate to accept, Maggie waits about an hour before having her little darlings track down Tess and report her location. During that hour, Maggie primps and preens, puts on a spritz of her best floral perfume, and changes into one of her nicer outfits-- but not too nice or it'll be obvious she's trying too hard.

They're Freshmen and they don't have the Auror-track education that Tess has so she might notice something is suspicious as fuck about the kids who keep passing by her and glancing her way. When Maggie arrives, looking as flawless as she's allowed herself to be, the Freshmen exchange pleased looks among themselves for a job well done and linger to watch their efforts play out.

"Oh! Tess! I was hoping to find you here!" Maggie cheerfully exclaims, clasping her hands together behind her back as she approaches the other girl. She leans forward, giving a playful grin. "I just wanted to tell you in person: I'd love to go to the dance with you."

Tess did not prepare to the extent that Maggie did, she was way too busy fretting with Robin. She may be taking Auror-track classes, but she's not ~~Varys~~ ~~Leliana~~ a spymaster like Maggie. Her plan ended when Robin's little brother dropped off the package.

She's sitting just off Owl Trail, with her back against one of the trees on the outskirts of the clearing surrounding the Ornery Oak, eating an apple. She doesn't even notice the freshmen scurrying away, because she's focused on Maggie's approach. She hastily stands, pitches the apple core into the woods, and dusts off her pants.

"Oh, hi!" she says, trying and mostly failing to act casual. "Oh, cool!" How much enthusiasm is acceptable? "That's great! That's really, I mean, yeah, that's good."
