MISTLETOE: DAY 2

MISTLETOE: DAY 2

Gooseberry's not free of this ridiculous kissing game plague yet.

Starting Tuesday morning, the mistletoe has largely been scared out of the lodge by Mr. Hightower, and has moved outside. Students wake up, only to find their way to breakfast and class blocked by yet more of the winding plant.

Just like yesterday, anyone who is unlucky enough to walk underneath a sprig of it is trapped in place with their feet rooted to the ground. This is inconvenient enough, but the only way to free a trapped student is with a kiss.

HOW THIS WORKS
  1. Mistletoe is growing like vines throughout campus, hanging from branches and lamp posts, apparently attempting to position itself to "trap" students.

  2. It has not moved inside cabins, but may be located on their exterior.

  3. Classes are not cancelled, but under the circumstances, students are forgiven for tardiness.

  4. If your character walks under a sprig of mistletoe, their feet are rooted to the spot.

  5. The only thing that will free them is a kiss. Cheek kisses or a kiss to the back of the hand are sufficient. So is a kiss on the lips, but chances are, most people will opt for something more chaste.

  6. Mr. Hightower is busy all day, and cancels Herbology until he can get a handle on this. The mistletoe is proving to be highly resistant to being cut, hexed, set on fire, or exposed to magical weed killer. (Also, please don't set things on fire just in general???)

  7. Post your character to a location below if they got stuck. If you're waiting for someone in particular, indicate who's going to free your character in the subject line. Otherwise, comments are considered open for a random rescuer.

» Trails: The mistletoe makes use of lamp posts and overhanging branches.

» Gardens: A veritable warzone of kissing plants.

» North: Azurcest: Enough trees to be dangerous, especially on the approach.

» East: Ribbonfin: Is nowhere safe???

» South: Ebonhide: Of all the houses, heavily wooded Ebonhide is hit the worst.

» West: Coppertale: The safest campground. Just avoid the lamp posts and be careful of awnings.

» OOC - Questions, comments, concerns!

Special shout-out to Josie for giving us the idea for the mistletoe epidemic. ♥

Asher & Ravi

"Oh I'm taking it very seriously too," Asher says, completely unconvincingly. "I'm not a prefect though, so no one cares." He can definitely find the humor, especially with Ravi, even if he's not a huge fan of the whole situation. Wizarding school is never dull at least, and he's sure his companion can appreciate that.

"She has a dress, it's very lovely. Long. Chiffon. In apricot. I tried to talk her into plumb, but she says winter colors are too depressing." He doesn't even seem to need to think about his response, the details rolling of his tongue as if they were some sort of truth.

Ravi laughs. It feels like the first time all day. "She's right. This is a dance, Asher. You two should be enjoying yourselves."

He can't really chide Asher for not asking someone to Winter Formal, when he's been adamantly avoiding it himself. Even asking a friend feels too serious, considering the theme. Normally he might try seeing if Sun-mi were free, but... well. That's not an option. Oh look, in three seconds flat, Ravi's found a reason to lose his smile. He keeps smiling anyway, out of stubbornness.

"Anyway, I hope your notebook won't get jealous if I ask for your hand. Unless that seems far too romantic to you."

Asher grins at Ravi's laugh, always glad to elicit one from his somewhat serious friend. It feels like a badge of honor. "I know, I worry I'm too stifling sometimes."

He's not, he knows, but other worries about how boyfriend-material he is are a real concern... one he's not going to worry about now, because he's trying to have fun with his friend. Being in high school is the worst.

For a brief moment Asher considers trying to ask Ravi for a kiss on the cheek instead, but thinks better of it - the poor guy is probably tired from having to play kisser to the masses. He offers his hand but doesn't do so without being somewhat obnoxious, fanning himself with his free hand. "My word. I suppose I'll just have to let some of my reputation slip away so I can be freed."
