MISTLETOE: DAY 2

MISTLETOE: DAY 2

Gooseberry's not free of this ridiculous kissing game plague yet.

Starting Tuesday morning, the mistletoe has largely been scared out of the lodge by Mr. Hightower, and has moved outside. Students wake up, only to find their way to breakfast and class blocked by yet more of the winding plant.

Just like yesterday, anyone who is unlucky enough to walk underneath a sprig of it is trapped in place with their feet rooted to the ground. This is inconvenient enough, but the only way to free a trapped student is with a kiss.

HOW THIS WORKS
  1. Mistletoe is growing like vines throughout campus, hanging from branches and lamp posts, apparently attempting to position itself to "trap" students.

  2. It has not moved inside cabins, but may be located on their exterior.

  3. Classes are not cancelled, but under the circumstances, students are forgiven for tardiness.

  4. If your character walks under a sprig of mistletoe, their feet are rooted to the spot.

  5. The only thing that will free them is a kiss. Cheek kisses or a kiss to the back of the hand are sufficient. So is a kiss on the lips, but chances are, most people will opt for something more chaste.

  6. Mr. Hightower is busy all day, and cancels Herbology until he can get a handle on this. The mistletoe is proving to be highly resistant to being cut, hexed, set on fire, or exposed to magical weed killer. (Also, please don't set things on fire just in general???)

  7. Post your character to a location below if they got stuck. If you're waiting for someone in particular, indicate who's going to free your character in the subject line. Otherwise, comments are considered open for a random rescuer.

» Trails: The mistletoe makes use of lamp posts and overhanging branches.

» Gardens: A veritable warzone of kissing plants.

» North: Azurcest: Enough trees to be dangerous, especially on the approach.

» East: Ribbonfin: Is nowhere safe???

» South: Ebonhide: Of all the houses, heavily wooded Ebonhide is hit the worst.

» West: Coppertale: The safest campground. Just avoid the lamp posts and be careful of awnings.

» OOC - Questions, comments, concerns!

Special shout-out to Josie for giving us the idea for the mistletoe epidemic. ♥

She still isn't upset about this happening. At first, she was. But then after Etta, Ryan, the weird kiss with Chris, and kinda how everyone didn't hate hate it? She was actually kind of secretly enjoying the mistletoe plague she had accidentally created. All in a days work for the Coppertale. She'd take credit for it eventually, too. IF Marilyn wanted to, anyway.

But she didn't know just how intense this mistletoe was going to be and holy crap, now she was walking to her cabin after breakfast and getting stuck on the damn trail, just out of reach of the door. It was so close. SO CLOSE. "Oh DANGIT." She hadn't brought her good jacket, either. She was going to freeze to death.

Sy has class today, but not for a few hours, so he's still hanging around camp, bouncing a Quaffle against the cabin wall. Had he any sense, he'd probably stay in the lodge where it's mistletoe-free, but haha Sy having any sense. Plus, he wouldn't have spotted Penny getting trapped just on the other side of camp.

"Hey Vargas!" Sy shouts from several feet away. "Having fun?"

Aw, what a beautifully familiar voice. It wasn't like all her feelings for Sy just up and died when they broke up. It had all mostly been her fault anyway, being so dramatic and whatever and she'd had a hard time getting over the whole thing. It still melted her icy bitch heart a bit when he called her name and sauntered up like that.

"Stoker, of the male variety" She replied, smirking. "I'm just you know, having the time of my life here. Can't imagine anything more fun than being trapped outside on a cold cold morning like this without my good coat." She beamed. "You having fun, I hope?"
