REMINDERS: February 20

I'm about to tackle the Divination Tower! Thank you all for always being so patient. ♥

Absolute final call for the lottery event! We'll be selecting someone for it tonight, and the post announcing what happened will be up in the morning.

The Masquerade Ball is this Friday! Use this post to look for dates and make plans if you need to. Also feel free to ask us if you have any questions on the mechanics of the Anonymity Charm. You can also ask Calvin or Ravi IC questions, as the resident mod-played nerds and part-time glorified NPCs.

There will be a crafting session on Wednesday, February 22. Supplies will be provided by Event Committee with some of the extra funds accumulated by the flower delivery service. Do you guys want an IC/OOC for this? ~~If so, can a kind volunteer player take a little pressure off the mods and post it? If no one is able to, then Mina will be the host.~~ Thank you, Ivy and Laurel, for hosting the crafting party!

kurt is going with chloe. i don't know what his mask will be. he's been really into birds lately, maybe it's going to be a greater bird of paradise or something.

casey is A FREE AGENT WHO WON'T BE TIED DOWN BY DATES. his mask will probably be, like... horrendously simple because, and i quoth, "idgaf"

quinn is going with ty, i assume? i haven't talked to katie about it. KATIE, DOES TY STILL LIKE QUINN? Y/Y CHOOSE ONE. idfk what her mask will be, though. she's going to need some SERIOUS help making one because oh god no don't let her near the glue gun oh god oh god oh god nooooooooooooooooo—

i bet every year she tries to convince her friends that potvin's goalie mask counts and she has to be talked down from it.

	i don't think it works on the mask "It’s easier to recognize people by their masks, but if you want your character to struggle with this as well, you may. This means you might be at risk of losing track of your date if you come as a couple. This is up to individual players." (Reply to this) (Parent)

Yeah, as Ali quoted above. Technically speaking, you should be able to recognize people by their masks, but we'll let people suffer from MASK BLINDNESS if it's convenient for them to like... not recognize their roommate's mask despite having seen it before the dance.

And you will be able to see what people are wearing (e.g. are they wearing a dress? a suit? what colour? what fabric?) but the charm will effect a kind of mental block about really specific details that might give away a person's identity (e.g. whether they're tall or short, skinny or fat, etc). It's a very convenient handwavey charm, lol.

the winter formal was heavy on "formal" bc the expectation was floor-length gowns. (a lot of kids were sharing photos of knee-length getups and i think maggie was inches from a conniption.)

but also, from a quick googling it looks like the consensus for cocktail dress length has changed over time? so i was talking knee-length/etc. when i said "cocktail."

and knee-length is def less formal than floor-length.

but i wear the same 2 dresses to all weddings i go to and one of them is black, so... i don't actually know shit about Dressing Up.

i guess i thought floor length was Max Fancy so cocktail was Penultimate Fancy? i dont know anything abt dressing sorry mom you raised a FOOL

like, my thoughts on dude outfits in order of formality:
1. cargo shorts and flip flops
2. jeans, t-shirt
3. chinos and a button up
4. suit
5. ?tux i guess ???? like a top hat idk

i thought cocktail dresses were like a solid 4 but MAYBE NOT

But not too fancy, actually! I was imagining officially they'll set it as cocktail dress code, which is... "For guys, this dress code calls for a dark suit with a tie. For women, short dresses that are party-ready. When in doubt, wear a little black dress and dress it up with fun jewelry—or, if you’d rather wear color, opt for something bright and feminine."

However, you're not going to get kicked out if you dress down a little bit. (And I have a feeling several people are going to go full fantasy since it's anonymous and all.) Just... not casual, basically, so no jeans, no T-shirts. Outfits don't need to be themed. Aaaaand there technically aren't any standards for masks aside from nothing that's offensive? Or horribly terrifying?
