MEME: Veritaserum

VERITASERUM:
Oh no! Your character has been dosed with Veritaserum, and they're compelled to be completely honest in response to anything said to them.

Post a comment with your character's name in the header, and then other characters can come ask them questions, or maybe just engage in some awkwardly truthful chats.

Have fun!

Well they're not going to. At least not in any significant way that changes how they act.

You have a bleak way of looking at things.

Usually I can dress it up better.

The point I'm trying to make is that most people aren't going to have a sudden epiphany and become a better person overnight. You have to find a way to make them. I didn't change because I wanted to. I mean... maybe I did sometimes have those "tiny moments of shame" you mentioned.

Fine, definitely. But it was usually too hard to do anything about them. Or I was too proud.

You're saying nobody's going to change, but you're living proof of somebody trying to change after having those moments. Maybe not only because of those moments, but they must have made an impression.

They did, but it also required other people to act. Whether they got angry, or bullied back, or were... kind to me, I suppose. But even the people who were kind didn't get me to change just by hoping I was secretly a decent person.
