QUIDDITCH MADNESS
Since her freshman year, Clem's been running a Pro Quidditch betting ring for Gooseberry students. And guess what? The Pro Quidditch season is starting this weekend! Miscreants and sport enthusiasts unite!

As this is her third year doing this, she has a pre-established ward for participants. If your character participated last year, or has been vetted in this year by a reliable member, drop me a comment on this post and I'll add them to the list (which is going to live here on the betting page).

I have some information on the 24 teams playing available here! (PS let me know if you can't see this gdoc I've been having some trouble with it). Last year the top three teams were, in order: Drake Kill, Sweetwater, and relatively new team Klamath, which was an upset.

XAVIER LEWIS placed the correct spread bet last year despite the long odds on Klamath, and won the entire pot of 350 dragots.

THE QUIDDITCH SEASON:

• The pro season is 10 weeks long and divided into three 3-week phases, with an additional week for finals.
  
• For the first three weeks, all 24 teams play. The highest-scoring 12 move to the next phase, and the highest-scoring 6 move to the third phase. The highest-scoring 3 teams move on to finals.
  
• Each team plays every week (12 games per week in phase one, 6 per week in phase two, etc).
  
• Match-ups are not technically random, but the criteria for determining them is so complex and confusing that nobody bothers to question it besides the people drafting the schedule (I, however, am just going to randomly generate them). Occasionally, this means that two teams will play each other multiple times, and teams can go years and years without ever playing any other particular team.
  
• Scoring is cumulative across the phases.

• Each bet placed is for three teams, ranked from 1st to 3rd place.
  
• If anyone bets for the correct spread of the top three teams, in order, they take the entire pot (or split it with anyone else who bet on the correct spread).
  
• If nobody bets on the correct spread, the pot is split between everyone who bet on the correct first place team.
  
• The entry bid is 5 dragots.
  
• Everyone is allowed to place up to three bets, although if they bet twice they must pay the entry bid twice, etc.

• I gave all the teams 1-5 star ratings. The more stars they have, the more likely they are to win. These ratings don't exist in-universe, but anyone who regularly follows Quidditch would have a pretty good idea of what teams are good and which are abysmal, so the ratings are here to guide you as a player!
  
• Once a week I'll roll results for the match-ups and post a quick write up of any exciting/shocking things that might've happened in a match.
  
• The first phase match-ups have already been drawn and announced in-universe and can be viewed in the scorekeeping document!
  
• Obviously I'd prefer it if nobody rats her out for this, but since it is against the rules and there's been a crackdown recently, if anyone wants to snitch on her hit me up and we'll talk (altho this would have to happen after the season's over cause I WORKED HARD ON THIS AND IT'S HAPPENING).
