THE MEDDLER'S ALMANAC

With the flood of new players (hi! yay!!), I thought it might be nice to have a concise place to talk about our character's relationships. The Winter Formal is coming up, you guys!!! Honestly, I just didn't wanna risk stepping on anybody's toes in my OOC attempt to fill people in or Cricket's IC attempt to relinquish her Queen Meddler Crown to Bae. I know we just did a Wanted Lines meme and we have lots of intros to sift through, so this can be very brief. Basically, just include what you think a student who reads the journals regularly/has working eyeballs would know about your character's relationships so far.

Sexuality: Big ol' lesbian.
Bestest Buds: CRICKET AND NATE~~ BEST FRIENDS FOREVER~~
Notable Past Relationships: Dated the Head Girl last year (I've named her Anjanette, goes by Anj), dated Etta for ~2 months her Sophomore year.
Current Relationship Status: Single
The Messy Bits: It's not hard to guess that she's still kind of hung up on her ex, even though she claims otherwise. She hasn't made a move on other girls, but she's starting to panic now that winter formal is nearing.

My American headcanon for her:

Also a giant, possibly taller than Maggie, ultra-femme. Pureblooded, but American or Canadian so she lacks a lot of the more cutthroat qualities that my friend's character had in relation to Purism/Self-preservation since American culture is way more relaxed and it's 2013 vs 1982. I think that she either created her own cosmetics line or maybe something more influential, like a cushy government job that usually takes years to achieve but Maggie's mom probably handed it to her. I also think that Maggie wanted to marry her, but a lot of that was because Anj was a Pureblood and Maggie's been conditioned to view joining Pureblood society as an ideal end goal for the Gillises since they could possibly be considered Pureblood by American standards if they weren't fresh from the UK.

FYI, I don't think I ever shared this with you explicitly, but Cricket has some ~feelings~ about all this. Lemme know what you think, but in my headcanon Maggie's wife (and son--probz) got along really well with Anj throughout school, because you can't really maintain a serious relationship if your Stage 5 clingers friends hate your girlfriend. But as things got more and more serious between Maggie and Anj, Cricket started being a little more distant a la Diego (though with GRACE and TACT, unlike our favorite dumpster fire).

Point being, Cricket was struggling with lots of jealous feelings toward Anj, which she attributed to romantic feelings for Maggie. For a moment there at the end of Junior year, she was pretty convinced she was in love with Maggie. But she put on her big girl pants and did a really good job of keeping her composure. Then she went away to London for the summer to research for her Senior thesis, but also to ~soul search~ She was involved with a girl in London and pretty cruelly used her to experiment and sort out her feelings for Maggie (sorry, currently nameless British lady).

Long story short, she realized that she enjoyed sexy times with this particular British lady, but she couldn't see herself having that kind of relationship with Maggie. She wants to hold Maggie's hand and kiss her on the forehead and tell her all her deepest darkest secrets, but she doesn't want to have sex with her. SO! She came back to Gooseberry with some clarity and things went back to normal and Maggie was probably none the wiser. Maggie & Nate would know about Cricket's adventures in London, but only Diego knows the sordid tale behind it all.

And Cricket now has beef with Anj. Take a job from Maggie's mom and then break up with her??? HARPY! She does her best not to scowl when Maggie talks fondly about Anj though.

SIGN ME THE FUCK UP. lmao, Maggie's super none the wiser or else she wouldn't refer to Cricket as her wife and suggest going together to the formal if nobody asks them. OOPS.

I'm still waffling on how Maggie's current relationship with Anj is. The breakup was supposedly mutual because it ~made sense~ for them to break up while Maggie was still in high school, because a professional MoM worker shouldn't be dating a kid who lives at a boarding school and they can only meet during short breaks. But Maggie's also holding onto the hope that they're going to get back together after she graduates. (They're not.) I haven't decided if they still owl each other or if Maggie's been avoiding it because she wants to play it cool and not come off as clingy. So Maggie's just like "THIS IS FINE :)" but she's gonna absolutely lose her shit if she gets home during winter break and finds out that Anj is already seeing someone else.

I think Cricket knew that Maggie would stop playing house with her if she had any inkling that it had ever meant more to Cricket than just bffship, which is why Cricket kept that shit under LOCK & KEY. Not even Nate knows. She only told Diego because he was so sad and she was so sure that he was in a similar situation. And if he just stopped to think he might realize that loving your best friend is very different from wanting to be in a relationship with them that would require sexy stuff. UNFORTUNATELY, things didn't work out so smoothly for Diego, but Cricket's all good now. And there is no lingering weirdness. And Maggie never needs to knoooow~~

For Maggie's sake, Cricket also hopes that Anj will want to get back together, because she can tell that Maggie is hurting :( But if Anj isn't writing so much and Maggie's not making excited plans to meet up with her over the break... Cricket can kind of guess that things aren't going so hot. So, in the last few weeks of school, she'll do everything in her power to make sure Maggie is having FUN and feels LOVED, because fuck Anj :|

Cricket will write her a sternly worded letter if it COMES TO THAT. WATCH OUT!

lmfao I MIGHT'VE BEEN PROJECTING MY TALL (mostly) GAYNESS ONTO THEM WHEN I MADE THEM. Then when it came to make my third, I was like, "Okay, Ali, no more tall gays. Balance it out." So I made an average height grey-A instead.

As far as game patterns go, I think most of the exclusively homosexual boys are pretty tall (Levi, Cecil, Isaiah) with the exception of average-height Calvin, and the exclusively homosexual girls are pretty short (Tess, Mina, Harriet, Antonia, ??? I FEEL I'M MISSING SOMEONE) with the exception of Maggie and Irene.
