What up what up, time for another intro! This is Josie, and I'm bringing you Irene Lovelace~

Ebonhide Senior! She's half German, half Welsh, and has the hybrid accent to match. Her name is pronounced ee-ray-nuh (bonus points if you roll the r!) but if your character doesn't have any classes/clubs with her, and only sees her name on the journals, it's okay for them to assume it's pronounced eye-reen. She... is used to it by now.
First impressions: she's VERY guarded. She'll be the one watching from the sidelines rather than hurtling straight in, and never speaks/acts without thinking. Her concept is Buttoned-up bookworm longs for adventure, keeps secrets, and trusts no one. which probably says it all.
Her dad is a werewolf and Irene will DIE before that secret is dragged out of her. She doesn't care how supposedly tolerant you are, she's seen enough prejudice and hatred to know not to trust anyone with this knowledge. Her family moved around A LOT growing up to avoid ~arousing suspicion~ with the neighbours, and although Irene doesn't volunteer any information about her past, if anyone asks her why she'll tell them it's because her dad is researching the history of wandlore in different countries.
Her mother was a Gregorovitch, and although they're now estranged from that side of the family, Irene has wandmaking IN HER BLOOD. She wants to make a wand for her senior project. It's personal.
Her mother died in March 2010, which precipitated the move to America. When Irene started Gooseberry that September she was obviously still grieving, and just wanted to lose herself in her studies, but discovered LARP and has used it as a way to process her issues ever since. Her character is Lindariel, an elven archeress with a tragic backstory. HELP ME OUT HERE, I have only the vaguest notions of how LARP works, and would like to know how Lindariel fits in with the other characters!
Irene did the exchange programme, and spent her sophomore year as a Ravenclaw.
Life has dealt her a pretty shitty hand, but she's determined to never be the victim. She chose to take Defence, Occlumency, Duelling/Fencing, and Archery because they make her feel prepared and in control. And being in control is v v v important to her.
OTHER INFORMATION: She's poor and she hates it. She spends a lot of time in the library. She's secretly a romantic and a daydreamer. She likes languages and will tutor your character in Welsh or German if they have a burning desire to learn, and would also be interested in learning other languages from bilingual students here.

CLASSES: Charms, Herbology, Transfiguration, Artificing, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Magical Rudiments, Magizoology, Occlumency.
CLUBS: Archery, Duelling & Fencing, Equestrian, L.A.R.P.

WANTED LINES: Anything you can throw at me! Friends who have chipped away at her shell, LARP buddies, language tutees/tutors, maaaaybe an ex?? (She's too shy to have made the first move, but you can bet she's crushed on a few girls here.)

	Ahhhh I'm so tempted by this offer BUT Lindariel's tragic backstory is how Irene processed her grief about her mother's death, and if Sindori is responsible then Lindariel probably wouldn't have closure since Sindori is still running around being evil... Soooo Olivia is a junior but possible ex? Pros are: she would've made the first move. She's very sure of who she is and her morals, she's warm and compassionate and patient, and if Irene wants to be in even more in control, Olivia could've offered to teach her how to box?? Cons are: she's impulsive and doesn't often consider the future, and she feels immense pressure to live up to something she's not even sure she wants to be.

Outside of that, Irene shares classes and clubs with Chris. And I feel like he could get along with her, but it depends on how she feels about his aggression? But once you get past that aggression, he actually proves to be an understanding friend

Oooh I like the idea of Olivia teaching Irene how to box! She... was probably terrible at actual hand-to-hand combat, but stuck at the lessons because she liked spending time with Olivia? And then things just developed from there? I think Irene would initially have liked Olivia's impulsive side and found it freeing, but we could say that they eventually broke up because of personality differences. OR, more likely, Olivia got frustrated that Irene wasn't ~letting her in~

Hmm! Chris is a tricky one to pin down, so I think we might have to wait and see how these two get on in game? Irene doesn't appreciate bad language and might find Chris's aggression distasteful.

Ivy also spends a bunch of time in the library and has an interest in linguistics so they should definitely hang out! Teach her German!!

deimons are both in Ebonhide, but I don't know how much they'd have in common. Ariadne's a Hogwarts exchange, and she might remember Irene from when she was at Hogwarts cause she was kind of intrigued by the exchange program, but she was just a twerpy second year Slytherin while Irene was there. Her brother Gareth was a year above Irene, is way nicer than Ari, and was in Ravenclaw so they might have known each other in passing

And Reece

thingamabobbs is in LARP! He plays a dwarf cleric I think but I'm also still kind of working all that out

I guess we'll have to see how they interact in game, but my tentative thoughts are that Irene is reserved around both but would probably get on better with Clementine than Ariadne? But then again, Irene and Ariadne are both in Equestrian, so how warm Irene is to Ari may depend on how much of a ~mean girl~ Ariadne is.

Haha no worries, LARP is complicated!! Irene is fond of everyone in LARP, so she'd be friendly to Reece.

	Ahhh so many cool people I can't But yes. Leo would know her for sure, they are both senior Ebonhides. He's pretty good at respecting guarded people, and would like Irene. MAYBE friends!? If you want! They have dueling and some class overlap! 	I think Irene and Leo should definitely be friends! She needs some friends, after all, and she v much appreciates people who respect her and don't ask prying questions. YAY OMG I LOVE IRENE AS MUCH AS I LOVE HER FACE.

Before I get into a real reply, Ryan pops into mind. He's had a pretty shitty hand dealt too (was product of a one night stand, never knew his mom, raised by muggle uber religious dad who started beating him when his magic developed because that meant he was obviously evil, then found out his mom helped Voldemort and is now in Azkaban....in case you haven't read it bc nobody stalks bios like I do lol), and is guarded. While I doubt either of them would offer those facts up, I do think they'd recognize a bit of it in each other and get along.

TODAY/YESTERDAY IS/WAS LIKE A GOLDMINE OF RAD CHARACTERS. irene is so INTERESTING. I WANT TO SEE MOAR.

qiunn's in her year, so obvs most likely candidate. they've got 4 classes & archery together. she wouldn't have tried to screw with how guarded irene is, and they both spend a lot of time in the library. she could try to teach irene french ~~but if tremblay offers TAKE IT WITH A GRAIN OF SALT bc that joual is tough~~. i can see her at least finding irene v interesting at the beginning of gooseberry. i kind of like the idea of them being some sort of friends, although irene may get indifferent to quinn's more rambunctious side?

casey says ~he can teach her french~ (hello i have a monopoly on french characters) but i wouldn't recommend taking that offer. it's best for irene to stay away from casey.

she's in equestrian with kurt! he will be nice and quiet to her 👍

Irene is probably kinda cautious of Quinn, since she's more outgoing and I feel like Quinn also tends to ask a lot of questions? And is good at getting information out of people? BUT Irene likes people who ~~live in the library~~ spend as much time in the library as she does, plus she would totally take Quinn up on the offer of French lessons, so I think there's definitely scope for them to be sort of friends!

Lmao don't worry, Irene is staying faaaaar away from Casey.

Irene likes Kurt and appreciates his quietness.

Ravenclaws! ♥ Shy daydreamy bookish multilingual Ravenclaws~ ♥ Irene was at Hogwarts the year before everything was a disaster for Jacob so I feel like they could have been pretty tight back then? Now he's an asshat whenever his roommates are around, but all that bluster generally gets tossed aside when they aren't. He's very interested in learning the various Celtic languages and can trade Italian lessons! And a hodge podge of other stuff, but Italian is what he's fluent in.

Sun-mi has a tiny crush on like all the girls and doesn't hesitate to flirt, buuut Etta is her only real ex. :* They have some class and club overlap! And she's probably familiar with Lindariel's story since she's been grilling Ravi about LARP for years.

Ursula would find her very interesting (I think anyone who generally withholds information about themself piques her interest?) and is also a rather controlled personality. She's also technically in LARP but I have no idea how dedicated she really is but I'm sure she's still terrible at it and still mostly just cares about being a princess.

Aaaaand Essie.. is in Duelling. That's it.

YES to trading language lessons! Irene would not put up with asshattery, but probably avoids Jacob when he's with his roommates anyway, soooo they can just hang out somewhere quiet and have nerdy linguistic discussions.

Irene is... not particularly adept at flirting back, but that doesn't mean she's unreceptive to it, especially from girls as cute as Sun-mi. :* Although she's kind of embarrassed that Sun-mi knows about Lindariel's story when she's not even in LARP.

Irene is v guarded around anyone who likes digging for gossip, and so despite the LARP connection I think she'd be cautious of Ursula!

Essie is sweet, but can be a little much at times for Irene.

Diego would help her with Spanish if she'd teach him German or Welsh. He shits on his ability to teach anything, but language skills and a friendly attitude is about all he's got going for him. If Irene likes him, he can be a loud COME OUT AND HAVE FUNNNNNN friend.

Rafael will know her from LARP, and he'll be friendly and courteous. They're both pretty buttoned down control freaks so maybe it'll be hard for them to have heart2hearts, but he'll have lots of respect for her and correct people on her name when she won't. He's protective of his LARP babies.

Reid is likely to noooot talk to her a lot, and he definitely says eye-rene. Sorry. :(

Calvin will know her through a couple clubs, and he adores a couple of her roommates, Maggie and Cricket.

Kenzie thinks she's gorgeous but we're already talking that elsewhere unless you want her for a bad idea ex lmfao.

Irene can definitely trade language lessons with Diego! I think she'll be friendly, but be like "I am having fun, the library is fun" if/when he tries to convince her to go to parties. (She's not going to any parties.)

While Irene would adamantly insist she doesn't need anyone to be protective of her... I think she appreciates it all the same, and considers Rafael a friend even though it's not an open-up-and-spill-your-heart kind of friendship.

Aaaaand all the rest sounds good! (Altho no, Irene does NOT want Kenzie as an ex tyvm.)

So Penny and her would have some classes in common and since Penny is INCREDIBLY guarded, and likes people people who are that way too because they don't ask ~~stupid effing~~ questions much, she probably sidles up to Irene during classes so they can quietly sit together and Penny can pretend she's not *alone* without having to do any of the work like talking etc. ALSO, since Irene wasn't there for Penny's turbulent first two years at Gooseberry, she kinda likes that she doesn't have AS MANY preconceived, really bad first-impressions like the other seniors do. Penny is hyper competitive and stand-offish but she isn't outright mean so their more quiet natures might have made them friends eventually?

Avery and her don't have a lot in common, except they are both in Dueling and Fencing club. Since Avery is a JR Ribbonfin though, thats probably their only interaction. Avery is very sweet though and would be incredibly kind to Irene. She also likes the idea of learning Welsh or German so there's that!

Um, YES TO ALL OF THIS!! I love friendships that are based on mutual distrust of other people, haha. But seriously, that sounds perfect. Irene would quietly move her things over to her side of the desk to give Penny more room and then... they just do their own work without talking, but it's a companionable silence. (Also! Irene was here for freshman year, buuuut she might not have noticed what was going on with Penny since she was absorbed in her own issues. So junior year could've been a fresh start and the beginning of their gradual friendship?)

I think Irene would like Avery, although being Irene she'd just be quietly friendly. And Avery is more than welcome to have Welsh or German lessons from her!

i think Z would like her quite a bit, honestly. they have a few classes together and i think some overlapping interests. maybe friends of some kind? she'd be interested in language stuff -- she knows a tiny bit of Irish Gaelic from her mum and grandfather, so i think she'd be curious about welsh. ♥ she's also a bit of a bookworm & perhaps her super calmness would vibe w irene?

laurel is a LARPer, so they totally interact -- her character also happens to be an elf, but is currently affiliated with the evil sindori, so. who knows what's up w that. i could see laurel being the type to encourage irene to come out of her shell a little more, try to make her laugh, etc (but only as much as she's openly comfortable with).

jonny uhhh. idk -- i just introed him and haven't really played w him as much yet, so i don't know EXACTLY what he's gonna be like in play, but idk. he might tolerate irene and be mostly not rude to her. they're in a bunch of extracurriculars together too!

Zoe is so chill, I think Irene would appreciate that. I can see these two getting on well -- Irene would be happy to talk languages and books with Z. :)

Irene definitely needs people to encourage her out of her shell, and I think she'd react well to Laurel and maybe even laugh at her jokes. Idek what's going on in the world of LARP tbh but there could be ~backstory~ between Lindariel and Celestine!

Not being rude is a good start!
