PLOT CALENDAR: October
October brings chills, thrills and the start of Monthly Bonding Activities! This month, we'll be handling those in a different way than is described in the FAQ, with the mods determining what everyone's activities are. Hopefully, we'll have that up soon so you can all start plotting for those fun Fridays with your classmates~~

Due to the size of the game, we've revised rules so doubles are no longer allowed unless we specifically ask for it. We may change things in the future as we try to figure out the best way to give everyone a shot at a cool plot, but currently, the only rule is one spot per character. Please claim only as much as you can handle, and try to leave some cool plots for other people if you have a lot of characters and already grabbed a cool plot for yourself.

Also, you may notice that some characters have follow-up plots to things which happened in last month's calendar. (FYI if your character is one of them, you are still allowed to claim another plot slot!) We have other follow-up plots planned, but will leave it a mystery as to which slots on the calendar will trigger one. Have fun choosing. ;)

OCTOBER
SAT
1
Estella Morales-Tran and Philippa Nightingale take a boy safari around campus, making a point of visiting all of the day's scheduled activities. There is a lot of giggling and blushing and being generally disruptive. Essie insists that she is just showing Pippa around if anyone asks.

Gabriela Flores is on their way to the Grotto, and are surprised to run into Mr. Elmasry in the forest, who’s looking a little disappointed and wistful. He explains he just got “a bit lost,” and quickly departs for the lodge.

Elsewhere in the world, Oktoberfest is still in full swing. That morning, Levi Kramer runs into Mr. Oakes behind the Artificing shed, trying to brew his own beer to share with the other teachers. Oakes gives the student a taste to ask their opinion, and makes them promise not to tell either of the Headmistresses. Or Mr. Hightower.
MON
3
Sylvester Stoker has locked Calvin Evercreech in his locker in the lodge after a very one-sided scuffle. Calvin ends up soliciting the aid of Magdalen Gillis, who has to follow Calvin’s instructions to get him out of the locker by using his combination.

Levi Kramer comes back to his cabin after Astronomy, ready to get some sleep, but when he pulls back his covers, he finds that his bed has been filled with several handfuls of wild bird feathers. They seem to belong to a variety of different species, but blue jay feathers feature most heavily. This can’t be hygienic.

The spooky season leads to several students deciding to swap ghost stories around Ribbonfin’s campfire before curfew. (But everyone's invited!) Ursula de Luca ends the night with a true story: several years ago, a boy was accidentally drowned in Lake Gooseberry by bullies, and his malevolent spirit is said to return every Halloween to TAKE REVENGE. Kurt Wolfhart doesn’t get any sleep that night.
WED
5
That morning during breakfast, one of the boats is seen floating, without oars, in the middle of Lake Gooseberry. Some whisper about how this is just like how the boy’s boat was discovered after his bullies left him stranded on Halloween night. Mr. Thorn retrieves the canoe and gives students a stern lecture on making sure your boat is securely docked when you’re done.

In the morning it begins to drizzle, and by noon there’s a healthy downpour. William Chase glances out the lodge’s windows see what looks like a skinny young man crying on the docks in the rain. Thinking it might be Calvin Evercreech, they go out to check on him. However, the figure is gone by the time they get outside. Later, Calvin insists it wasn’t him.
FRI

MONTHLY BONDING ACTIVITIES for all sophomores.

Since the rain finally let up, Kurt Wolfhart goes out riding that evening. He’s surprised when his usually agreeable horse suddenly becomes stubborn and can’t be dissuaded from leaving the trail. Frustration turns to shock as he realizes that his horse has led him to a yellow paper boat sitting on the forest floor, just out of sight of the trail. The S.S. Grindyboat is in pristine condition, and perfectly dry.

When Ribbonfin arrives for their afternoon Quidditch/Cheer practice, they discover that the Pitch (including the goal posts on both sides) have been decorated with fish-shaped streamers in a rainbow of colours. They’re stuck hard with magic, and remain up by the time Azurcrest has their team practice. No one in Ribbonfin can claim credit for the “prank,” although they do get chided by Mr. Hightower for unsanctioned decorations and the use of Sticking Charms.

(Little does everyone know, it was actually the work of Solomon Webb, who lead a team of Ebonhides over the lunch hour.)
SUN
9
Happy birthday, Bailey Hartman!

QUIDDITCH MATCH: Ribbonfin v. Azurcrest

Regan Hobbs is the last Azurcrest player to walk out onto the field as the game is about to begin, since she stopped to retie her boots. As she heads out to face the cheering crowds, she looks up and sees dozens of ravens perched on the Azurcrest goal posts. As soon as she notices them, they all take off and fly off into the woods.
MON

Veronica Powers and Clementine Decourt are enjoying a little private time breaking curfew down by the docks. Whatever they were up to is interrupted, however, when they see a huge man in a hockey mask and black robes watching them from further down the shore. Is it the Lake Gooseberry Killer?! Does he have a knife?! Spooked, they run back to their cabins.
TUE
11
In History of Magic, Ivy Templeton asks about the boy who drowned in Lake Gooseberry. Mr. Merrill humours the discussion for a few minutes before emphatically stating that no students have ever died at Gooseberry.
WED
12
Bailey Hartman realizes on the way to class they haven’t heard any birds or wildlife all morning, and are unsettled. They point it out to Zoey Valentine, who’s noticed the same thing, but as they’re talking, a songbird starts up. Huh. Was that just in their heads?

Anuhea Alapai discovers a long red trail on Goosey Trail, near the Ribbonfin campsite. It looks like something bloody dragged itself out of the water and disappeared after crawling several feet... When Mrs. O’Hare shows up, she vanishes the mess with her wand, and insists it wasn’t actual blood. Trust her, she knows blood when she sees it.
FRI
14
Outdoor Exploration weekend camping trip! (See Day 1.) Students leave Friday morning, and return Sunday afternoon. Time will be spent hiking, fishing, and learning about the beauty of the natural world. The weather will be crisp and cold, as winter tends to creep in early in Utah. Mr. Thorn warns all students who go on the trip to plan on snow.
  • Students will camp two or three to a tent. Mr. Thorn is very careful to not let students who he thinks might spend the night canoodling share a tent alone. THIS ISN’T A HONEYMOON, KIDDOS. (But where there’s a will, there’s a way, right?)

A heavy fog descends on the school grounds. In the evening, Quinn Cunningham thinks they see their roommate walking on the trail ahead. But wait—didn't they go on the OE camping trip? When Quinn tries calling out to them, their roommate disappears into the fog... and there's no longer anyone there.

🌕 HUNTER’S MOON

Nathaniel Bird and Casper Kim are out on rounds when they find a VERY distraught freshman. She’s in such a panicked state, they take her to the lodge to see Healer Mufferaw. The whole way there, the girl keeps looking over her shoulder and INSISTING that someone is following them, but the prefects see nothing.

For once in his life, Healer Mufferaw gives the girl a calming draught and lets her stay the night. He tells the prefects to just forget about what happened and go to bed. Does it feel like someone’s watching them on the walk back to the cabins...?
MON

Event Committee meets for the planning of the Halloween dance, and members discover that the storage room was broken into and some decorations were stolen. Wilhelmina Tran blows up at Laurel Templeton, since they were the one responsible for locking the storage room last meeting.

Katya Ivanova returns to their cabin that night in a terrified state, claiming that they were chased away from Lake Gooseberry by the knife-wielding masked killer. They ran halfway across campus to escape being murdered, only losing him when they reached the trail to their house campsite.
TUE

A message is discovered on the side of the stables: REVENGE in dripping red paint. Susana Velasquez goes to report the vandalism to Mr. Covington, but when they return to the spot, the message has vanished, without a hint of paint anywhere. However, there are now some red flowers growing in the dirt below the message? How weird.
WED
19
Late in the evening, Philippa Nightingale spots a bloody body hanging from the Ornery Oak. Their screams attract the attention of others, who figure out it’s just a dummy. The noise wakes up the Oak, which throws the dummy at the crowd and hits Beatrix Armstrong hard enough to knock them over. In the commotion, the dummy disappears(?!).

Happy birthday, Isaiah Covington!

Someone spiked the gardens with magical fertilizer, and the pumpkin patch is growing out of control. Mr. Hightower offers extra credit to any students who come to help him rein it in. That night, there’s a Pumpkin Carving Party where everyone drinks cider, and there’s enough for everyone to have a few pumpkin heads for outside their cabin. (IC/OOC Post TBA.)
FRI
21
MONTHLY BONDING ACTIVITIES for all juniors.

Hayley Ferris is running late for class when their trail is blocked by a couple of deer, who just stop and stare. Instead of waiting for the deer to pass on their own, the student yells loudly to chase them off. That night, Ferris returns home to see that the pumpkins in front of their cabin have been destroyed.
SAT

Students going for afternoon Quidditch practice discover a skeleton wearing a bloody hockey mask hanging in the equipment shed. However, the skeleton is definitely one of Event Committee's missing decorations, and Henrietta Gray determines the mask’s reddish stains are ketchup, not blood. Hmm.
SUN
23
QUIDDITCH MATCH: Ebonhide v. Coppertale. (RESULTS TBA.)

Oh no! During the game, Robin Youngblood realizes their Nintendo 3DS is missing! They can’t remember the last time they saw it.
MON
24
Happy birthday, Adeline Foster-Hayes!

Bulletin boards in the lodge and house campsites are plastered with posters for the Halloween Dance. Ready your costumes and ask out your dates!
WED
26
Chloe Shepherd comes back to her cabin to discover an old shoebox waiting on the doorstep, with her name crudely written on top in charcoal. When she opens it up, the box contains two flashlights (one still works!), a handful of mismatched batteries, a broken PlayStation Portable circa 2005, an Evanescence CD, and Robin Youngblood’s missing Nintendo 3DS. It appears he carved his initials into it with a hunting knife.
THU
27
Late at night, Christopher Park hears a strange scraping noise along the wall of their cabin. When they peek outside their window, they see a masked man who tauntingly waves a hunting knife at them. The Lake Gooseberry Killer moves out of sight and disappears before anyone else can come look.
FRI
28
MONTHLY BONDING ACTIVITIES for all seniors.

The senior prefects leave for one day and Sylvester Stoker decides it's a good idea to start a mud wrestling competition in the rain. Several matches occur, but Kurt Wolfhart versus Sylvester Stoker becomes the surprise highlight of the evening.
SAT

Faye Turner and Theresa Noble are taking a late evening stroll when they’re attacked by the Lake Gooseberry Killer! However, when Faye tries fighting back, they quickly discover that the person behind the mask and robes is Sylvester Stoker, who’s too busy laughing at the looks on their faces to apologize. (“It’s a fuckin’ prop knife! Get over it!”)

🌑 NEW MOON

The Anonymous Writer should post tonight...

Halloween Dance: it's a costume party in the Atrium! (IC/OOC Post TBA.)
  • Regan Hobbs is turned away at the door for wearing an inappropriate costume, and is forced to improvise a new one in order to join the fun (sheet ghost, anyone?).
  • Adeline Foster-Hayes spikes the punch, but is caught by a very displeased Ms. Poe Mr. Elmasry. The alcohol is confiscated and Addy has detention to look forward to. Now go enjoy the rest of the night responsibly!
  • But Cecil Honeychurch ends up getting a big glass of the alcoholic punch before it’s discovered. Unfortunately, they’re also a lightweight, and spend the evening tipsy.
  • In the middle of the party, a high window shatters and the lost dummy is thrown into the Atrium, landing on the dance floor. All eyes go to Sylvester Stoker, but Rosemary Stoker backs him up in insisting he never left the party. And no one saw anyone outside...
