Cormac McLaggen is a rebel without a clue ([info]myownfanclub) wrote in [info]goblet_ooc,

Badge Day!
Today people will start wearing the "Support Cedric Diggory" badges. So the question is: who is wearing them?

In my case, Cormac thinks anyone wearing those badges is a moron, Hamish is interested until he learns of the "Potter stinks!" extra, and Samir is feeling very tempted because, well, Cedric IS the real champion.

It's also day of the Weighing of the Wands, which means the champions will be called from their first afternoon class (if they have said class, obviously) in order to be questioned by Ollivander and pestered by Rita Skeeter. Fun times.

Um, Keegan will be wearing four of them.

Now that's what I call support.

It'll probably be down to two in a week or two, once she realizes how annoying it is to wear four badges at once :P

Also I have to laugh that my Irish character is already fighting a McLaggen. So many flashbacks!

It's a right trip down memory lane, it seems. XD

Anyway, as you might have noticed from my comment to Tessa below, Samir is working on some Hufflepuff-themed t-shirts with Stella, which will be worn in support of Cedric but have absolutely no reference to The Boy Who Cheats (Larissa convinced the two of them that criticising Harry still works as publicity for him). Kee is welcome to have one when they're ready.

Leanne will wear one, and also might have another one pinned to her schoolbag.

Ronnie will be wearing one until Cedric tells her not to. Then she'll just be wearing her supporter t-shirt.

And the 'Puffs ft. Stella will be strutting round the corridors being even more flawless.

Alicia CLEARLY wont like them, and will glare at people that are and roll her eyes at them and mutter under her breath about how stupid it is.

Given what happened between her and Ronnie, I'm not surprised.

Cal will be wearing one. Actually, I think he might be the originator of the badges, if that's okay?

I mean, I had some spare time, so I kind of made this:

Oh yes, Cal can definitely be the one responsible.

Ooh, that's very good! I did something similar for one of the new game ads

This has the fonts in the green and red colours mentioned in the book but, of course, is not button shapped because I failed at it.

Tamsin will reluctantly take one and maybe pin it to her bag, she doesn't want to make trouble. Lucy thinks this is needless drama, Jules thinks there is nothing stupider than these badges and Sophie is French and won't be wearing one since she supports Fleur.

Barney wishes they just said support Cedric Diggory and didn't say Potter stinks. He doesn't really like that Harry is a champion but saying someone stinks is rude. I don't think he'll wear one but he'll be okay with other people wearing them. Although... do you think he'd be able to make it so that it got stuck on just the one logo? Then he'd wear one.

Lee and Mel obviously won't wear them.

Yakov would buy one because he likes the charm on it. If one of his Durmstrang crew tell him off for supporting Cedric, though, he'll take it off. He just thinks it looks cool.

Since the Creeveys were trying (and failing) to charm the badges, it might not be a good idea to have someone succeeding, even if Barney is more experienced and just wants to get the message stuck rather than make them pro-Harry. He's welcome to try, though.

otoh, the one thing the Creeveys DID manage to do when messing with the badges was get them stuck on just one message, so maybe that's easier?

ALSO, when Malfoy first shows Harry the badge, he presses on it to make it change from one message to the other, which to me implies that the badges don't automatically change but rather that they require the wearer to press on them

Well, technically we don't know if the message got stuck when the Creeveys tampered with it. I went back to the chapter, and what it actually says is: "Nearby, on a table, the Support Cedric Diggory! badges the Creeveys had been trying to improve were glinting in the firelight. They now read POTTER REALLY STINKS."

I was referring to the part that says: "The Creevey brothers had managed to get hold of a stack of Support Cedric Diggory! badges and were trying to bewitch them to make them say Support Harry Potter! instead. So far, however, all they had managed to do was get the badges stuck on POTTER STINKS."

Right, I ended up skipping that part, for some reason. Still, it shows that they ended up doing it by accident, so perhaps it's not as much a matter of it being easier as it is something that just happened?

Will Cedric wear a 'Support Cedric Diggory' badge? Hmmmmm...tempting!

Maybe some younger Hufflepuffs can corner him with him before it gets too hyped up and he kinda has to take one and put it on but then after they leave he tries to take it off before some non-Puffs see but someone sees and it's all bloody embarrassing.

Who wants to see??? Cho? Anyone?

Log it? We can still react in journals afterwards and debrief friends on the situation, etc, but I find it easier and more fun when plotty bits are actually written out.
