lol I know I just said I was going on hiatus, but before I leave: new character! Ruby Robins, 7th year Gryffindor, Halfblood, older sister of Demelza Robins. Things about Ruby:

She's on track to be a Healer, but she's also really into Care of Magical Creatures, so she is kind of thinking about trying to become a magical veterinarian instead. Or she might throw her hands in the air and just be a magizoologist. Then she won't have to worry as much about her marks. She did well in OWLs but that took a lot of hard work.

She's a morning person, so other early-rising Gryffindors probably see her around the common room then.

She's a Prefect, but she doesn't take it too seriously, so she'll probably let you get away with things.

She's in Chess Club because she likes the sort of people who are in Chess Club, but she's actually pretty bad at chess.

She's completely disenchanted with Quidditch and doesn't get why it's such a big deal.

She's a lesbian, but she's still in the closet in that she hasn't actually come out. But she's never really shown an interest in boys, so people might have some idea (or they might think she's asexual or something). She doesn't really see the point in coming out until she's like, actually dating a girl.

She can be really sarcastic and a tiny bit of a misanthrope, but she's also pretty friendly.

She doesn't do emotions. Ever. Or at least, she doesn't like to.

She probably doesn't have that many friends, but let me know if you think your character would get along well with her! I'm kind of worried about how she'll fit in since she's the only 7th year Gryffindor, and there are few other 7th years in general, and she's not very popular, and I'm going on hiatus right after picking her up. Enemies are fine too, or whatever else you can throw at me! I'm still around today and tomorrow, so lets get some relationships figured out :D

We need more seventh years, definitely! Still, Ruby being a prefect means she'll still have more than enough reason to interact with people.

Anyway, let's talk about mine...

Cormac tends to be a little disrespectful to prefects, though thankfully not in a "hey, please put me in detention" kind of way - and the fact Ruby is a Gryffindor prefect might help things a little. On the other hand she's Mel's sister, and Cormac and Mel have that interesting relationship going on, so I guess we'll have to wait and see how things go in game.

Hamish and Samir will be friendly but, again, we'll have to see how it all goes in game in terms of interaction. OOCly, Samir would like Ruby to know that things are very nice outside the closet, and the air is a lot fresher. Plus there's coconut pie.

yeah, that's pretty much why I made her a prefect, haha.

I look forward to seeing how they all get along! Ruby probably finds Cormac amusing if sometimes annoying (and as long as he's not upsetting Mel). And Ruby doesn't really think of herself as in the closet, because she's never pretended to be straight. She just lets people assume whatever they assume. But she's intrigued by the coconut pie...

	Mel is the one who upsets him, Cormac says. It's honey and coconut pie, to be more precise. Samir "borrowed" one of his mum's cookbooks when he was in second year and gave the recipe to the house elves, and now that he's coping with being kicked out by his parents he's using it as comfort food. Lee will be friendly because she's pretty. That's how it goes. If she doesn't talk much he's unlikely to press her, though. He also seems to like teasing prefects, so he may do that unless it actually annoys her.

Barney will babble because he's Barney and he also likes CoMC, but he doesn't understand how anyone can not like QUIDDITCH.

MEL is excited. She loves her sister, although she doesn't always 'get' her. Also, what is with the mornings? Mel needs her coffee before she'll talk to Ruby. Or, you know, anyone. I'm looking forward to playing them together :-) I think it's one of those thing where we'll figure stuff out better by having them interact rather than talking about it, if that makes sense?

She'll talk to Lee, I think, because he's all lighthearted and non-serious and she's totally on board for that. And I'm not sure how she'd react to teasing, but I wouldn't mind finding out.

I think Barney is the kind of person that makes Ruby think she doesn't understand people at all. Like, she doesn't dislike him, she just... feels like a completely different species than him

And yay Mel! Ruby loves her too, a lot. And I agree re: interaction. We already know the basics, so we just need to see how things actually happen when we put them together. I'm excited!

	I am sure Mel will have tried to talk to her about boys before, so if Ruby didn't really respond then Mel will have probably asked her straight out if there are any girls she likes instead. Oooh. Interestingly enough Cass is also on track to be a Healer/Mediwizard... although I think aside from perhaps Hamish, no one else is aware that this is the career he actually wants and not y'know go into pro quidditch. Cass is also a prefect, so there's that interaction happening despite him being a sixth year... although he's a Slytherin, so that all depends on that i guess. but he's also Hamish's twin, so there's that too.

then there's allehgra... also a prefect. she has total-bigtime-crush on Cormac, so tends to make frowny faces at the stuff happening in Cormac and Mel's friendship atm (mostly cause she's a silly thing who wont tell the guy she likes him so... yeah).

and have got another character in the works... *runs from Patricia's work stick*

Ruby doesn't have any particular bias against Slytherins -- she actually thinks that house rivalries are exceedingly stupid. We should have the Healer/Mediwizard thing come up sometime! That'd be fun.

Ruby says hey, that's my sister you're frowning at. I think she can be pretty protective of Demelza at times, even though she knows Mel can take care of herself.

and yay new characters! :D

	I love her PB! I love seeing her used. Anyways! Alicia likes her fellow Gryffindors, but she also likes playing chess but not taking it very seriously! Alicia gets the not liking to do emotions things too! I don't see any reason why Alicia wouldn't be friendly to her! (Reply to this) (Thread)

So, Leanne and Audrey are both in chess club with her and Audrey is a prefect.

Audrey silently disapproves of the fact that she doesn't take prefecting very seriously, but mostly I don't think she'd have much of a problem with her and might even like her. She appreciates a little sarcasm.

Not sure about Leanne, but I don't see them having problems with each other anyhow.

	Lucy doesn't understand how people could be disinterested in Quidditch, it boggles her mind. Jules thinks she's quite all right and will be Jules friendly Tamsin is in chess club with her and is a lesbian and really isn't out or in, so they have lots of in common. Friendly for them? Katie says OMG WHY THE QUIDDITCH HATE. T_T But she appreciates that Ruby is a ~laid back~ kind of prefect, and also they can bond over CoMC if ever they get into a conversation about it. (Although atm Katie is just like SKREWTS, WHYYYYY.) And I think she might have a tiny crush on Ruby! Just because I think Katie needs crushes on older girls (of which we don't have enough in game atm) so yeah. But she doesn't actually know Ruby is a lesbian.
