Immediately following school, Alex had begun to make his way toward the beach. He was in a weird state of mind, still feeling very abandoned but now way past caring outwardly. It was too hot to care about much aside from the heat, and the wind coming off the ocean was always cooler. He'd brought a few bottles of fresh water, planning on being out for a few hours at least. There was a good breeze coming off the ocean, and he hadn't been able to practice with his powers in a while. Maybe he'd gotten rusty? Maybe he just wanted to destroy something beautiful? He didn't know exactly what it was, nor did he care. The water was calling to him that afternoon.
He'd indeed gotten rusty, and it took him a little while to regain control, but once he did he was a god. The water was rough, even without his influence, and surfing had never been better than by increasing the density of the water under oneself to use surface tension. He felt like Jesus Christ, and even whispered the claim to himself. The raw power of it felt right.
Coming back in, riding a wave with nothing more than a piece of driftwood near him, he saw someone walking along the shore and immediately dropped his hold on the water, dropping himself along with it. He was trailing water when he came up to the shore, but offered his new companion a smile. "Good afternoon," he called as he made his way up the shore, dripping water in more places than he wanted to count. He'd have to soak it up out of the soil again soon.
