Who: Laura and Jess What: Doctor's appointment! When: Tuesday afternoon, May 25 (backdated) Rating: PG probably
Laura had had a busy day at the clinic so far and was bouncing around from patient to patient, only stopping to catch her breath with a hurried cup of coffee and a bagel during her seven-minute lunch break. Thankfully many of the complaints the other islanders had were relatively minor - colds, allergies, a pesky ear infection - and her next patient's symptoms might have seemed equally minor, had it not been for the name at the top of the chart. Jessica Pace was suffering from chronic intermittent stomach pain, was she? Red flags always went up in Laura's head when test subjects were involved, and she made sure to read the chart twice. Her brow furrowed sightly as she read the nurse's notes. Laura's own stomach had also been acting strangely for the past few months, but she mostly ignored it. Doctors were the worst patients, after all. Strange how Jessica seemed to be suffering similarly. It was probably just a coincidence.
Taking a deep breath, Laura opened the door to the examination room and smiled pleasantly at Jessica before closing the door. Like all of the other parents on the island, she'd been informed about Jessica's recent transgressions at school. But Laura was neither her mother nor her teacher, and therefore did not behave as such.
"Good afternoon Jessica," Laura said calmly, her tone and expression easily concealing how frazzled she was from the morning's work. "How are you today?"
